Great space in vibrant North Beach!

Apartment - Private room · Stockton St, San Francisco, CA 94133, United States

The Space

A private room with shared bathroom in a 3rd floor, 2-bedroom condo. Very close to restaurants and bars, Chinatown, Coit Tower, Fisherman's Wharf, Lombard Street. An easy walk to Union Square, or you can experience the 30 Stockton bus. Great views of Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge & Marin Headlands. I've lived in this neighborhood for 20 years and have lots of recommendations for places to visit and things to do.
The building I live in is over 100 years old. I've re-decorated over the years and tried to maintain the authentic old world charm of the early 1900s...hardwood floors, picture and chair rails, old-fashioned intercom.
There's a roof deck with spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Financial Distrist & Downtown - a great spot for taking some awesome photos.

Guest Access

Guests will have a private bedroom with an adjoining sitting room. The sitting room gets great afternoon sun and has great views - a nice place to relax between hectic tourist activities. The bathroom is shared, but just with me. There is limited kitchen access - guests can store perishables in the refrigerator, use the kettle, toaster, microwave.
There is also a roof deck that is accessible to guests.

Interaction with Guests

I have 2 very friendly dogs who love company. We'll be here during your stay to offer suggestions and provide directions, but otherwise let you enjoy North Beach and San Francisco at your own pace.

The Neighborhood

I've lived in North Beach for over 20 years and love the 'Sesame Street' neighborhood vibe. People are friendly and courteous.
North Beach is a great neighborhood with lots to do. There are awesome resturants within a few blocks and I can recommend a few that are 'off the beaten path' and worth trying. This is a great area for walking. You pass many of San Francisco's coolest spots on a stroll from here to the Golden Gate Bridge (about 5 miles one-way) - Aquatic Park where the diehards swim in the bay year-round, Fort Mason with one of the best views of the bridge, Chrissy Field - a haven for people & dogs. The shopping areas of Chestnut & Union Streets are also within walking distance.

Getting around

There are good public transportation routes nearby, including the historic F-Line which uses restored cable cars from all over the world and makes it's way down the Embarcadero to the Ferry Building.
San Francisco is a good place for biking and there are many bike rental stores in and around Fisherman's Wharf.

  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Fiona's place for two nights but only saw her briefly before we left. The house is in a great location in Telegraph Hill and very close to Columbus Street and other attractions. The room was fine and the dogs were lovely as well. We enjoyed our stay in sanFrancisco.

  • Fiona's place was absolutely beautiful. It was near all the touristy areas such as fishermen's warf, union, Chinatown, little Italy... Etc. Fiona provided tons of information about where to eat and what to do. What wowed me most about her place was that she had stairs that led to the roof! Her roof was beautiful with grass and a small bench to sit on that overlooked the ocean! Her place was/is very clean and modern even though it is nearly 100years old. I'd highly recommend Fiona's place to anybody and everybody visiting San Fran.

  • Fiona was a great host. She makes you feel very welcome from the moment you walk into her apartment. It was the first time I've used airbnb and she exceeded my expectations. Her dogs are really cute and great company! The neighborhood is in a great location too (safe, close to many attractions and great restaurants)! I would definitely stay here again next time I visit SF!

  • We had a wonderful stay in Fiona's apartment. North Beach is really nice, with good local cafes, restaurants and bars and walkable to lots of other places (Fisherman's Wharf, Telegraph Hill etc). The apartment itself is lovely - super comfortable and clean and we were made to feel perfectly at home.

  • Great place! Exactly as advertised... very clean, comfortable and quiet. Fiona is a wonderful host with a wealth of info on the area, like where to get the best coffee, and good places to eat. The location was perfect! Very close to many great food/coffee places, and in vibrant North Beach. Baily and Epy are the sweetest dogs and you didn't know they were there most of the time. This was our first experience with airbnb and it far exceeded our expectations. We had a great time. Thank you Fiona! We will be back.

I live in SF with my 2 dogs, Bailey & Epi. We spend a lot of time outside where 'the girls' can run around and play. Things I can't live without - the girls & internet access. My travel experiences include Costa Rica & Bali. I go to Ireland at least once a year to visit family. Many vacations are spent in California where the dogs can join - Sonoma coast, Mendocino. Having lived in SF for more than 20 years, I have many recommendations for well-known and not-so-well-known activities for visitors. I'm a pretty avid cyclist and have many bike routes I can share.
