We had a great stay with John and Julia at their charming and spacious home in Donegal. The house is very unique and full of character and J&J can tell you all about its history and their exciting plans for its future. We only got to stay one night as it was a short trip on this occasion but the room is very cosy and I would recommend people to stay longer and use it as a base to explore the rest of Donegal and the many interesting sights & scenery in neighbouring counties. Thanks for a lovely stay guys, Mark & Daise.
John and Julia did their best. They supplied a beautiful room in the 200 year old house John was born in. The house was clean, quiet and they always had a warm fire going. Problem was, I was sick when I arrived until well after leaving with a flu/cold?
They made sure I was warm and comfortable. John would mix health potions for me in his juicer machine.
I read two, very good books John recommend and he turned me on to some incredible music and their dog Bruno!
They are both very intelligent, travel a lot and I especially enjoyed Julia's story's and viewpoints on everything I had the pleasure of discussing and learning from her.
Maybe it was good I was sick and just hanging around as I had more time to be with them!
Well I did get out a little, I followed the advice of J&J and saw a few of the wonderful sights in Donegal, but only a few. Their home is well positioned as a base to explore, only minutes to town center and I would highly recommend staying with them.
Danke an Julia & John!
Julia and John are one of the most friendly people and hosts that me and my boyfriend came across. We stayed a night in Donegal, and upon our arrival they offered us tea and cookies, few minutes later they offered as a soup as it was late in the evening. It was very sweet of them. In the morning John made us breakfast as well as tea and coffee. The location is great, the house is located in the city center, few mins to everything which we found very handy. The house is huge and so is the room, we found it very cozy and comfortable. The place looks better and cozier than the pictures shows. We felt very welcomed and at practically at home at Julia's and John's house. We had great time chatting to our hosts, and playing with the dog. Bruno is definitely another attraction in the house. My boyfriend spent ages playing with the dog and was sad to say goodbye!
We found the whole experience extremely satisfying and would definitely recommend it to everyone!
I stayed for 2 weeks with John and Julia and I had a great time! They were very accommodating and really made me feel welcome. The pets were great fun. If I'm back in Donegal I'll be sure to stay there! Just be aware that Donegal can be quite cold at times so bring some warm layers :)
Julia and Joe provided the friendliest, homiest Airbnb experience I've had so far. They are extremely friendly and willing to help, be it towels, extra blankets, a hot meal, or travel advice. Place is 2 mins from center of town. Definitely recommend.
John and Julia are hospitable and interesting people. They cooked us a most nutritious and tasty breakfast. The bedroom and lounge were extremely spacious. Recommend that visitors arrive in daylight when staying there.
We enjoyed our stay in the big, comfortable room. Great bed!
Very pleasent, friendly hosts. Enjoyed their hospitality.
Donegal town is not a touristic place in particular in January but I really enjoyed staying with John and Julia and their pets. The Bluestack way from Donegal town to Lough eske is an enjoyable walk.
John and Julia do everything to make you feel comfortable in their home. It was my first Airbnb experience and I recommend to go to John and Julia's house if you want to visit Donegal.
