Interaction with Guests
We are available any time of day via text and phone; however, we won't bother you unless you ask us to!
(Usually we are out of town while you stay, so we have a local representative on call in case you need someone in person)
Very charming bungalow style homes, friendly neighbors, and a lovely walking path through the subdivision.
Bus stop is located just down the street - I think it's 1/4 mile walk.
Other Things to Note
Per CITY OF AUSTIN LAW - you will be required to pay 15% hotel occupancy tax upon checkin. This is the normal tax that you would pay at any lodging location, and Austin now requires that we short-term-house-renters collect this tax also. (we're happy to provide documentation for you, and you'll see our license on "proud" display!)
No Parties with anyone other than those in your party..ie. those who are paying to sleep in the house.
***I'd love to include the word "please" here…but we're just so serious about these 3 rules that they don't really merit the word. But we do have really nice voices. We hope that helps you feel loved!
As we mentioned in the description, this is a brand new home - so we'll be looking for responsible people/family to rent it to. We are super friendly and fun, but we're not crazy! =)
You may smoke on the back porch - but please please please, NO SMOKING whatsoever in the house. We'll have to keep your entire deposit if there is any smoke smell in the house.
Security deposit forfeited if parties are thrown in the house or yard.
Sorry, NO PETS! We love pets - we are glad you may have pets at home, but please leave them with their grandparents. Again, security deposit forfeited if pets are brought in.
Ugh, rules rules rules!
Robie was extremely helpful and communicative from the initial inquiry through the check-out process! We had a group of 11 people stay there over a long weekend and couldn't have been happier. The outdoor area was terrific, home was clean, and beer in the fridge waiting for us really made it feel like home. We had one incident where an old piece of furniture broke by sheer accident and Robie was very understanding and didn't give us any trouble for that at all, which was very much appreciated as many hosts would still dock a security deposit for that regardless of why the incident occurred. Highly recommend the home for groups of 8-12 people!
Robie was an incredible host - answering all of our questions prior to the trip as well as communicating via text once we had arrived in Austin. He and his wife were extremely welcoming - even leaving a bottle of sangria and providing tips on nearby grocery stores (which we had asked for). The home actually exceeded our already high expectations. We very comfortably slept 14 people and had plenty of room to hang out, not to mention a great back yard where we spent a lot of time. They provided all the basics we could need and even opened their fridge and pantry to us. We hope to come back to Austin and would love to stay in this beautifully decorated home again.
My stay at Robie's home was just as expected. All of my many questions were answered right away, even when just to book. The house is spacious and accommidating as listed. The house was clean and in a great little tucked away place in Austin but not too far away from the city as well. These hosts were always kept me in the loop and had a team to help my girls weekend stay on track.
The house was beautiful and exceeded our exceptions. Communicating with the host was a breeze and made the experience much less of a headache.
The house that we stayed in was perfect for our trip - super clean and totally prepared for visitors. The backyard was perfectly decorated and made us very excited when we first arrived. There was even food stocked in the fridge (extra nice)! Also really appreciated the fact that there were code boxes instead of keys and very simple instructions to follow when leaving. The piano was also a huge plus. ;) I would definitely consider staying here again during SXSW.
Robie was awesome! Very helpful and responsive, and even left my group a wonderful tasting of Austin beers! :) House was very cute, decorated wonderfully, and close enough to Austin city life to cab/Uber for a night out. Would definitely stay there again!
It's a beautiful home and great to be in touch with robie who is so friendly and helpful. The only down side was the 15% tax that could have been made a little clearer on booking but we sorted that out pretty quickly. It's a very safe and quiet neighbourhood and the outdoor space was great for hanging out with or friends. We also appreciated robies generosity in leaving us a bunch of beers to get stuck in to! Thanks again, Cat
About the Host, Robie
Well...We are a family enjoying life - especially in Austin, TX! Jonathan and Robie met in college at the University of North Texas. We married a rough 3 years later - and have been in marital bliss ever since. We have lived in Minneapolis, MN, Gloucester, MA, South Hamilton, MA, Manchester-By-The-Sea, MA, and now LOVE life in Austin, TX.
If you're staying in our home, chances are that we are out of town. So, we will be there to greet you and get you acquainted with our home, but will most likely be out of town during your stay. HOWEVER, feel free to call us (who am I kidding, call Jonathan but TEXT me!) ANYTIME! We know the city very well and are quite well connected....not that we like to brag!
Our life as well as our home are very family friendly - we welcome families with children of any age...if you need special supplies for your little one, just ask. While ours are growing quickly, there's a good chance I have what you need!
We love music, so you'll find some fun stereo things built in to our home. We don't love TV, however, so you won't be super impressed with our cable offerings ...but come on... you're in A-TOWN - ain't nobody needing to spend their time in front of the TV! (Don't worry, we do have two televisions so you won't have to go cold turkey during your stay. whew!)
We are sort of beer snobs - so please ask us for recommendations ... if we like you, we're likely to leave a selection for you in the fridge. hint. hint.
That's all I can think of for now - my kids are screaming at me.
