Sweet Country side apartment distributed onto three floors, totally equipped.
Two double bedrooms, both en suite, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable living room with fireplace and a day bed for two people, toilet, terrace with barbecue, baby facilities / hair dryer / WI-FI / TV / DVD; all you could need to feel yourself alt home.
The house is situated in a "lively" mountain village called Ladines with just 19 inhabitants. The prefect place to get lost, find yourself or just to be in peace for a few days and of course, discover Asturias.
In the village there is a cosy bar - restaurant, a ecological bakery and a handcrafted liquors and honey shop.
The nearest shop is 3 km. from the house and the nearest supermarket is 15 km. from the house.
Ladines (the village) is located in the heart of Redes Natural Park, created in 1996 and with a surface of 37.803 hectares. Lately in 2001 the area was declared Biosphere Reserve by the UNESCO. You can find more information about Redes Natural Park in this web (website hidden) (sorry just in Spanish). A place full of beautiful mountain routes.

Ladines es una maravilla, una pequeña aldea que se encuentra en un parque natural extraordinario... Y Benaki es muy acogedor, todo fue perfecto.
We had a wonderful time in Ladines and in the Benaki 1 apartment. It is a very comfortable place to stay! The village is very quiet. A beautiful (6 hours) hiking tour starts in the village (yellow and white stripes). We can also recommend the 'Alba tour' which starts in Soto de Agues. We took our mountainbikes but you can also walk.
Jose is a very gentle and caring host! Always responding on email very quickly. Thanks!
This apartment and its location are not to be missed. A beautifully designed and well-kept apartment in the middle of a quiet rural village with stunning views. It was the perfect relaxing retreat for us. While we did not meet Jose in person, he was very helpful and responsive. The woman who gave us our keys and works at the local bar was so helpful and sweet and really made our stay! Thank you!
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Benaki 1 - the location is idyllic - a fantastic contemporary conversion in a traditional village setting. We stayed during a period of snow and it was amazingly warm and very comfortable with stunning views of snow covered mountains from the lounge area.
The kitchen and bathroom facilities are all very good and there are some lovely little touches like the etched poetry on a couple of the windows. We also noticed that there is a sitting out area slightly separate from the house with bench and barbecue which would be a great facility in the warmer weather.
We enjoyed several visits to the bar in the village which seems to be a social hub for the village and we had a great meal there one evening. The organic bakery which has a following throughout Asturias open on Mondays for bread purchases and there is also a specialist honey and liqueur centre where you are free to sample before buying - we did!!
We only had a two night stay in Ladines and would certainly like to stay there again but for a longer period.
We stayed in the two bedroom apartment available at this location through Benaki, and we felt that it was probably renovated by a professional architect such was the quality of finish and the thought that had gone into the design.
The small hamlet its located in, Ladines, is also located with very picturesque views afforded to it across the valley and to the mountains beyond. It is also very comfortable and peaceful to stay in if you’re looking for a bit of sanctuary.
However, there were a few details that I would recommend to Jose to ensure he includes for future guests in order for them to fully appreciate their stay there –
- A kettle! Fear not however, we bought one ourselves as a present for the apartment for all of you future guests to use – enjoy!
- Condiments/kitchen goods – there are no restaurants or shops nearby so we ate in every night after doing a supermarket trip on our first day. If you’re flying in internationally you don’t really want to have to arrange for the basics such as cooking oil, salt, pepper, washing up liquid, a new sponge etc etc. None of these were there and we had to buy them ourselves. We use air bnb frequently and this rental was the first we’d stayed in that hadn’t included these.
- Loo rolls – we had 3 half dispensed toilet rolls there, luckily we noticed before we went to the supermarket as otherwise you’d have a long drive to go and get more when you least needed it!
I’d give the stay a 4/5. If these had been thought of I’d have probably given it a 5/5. Simple items but nonetheless important and it’s a shame they undermined the experience when so much time, detail and energy had been focused elsewhere…
I would start by saying that Kim and Tom were some fantastic guests , and we really appreciate all the comments made .
For us, quality and comfort of our customers are very important, that is why we offer all apartments with a questionnaire in which all guests can answer some questions about the property and write all the findings to consider making us to improve.
In this case we are really sorry you didn’t contact Isabel , as I recommend because most of the problems you are talking here , would be solved very quickly. As fast as we found a place for Kim and Tom to watch the Arsenal United match, as they ask us. Maybe there were not enough communication between us.
I would like to explain that there are not condiments in the apartments for hygenic reasons but you can ask for some to Isabel in case you need it, same with the toilet rolls if there were not enough, we will be talking seriously to the cleaning service about this , and the washing up liquid , because we normally have some there, please accept our apologies. We are concern about this things specially because the apartments are located in a small and quiet village with no supermarkets or shops around.
Referring to the kettle must be said that in Spain it is not a common item to have in the kitchen, we use the cooker to heat the water, I know it is not as fast as a kettle but it is not possible due to the space to have so may devices, even though we have toaster, mixer, washing machine, dishwasher, hair dryer, microwave,…
As I told you we will take note of all these and make all the efforts to improve, so next time maybe we will get a 5/5 from you. Best regards.
The house is lovely and in a very charming little village surrounded by colorful lush mountains. The big window in the salon with its fireplace was a perfect spot to enjoy the view and relax after a long day of exploring. We had a problem with the shower on the top floor and it flooded down to the kitchen but we just used the bath on the first floor and Jose was very nice about it. He felt so bad about it and sent a bottle of wine to apologize. The house was made almost entirely out of wood so it did make a bit of noise when you walk but it was also nice for enjoying the rain. Overall we had a positive experience. My suggestion is that if you plan on doing a lot of site seeing in different areas in Asturias that you might consider booking your stay in different locations to avoid the additional driving. However the area near Ladines is quite beautiful and you are greeted by a lovely river before you start your climb toward the top of the mountains where the village is located.
A beautiful apartment in a picturesque village. Everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Apartment is even better in the flesh and Jose was very pleasant and easy to deal with. A terrific experience.
Apartment is exactly what is promised, albeit, unsurprisingly, the internet is incredibly slow (what can you expect in a remote village in the mountains).
If you're after a quiet time in a quaint village amidst picturesque mountains, this works.
After a fabulous holiday here, we are now BIG Benaki fans! Loved the tranquillity of this beautiful place...the photos can't do it enough justice..it is breathtakingly beautiful , in every direction. This is a place to come and rest and rejuvenate, to remember who you are, away from the busyness of city life! The village of Ladines is an utter delight...parts of it from a lost time, people growing their own food and living in peace with nature. We loved the apartment...clean, bright, light, modern, groovy, peaceful...with the most mesmerising views over the mountains from this spectacularly big window in the living area...no need to watch TV, just look at that view!! The bedroom in the attic is lovely - comfy bed, skylight above, nice ensuite bathroom....we spent hours listening to the silence and the occasional tinkle of cowbells...and birdsong...lots of walks in the mountains, cute cafe/ restaurant in the village run by the very friendly and helpful Isabel...(helps if you speak Spanish)..Beaches we enjoyed were Gijon and Playa de la Griega near Villaviciosa, both about an hour away by car. Oviedo a beautiful city to visit too, with great culture and restaurants...We could go on and on about Ladines, for it has captured our hearts..we plan to return!
