We are in a rural setting and about 5 miles from downtown Salem. We do not have any pets living here, but the neighborhood has many farm animals (cows, horses, chickens, goats) and pets (mostly cats and dogs). There are regular sightings and sounds of wildlife, mostly birds and deer. We also get raccoon, coyote and other wildlife through the area occasionally.
Internet service is provided by a wireless internet provider.
Cellular service is good for most providers. A Smart TV with a Roku device in the living room allows for you to connect to your device or streaming accounts. There are limited local stations..
The washer & dryer are located in the laundry closet in the kitchen area. Laundry detergent is generally available in the Honor Cabinet for purchase.
House is heated and air conditioned with a forced air heat pump system.
Honor Cabinet - we have a small "Honor Cabinet" with a few non-perishable food items and other commonly forgotten items to purchase in case you forgot something at the store.

Neighborhood highlights

Peaceful countryside with easy access to lively, active vineyards offering wine tasting, lunch, Sunday Brunch, live music on Summer weekends and more. Oak Knoll Golf course, Brunk House, Pentacle Theater, Salem's historic downtown, and Baskett Slough National Wildlife Refuge are all nearby. Halfway between Salem and Dallas, we are just minutes from the Willamette River and all that the valley has to offer. Depending on the season, you may see the combines working during grass seed harvest or the local farmers bailing hay, watch the neighbors horses roam the back pasture or experience the wine grape harvest in the late fall. Fresh berries, corn on the cob, fruits and vegetables are available from the many local farm stands during the summer months. A short distance to the top of the hill during Christmas tree harvest and watch the helicopters work the fields loading bundles of Christmas trees. Who knows, maybe one of the trees will be in your living room for the holiday!

We are a great halfway point for cyclists headed to the Coast or participating in one of the many rides in the area. For cyclist, runners and the energetic, there are miles of bike/walking paths leading to the communities of Salem and Monmouth and parks to explore. Want to see the ocean? We are only about an hours drive to Lincoln City and the Oregon Coast. Portland, Silver Falls, Corvallis, McMinnville and more can typically be reached within an hour or less. Centrally located for those interested in touring the Covered Bridges of Oregon and seeing the countryside of the Willamette Valley. So much to do, you will want to stay an extra day!
Visit our guidebook for more ideas on what to do and where to go. We have added some of our favorites to the list. Local attractions and activities are also listed in our house manual. Want to know about something specific, just ask!
