Would not stay again. Would not recommend. Pros: 5 min walk to pink line, 20 mins from there to the loop. Walking distance to a big grocery store. Nicely decorated, well-equipped kitchen. Flat-mates were very nice and respectful. New laundry unit downstairs. Cons: cleaning is lef…

Response from Dan:
I’m very sorry that Ksenia had a bad experience staying at my listing. I was away from Chicago during her stay and I pay someone to clean between guests and will certainly investigate to make certain that this is being done properly. Nevertheless I’m confused. Please read my review of Ksenia which was written before I was able to read her review of me. If Ksenia was unhappy with the room why did she contact me and attempt to book the same room for 19 days in July, outside of the Airbnb platform? If she is indeed the “intrepid, street savvy urban explorer” as she describes herself why did she book a room located in Little Village which she describes as “crime heavy”? Ksenia has lived in Chicago for many years and as an Airbnb host here herself is presumably familiar with the information Airbnb disseminates to potential guests, which includes a detailed map of the listing location- before the booking is made. It’s worth noting that mine is not the first negative review Ksenia has received as a guest. In January she received a negative review from another host: "I would like to clearly state is that I would not recommend her as a guest. I've hosted many apartments in many parts of the world and rarely get below 5 stars, and have never had someone like this. Either her expectations were too high, or she simply exaggerated, I do not know. But I've had satisfied guests stay right after her, none of which making the claims she made. I believe she is not the ideal guest and will expect more than the average person." Finally, I’d like to point out that my building is less than a block west of the train station. There are hundreds of apartments and homes west of me. It’s likely the person she claimed was following her was someone on their way home just as she was. It’s telling that when I asked her if she called the police she wrote “I didn’t call the police as I didn’t see much point in it”.

Saint Ruby's Flats is a wonderful place to stay! I was in town for a 4 week elective clerkship at JHS Cook County Hospital and found the commute to be very fast and easy, taking at most 10 minutes. The pink line train is literally around the corner. A large grocery store is a…
