  • Very nice location!

    January 2014
  • We stayed in the apartment for 1 week,
    Let's start with the positive:
-We loved the location, it is probably by far the best location in Barcelona during all seasons except late Spring and Summer.
That means that the area around is phenomenal, full of little restaurants, stores and cathedral's to discover. It is literally 15 min walk from the sea and harbor.
-The apartment is no different then on the pictures and is spacious and nice.
-Lucas and Augostina were very prompt with responses and ready to help.
    -Bed was comfortable and wide
    -Perfect internet
Now just a bit of negative:
-As I expected prior to the visit (and mental note for me for the future) not to come to Barcelona on the winter months. I was afraid that the apartment would be chilly, and in fact it was. With all the windows shut (which was not too pleasant since you can not see the light of day) it still seemed a bit cold. We had a comforter which was great. And there is an air conditioner/heater in the place. However, we never figured out if it produced more heat or humidity, or maybe filters were not changed, I am not sure. In any case, we were warm at the bed time, cold during the night and really cold in the morning. That resulted in both me and my boyfriend getting sick. The second day we contacted Lucas asking for an extra heater, which was immediately provided. It was a battery that heats up from electricity. Together with two devices it was good, however, a piece of advice that we figured out. Better use the battery it is more predictable, then the ac/heater, which had a mind of it's own.
-One drawback for me was that in the cold months the windows/balconies should be closed to keep the heat in, which creates total darkness and you need to use electricity all the time. However, even with the windows open (maybe because of winter) The apartment was quite dark and different than the images on AirB&B portrayed. On both sides there are two buildings, and no matter which balcony you are on you are pretty much facing your neighbors, the streets are quite narrow, and sun can not really enter in. Which was important for me, since I love air and light. But it is relevant for longer stays, since we were mostly out and doing sightseeing.
-We could not figure out the washing machine, and even with emails, I was still not sure if it washed or only wet our cloths. Simple instructions on a 'posted' on the machine would be nice :)
-Something has to be definitely done with the door to the bathroom, since we were in 2 and the door simply does not close well. Sometimes when it does it suddenly opens, and I didn't fancy that.
With the little improvements we would stay again and possibly try some other apartments that Lucas has to offer.

    Response from Lucas:

THANK YOU VERY MUCH Julia!!! Hope to see you soon, you are always welcome in Barcelona!! : )

  • Super recomendable, nos atendieron muy bien, llegamos un poco tarde y no tuvimos ningún problema para comunicarnos con ellos.
Es un apartamento tranquilo, acogedor, super bien situado, excelente para pasar unos días con la pareja.

  • We have rented this apartment for December 2013.

It was an amazing month, we enjoyed every minute. Apartment itself is really cosy. Location is superb. El Born district is very much like a fairytale. We were especially fortunate for Cafés El Magnífico nearby with the best coffee in Barcelona. For groceries we used De Tot al Born just a few blocks away. The beach is just 10-15 minutes away.

Self-checkout was very convenient (we had an early flight out).

  • We loved Barcelona. The location of this apartment couldn't have been better, we were right in the middle of all the activity and enjoyed walking out and seeing the old part of the city.
The apartment was spacious and the window were opened almost all of our stay. We rented bikes not far from the apartment and enjoyed riding along the water seeing the sites.
We had trouble with the washer and never did get things figured out. Lucas emailed with us back and forth but the problem didn't get resolved. We had some plaster come up in the bathroom on the floor and it was fixed right away. Our one concern was that someone came into the apartment to fix it while we were gone and we weren't informed about this happening. It was a little of a surprise to have this happen.
We were met with a young girl who showed us the apartment. She was extremely friendly and helpful when checking in.
It is a bit noisy with the late night dining nearby but earplugs and closing the windows does help. We'd stay again.

  • I lived in the apartment for a month and it was lovely. It looks exactly as it does in the pictures and is very well located. I did most of my exploring on foot, and for something far away there is always the metro stop just a street away. The kitchen and bathroom are nice, great water pressure/heat, very good wifi connection, everything works as it should. The balconies are loads of fun to relax on or just to let the sun in.

Some possible downsides: The apartment is not on the first floor as advertised but on the second. When I arrived there was very little in the way of supplies, nothing to drink or ever toilet paper, which was kind of annoying after traveling for such a long time to get there. I did buy a lot of tea/coffee/washing supplies and such and left them behind, so hopefully the person after me will be luckier ;) There can be LOTS of noise from the street, so bring your earplugs. It can also be quite cold (even in spring) I would not want to stay there in winter, I really doubt it can be heated sufficiently.

Overall through my experience was very positive. I would recommend this apartment for both short and long stays. The owner was quick to respond to any questions and friendly, I felt safe there as a woman alone (there are several doors between the apartment and the street), and living there gave me a great opportunity to see a bit more of the 'real' Barcelona. It really is a good place to be, so if you are reading this and thinking about going, do it! You won't regret it :)

  • The apartment was lovely and located in the beautiful Gothic quarter of Barcelona. There was quite a bit of noise from the street but that is to be expected in the middle of the city and with ear plugs you'll be fine.
The apartment was comfortable but not perfectly clean, especially the floors needed a bit of a wipe. However, the girl who welcomed us was very helpful and nice.

  • Lucas was a great host and we had a great time at this place.
The flat has a lot of light and is very well located, only a few meters away from Jaume I station. The area is surrounded by cool bars and restaurants and many of the attractions are within a 5-10 min walk.
The flat has most of what you need for a short stay. Recommended!

  • Amazing location and reasonable space. One thing, though: the apartment is not well prepared for the winter cold (unusual in Barcelona, but it can happen). If you plan to go there in winter make sure to ask the host for extra heating devices and/or blankets.

By the way: the host was very accommodating and flexible. I'd definitely consider staying there again for the convenience of the location (although probably not in winter!)
