Fun and warm couple love to host travelers in their unique home in the north Philly suburbs. Private safe wooded neighborhood. You will have a private room with either a King, Queen or twin sized bed and a bath shared with other guests, if any. Enjoy a cozy fire in the cool weather, and our azalea filled patio in the spring and summer.
Perfect place to stay for visiting Arcadia University, Tyler, Penn State Abington or Temple. Or if you want to see Philly and the environs but don't want the hassle of driving and parking in the city.
You are welcome to use the kitchen and laundry facilities. We stock healthy, delicious fruit, yogurt, coffees, teas, breads and cereals for you to enjoy before you set out on your Philly adventures. (soon we'll have fresh eggs, our chicks are 4 weeks old as of the end of April)
This is an active home. Though the guest area is private, the public areas are where we live, eat and play. We have a lot of guests and you are likely to walk in on a people playing music and waltzing in the kitchen, especially when our daughter and her friends are home from college. If you are looking for a pristine hotel-like environment, this is not the place for you. It's clean, but lived in.
We have a sweet Cavalier Spaniel, 2 cats, 6 chicks in the outside coop, and a bunny named Linguini that is sometimes invited to hop around the living room. Your well behaved pet is welcome.
Leave your car with us and take a quick 20 minute train ride to the heart of the city. We are also on a direct train route to the airport ( 50 minutes). One hour drive to Amish country, or to the wineries and antique shops of New Hope.
My husband I really enjoyed our stay at Rory's place. Very comfortable room, and friendly people. They didn't mind at all that we arrived so late at night. Great kitties too.
Rory and Matthew were great hosts--they were both very hospitable and welcoming. Room was cozy and bed was comfortable. Even though there was plenty of food for us to choose from for breakfast Matthew made us delicious pancakes--thank you!! Really great experience.
Rory and Matt's house is a relaxing retreat from city life. A short walk from the commuter rail, we very much enjoyed staying here. Thank you so much.
My King Charles spaniel, Jonesy and I had a wonderful stay with Matt, Rory, and their adorable King Charles spaniel, Co-Co! Their home was such a cozy place to reside for the few weeks that I was in town for work. Their home in Wyncote was also a special place to stay during the holiday season. Snow, snow, snow! Matt and Rory are also brilliant, talented, musical people which made our stay with them even more lovely. Highly recommend.
We are really glad, that we had the chance to stay with Rory and Matt. We felt very welcomed and enjoyed hanging around there. Both are very open and helpful.
Their home is a relaxing place but also close to the city. Transportation to the city is within 10 minutes walking distance and 20 minutes ride on the train. We would love to stay with them again!
What a great stay! Thank you so much for having us! Rory's home is very cozy and beautifully eclectic and perfectly located. It's just a short walk to the train station and a 20min ride into center city. I was there just for a couple of nights and really enjoyed chatting with her and the other guests. Very artist friendly! Definitely would stay again!
What a wonderful summer! Fact: Rory is an amazing chef who is full of life and adventure (and will coax you to join in)! Mathew is a phenomenally talented musician and the best joke teller we’ve ever met. Together, they are an unstoppable force of hospitality. We stayed with Rory and Mathew for 10 weeks with our dog, and quite honestly, we felt spoiled. We consider both of these wonderful people our friends and miss them terribly! But we had to leave so that you too could have the privilege of staying with them. AH KREPLACH! That's an inside joke—ask Mathew and Rory about it.
Rory and Matt are wonderful people. We only stayed for a few nights, but they made us feel very welcome and suggested some nice things to do in Phila. When we arrived they had a welcome packet ready for us, and a binder with folders off all great things to do in the city. Breakfast was extremely delicious and healthy. The bed was very big and so nice. Transportation to the city took 10 minutes walk to the train station and 20 minutes ride on the train. I would definitely recommend this place, the best stay we had during our journey. Thank you Rory and Matt!!
Rory was out of town when we visited, but Mat was extremely hospitable, and both seem to be wonderful people. Their large and friendly home is about an 8-10 minute walk from SEPTA, on a lovey street near a small beautiful park, and an easy commute into center city. Mat and Rory hosted us and our 3 year old son, who loved their cats and dog. The house is friendly and accommodating and feels like a real home.
i had the chance to stay to stay at Rory's home during a lovely spring weekend. It's a cozy and very relaxed/chill place nestled on a quiet street of a small suburb of Philly. (Downtown and other points of interest were a half hour away by car). The bedroom was comfortable and the bathroom was well-kept. If you're an animal love, there are two very friendly cats who roam the house and will want to sit on your lap. There are also four chickens who live in the backyard. A getaway from the hustle and bustle of downtown.
