Description

The space

Fun and warm couple love to host travelers in their unique home in the north Philly suburbs. Private safe wooded neighborhood. You will have a private room with either a King, Queen or twin sized bed and a bath shared with other guests, if any. Enjoy a cozy fire in the cool weather, and our azalea filled patio in the spring and summer.

As we mature as airbnb hosts, we find that we are best suited for longer term guests (2 weeks +). This is a perfect place to stay for doing medical rotations, or training at Salus, or doing an internship, or to stay while you find a more permanent home to buy or rent.

If we don't have longer term guests, we welcome overnight guests.

You are welcome to use the kitchen and laundry facilities. We stock healthy, delicious fruit, yogurt, coffees, teas, breads and cereals for you to enjoy before you set out on your Philly adventures.

This is an active home. Though the guest area is private, the public areas are where we live, eat and play. We have a lot of guests and you are likely to walk in on a people playing music and waltzing in the kitchen, especially when our daughter and her friends are here. If you are looking for a pristine hotel-like environment, this is not the place for you. It's clean, but lived in.

We have a sweet Cavalier Spaniel and 2 cats. Your well behaved pet is welcome, but check with us first. If your pet doesn't get along in the house, they will stay in your room.

Leave your car with us and take a quick 20 minute train ride to the heart of the city. We are also on a direct train route to the airport ( 50 minutes). One hour drive to Amish country, or to the wineries and antique shops of New Hope.

Guest access

Guests have access to the living room, dining room and kitchen as well as the outdoor patio for relaxing in nice weather. Laundry facilities are also available.

Interaction with guests

If we are home, we interact a lot with our guests. Many become like family. We eat together, enjoy a drink in the evening, play music if you are into that sort of thing.

Getting around

We are a 10 minute walk from the Septa train line that runs into center city philadelphia. Train takes about 20 minutes and costs $10-12 round trip. There are shopping areas within a mile walk from the house, but nothing right next door.

The area is great for walking in, enjoying the quiet neighborhood, grand turn of the century philadelphia homes, and two nice parks.

House Rules
No smoking
No parties or events

No smoking or smokers. Must be OK with 2 cats and small dog that live here. We live in a quiet residential neighborhood, so quiet after 11 pm. OK to have visitors that respect house rules. Well behaved pets OK, check with us. The security deposit covers the cost of key replacement if you forget to leave it with us, or any pet-related cleaning that might have to be done.

If you're looking for a peaceful, safe and quiet place Rory's home is the best 1 to booked. Location wise it's near to public transport and mall. They treated me well like a family. Rory is a good cooked and you will enjoy it. This is my first time to booked airbnb and they made me trust airbnb for me to booked again in the future. Above all they are the people with a good heart and a great host indeed.

Rory and Matt and are incredibly welcoming and did a fantastic job of making me feel at home during a difficult lull in my life. They'll quickly integrate you into their routines, including wonderful homemade meals. There aren't many long-term stay options as friendly and accommodating as theirs.

Rory and Matt are excel at being fair, intelligent, open minded reliable and realistic hosts. They have a property in a scenic neighborhood with charming and yet an eclectic inside space. Their hosting skills and personability were very comforting and would make any guest feel at home in front of the fireplace ! The bedroom was spacious and had a wall to wall closet that was brilliant for all our things. The water was hot, the kichen fully equipped and thier cooking nourishing and full of flavour. Game nights and conversation and the bucolic walkable beauty of the area made for a VERY peaceful stay. One saw two deer, foxes and many lovely birds right outside the bedroom window on the hill outside to the back of the property. Nature abounds. There is a township park with a man made pond and benches literally steps from the property. All this, yet with walking distance to public transportation to City Center. If you need somewhere to stay just outside of Philadelphia for a month or more they offer more than just a comfortable bed. Hilly, fresh vistas of sylvan charm await at this at hosting. A true holistic retreat space which I highly recommend for anyone who is an appreciator of small town/ scenic country yet with fast commuter links.

Wow. From day one, Rory and Matt made me feel like family. Their home is comfortable and inviting and I had a wonderful month with them. They were kind enough to share their meals with me and even invited me to many events that they attended. I loved spending time with their two cats and dog, as well (this is a great place for animal lovers!). I don't think you will find kinder, warmer people; I cannot recommend them enough.

A great place if you have a car and want to explore the area. I was visiting nearby family so it was perfect. I think it's too far for Phila. tourists. It is definitely living in a home and don't expect hotel amenities.

Rory and Mat are amazing hosts and just generous people! They have made our experience of being in-between homes truly stress-free and actually really pleasant. We are really happy to have found this place as a temporary home and made great new friends.

This trip was my first time being alone away from my family for an extended period, and being connected with Rory was one of the best things that could have happened to me. They made me feel at home and made the transition to a new environment much easier. Aside from making my stay very enjoyable, they are some of the nicest people I have ever met, and really took the time to get to know me and include me in family activities. If you have the opportunity to stay with Rory, you should, because you will not regret it! I had a blast staying with them, and I hope to stay with them again in the future.

We are Mat Clark and Rory Cohen. Mat is a primary care physician and Rory a transformational life coach. We have grown children. There is a lot of music, dancing and singing in our home. Mat plays fiddle, mandolin, banjo and stand up bass, Rory plays drums and sings. We go contra and swing dancing, and are plugged into that community if you have the interest. We love to host people from around the world and have been doing so for several years. We also enjoy traveling, preferring working vacations (like volunteering or wwoofing) or adventure (like backpacking and biking). We are environmentally and community-minded. We have 2 cats and a small doggie. Rory loves to cook and bake, and to explore the world through food and art. You are always invited to join us for dinner if we are cooking while you're here. We appreciate guests who are self-sufficient.
