Fun and warm couple love to host travelers in their unique home in the north Philly suburbs. Private safe wooded neighborhood. You will have a private room with either a King, Queen or twin sized bed and a bath shared with other guests, if any. Enjoy a cozy fire in the cool weather, and our azalea filled patio in the spring and summer.
Perfect place to stay for visiting Arcadia University, Tyler, Penn State Abington or Temple. Or if you want to see Philly and the environs but don't want the hassle of driving and parking in the city.
You are welcome to use the kitchen and laundry facilities. We stock healthy, delicious fruit, yogurt, coffees, teas, breads and cereals for you to enjoy before you set out on your Philly adventures. (soon we'll have fresh eggs, our chicks are 4 weeks old as of the end of April)
This is an active home. Though the guest area is private, the public areas are where we live, eat and play. We have a lot of guests and you are likely to walk in on a people playing music and waltzing in the kitchen, especially when our daughter and her friends are home from college. If you are looking for a pristine hotel-like environment, this is not the place for you. It's clean, but lived in.
We have a sweet Cavalier Spaniel, 2 cats, 6 chicks in the outside coop, and a bunny named Linguini that is sometimes invited to hop around the living room. Your well behaved pet is welcome.
Leave your car with us and take a quick 20 minute train ride to the heart of the city. We are also on a direct train route to the airport ( 50 minutes). One hour drive to Amish country, or to the wineries and antique shops of New Hope.
This was a great stay. A homey stay for the month with great conversation, food, and overall hospitality. Included me like family and made my stay in Philadelphia great.
My husband I really enjoyed our stay at Rory's place. Very comfortable room, and friendly people. They didn't mind at all that we arrived so late at night. Great kitties too.
It's a really warm place to stay: ) My friends and I feel like home when we were there. It's so pity that we only spent one night there! Rory and her husband are very kind, the room we live that day is also cozy and lovely: ) We really like this place! Although Rory's house is not located in the downtown of Philadelphia, the convenient transportation makes it easy to arrive there, if you want to visit Philadelphia through car or just via public transportation, I will highly recommend this place to you!!!!!!!! We also meet other guests from other city in Rory's house, it's really a nice experience to spend our trip there: )
We were in town as vendors for a craft show and Rory was only 10 minutes away from the venue. I am so glad we didn't stay in a hotel, this was way more fun. We were treated to breakfast both mornings, including some amazing pumpkin pancakes! Rory even had the chance to stop by the craft show and show her support. Overall a very pleasant experience.
This was my first experience with airbnb so I didn't know what to expect. I would absolutely do it again. I just started graduate school in Glenside, PA and it is a bit of a commute for me back to NJ everyday so I decided to give airbnb a try. I found Rory and Matt's place on the website. They had great pictures and a comprehensive profile which helped me make my decision.
The process was relatively easy and the host responded quickly which was great, especially since I needed a place to stay in two days from when I began my search. I don't recommend waiting because a lot of places were already booked.
I did have a small problem with the confirmation of the reservation but I called customer service and they responded very quickly to help me with my issue.
The house I stayed at was great. The host were very accommodating. I felt very comfortable. I wasn't sure at first how I would feel about the arrangement but once I met Matt he really made me feel welcome.
I will definitely use airbnb again. I loved the whole experience. There was something very wholesome about it.
We greatly appreciated this stay. Our host gave us great recommendations for dinner and desert - fit exactly what we imagined. The location was terrific. There is a cute little town within walking distance. There was a park down the street for our dogs to stretch their legs. The home experience was also very nice.
Thanks so much!
Rory and Matthew were great hosts--they were both very hospitable and welcoming. Room was cozy and bed was comfortable. Even though there was plenty of food for us to choose from for breakfast Matthew made us delicious pancakes--thank you!! Really great experience.
Rory and Matt's house is a relaxing retreat from city life. A short walk from the commuter rail, we very much enjoyed staying here. Thank you so much.
My King Charles spaniel, Jonesy and I had a wonderful stay with Matt, Rory, and their adorable King Charles spaniel, Co-Co! Their home was such a cozy place to reside for the few weeks that I was in town for work. Their home in Wyncote was also a special place to stay during the holiday season. Snow, snow, snow! Matt and Rory are also brilliant, talented, musical people which made our stay with them even more lovely. Highly recommend.
We are really glad, that we had the chance to stay with Rory and Matt. We felt very welcomed and enjoyed hanging around there. Both are very open and helpful.
Their home is a relaxing place but also close to the city. Transportation to the city is within 10 minutes walking distance and 20 minutes ride on the train. We would love to stay with them again!
