Spectacular houseboat city centre

Boat - Entire home/apt · Van Diemenkade, Amsterdam, North Holland 1013, Netherlands

We were able to build our dream. A unique, modern and comfortable houseboat of 35 x 6 meters. Some call it a yacht-villa. We designed an independent studio in the bow of the boat. So you can share our experience of living the good life on the water.

The Space

The nautical boutique style studio is situated in the bow of houseboat "Tasmania". You get your own private space with a private entrance and en-suite bathroom with great shower and toilet. It has underfloor heating and is cosy and warm in the wintertime.

From the bed, you can look at the stars or the full moon. On the private deck you can enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sunset and the beautiful row of old seventeenth century warehouses.
The Tasmania lies at the edge of the city centre in the old woodharbor, a secret hideaway just around the corner of the bustling city centre. Quiet and beautiful, it is situated in the heart of the architectural redeveloped waterfront of Amsterdam.

- 5 minute walk to Jordaan neighborhood, the lovely canal district and the most popular shopping street of 2012: the Haarlemmerstraat.
- 10 minute walk to hip and happening Westerpark
- 15 minute walk to Central Station (or take bus 48)
- 2 minute walk to Tram stop (line 3 to Museum District: Van Gogh Museum, Rijks Museum, Stedelijk Museum and to the Concertgebouw)
- the boat can be reached from Central Station on foot, by bus, by car or by taxi. (only guests who park their car for free in Amsterdam Noord, need to take the free ferry back to the boat)

Good food in great restaurants is near at all times of the day and night. We are happy to provide you with a list of our favorites.

  • Sonja's houseboat is really spectacular and perfect for a couple to spend some time in Amsterdam. The place is cool and clean. With the bikes that are included getting in to town is really easy.
As an added bonus Sonja provided wine, grapes, snacks and breakfast for the first morning. That was unexpected and a really nice touch.
We are more than happy to recommend this place.

  • We had a wonderful stay there! Sonja is such a great host! If again in Amsterdam, we will definitively stay on that beautiful houseboat! Loved everything, from the Nespresso machine to the fresh bread. THE place to stay.

  • I spent 2 nights and 3 days on this boat. I highly recommand this place and its hosts. There was an independant studio for us in the boat; It was very well prepared and decorated! We had the possibility to use city guides. It is very close to the city center with the bikes and also very quiet at night.

  • Me and my friend had a fabulous stay in the houseboat. It was much more than expected. Easy access and "check-in", bread, cookies, drink and enough supplies to eat some arrivalfood so we didnt have to stress to find a shop. The bikes used only 15 minutes to city centre and with taxi it was only 7-8 minutes so a very central and nice play to stay. Thank you so much for the high standard stay in you´re wonderful houseboat.

  • It was absolutely fantastic - would love to come back

  • Sonja wasn't there, but her parents were when we arrived. Ralph was the best and kindest host we could ever ask for, he was a great help to us during our short stay in the Netherlands, and we would definitely come back to visit again. Hopefully next time we would be able to meet Sonja perhaps! Thank you so much again for hosting us, your boat was absolutely beautiful and the entire experience really made our visit to to Amsterdam an unforgettable one.

P.S. The cat (Boris I believe?) was amazing, I've never met a more friendly cat!

  • From the moment we arrived at the harbour and spotted the Tasmania we knew we were in for a fantastic time! A truly lovely place to spend your holiday down time, and her location is perfect if your looking to explore Amsterdam. Her owners Sonja and Michael have done such a perfect job of creating a masterpiece of a home to live in and it's a pleasure to spend time on board their dream boat. It completely made our Christmas holiday for us. Modern designed room, well thought out, comfy bed, mood lighting, tv, fridge, IPod Dock, coffee machine, spotlessly clean, and we were even left a full fridge and some food for breakfast to snack on. We would recommend a stay on board the Tasmania to anyone and hope to return in the future. Marie and Mark

About
Many guests have asked: "What was this boat before you reconverted it?" The answer is simple: it didn't exist. It was custom build. In October 2011 the "Tasmania" arrived in Amsterdam. Our dream came true and we would love to share that dream with you. We are hard working film and television professionals. Before building this boat we used to travel a lot. Now every day feels like a holiday. When we are at home we'll be happy to welcome you and tell you everything you want to know about Amsterdam and the boat. But most of the time we're out working. It will make your stay more private. We hope the studio apartment appeals to people who like to travel independent, just like us.
