Quiet, 5th floor apartment in an elevator building with roof access in beautiful, leafy, Brownstone-clad Park Slope, Brooklyn, sporting a gorgeous view of NYC and easy access to three major subway lines and a park. Steps away from cafes and bars.
Our apartment is on the fifth floor of an elevator building in leafy, Brownstone-clad Park Slope, Brooklyn. Due to how high up we are in the building, it sports a beautiful view of NYC. We like to describe the look of the neighborhood as akin to the Upper West Side in Manhattan but on a gentle incline and in a different borough : )
It's quite safe in our opinion and is within spitting distance of dozens of restaurants, bars, cafes and the F, G and R train lines (10-15 minutes from Downtown Manhattan), several gyms and a post office.
It's about 3 blocks from Prospect Park and an easy walk to the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) which hosts international cutting edge performances, the Brooklyn Museum, the Botanical Garden, the brand new Barclays Center, the Brooklyn Public Library, gorgeous Greenwood Cemetery (final resting places of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Leonard Bernstein and Louis Comfort Tiffany) and some really great neighborhoods (Fort Greene, Carroll Gardens, Boerum Hill, etc.).
The huge, accessible roof has a sweeping view of Manhattan (from the tip of downtown to the Chrysler Building) and Brooklyn skylines, the Statue of Liberty/NY Harbor and the Manhattan, Williamsburg and Verranzano Bridges.
The room itself occupies the former dining area of this apartment. It has been completely "curtained off" with fabric that both gives you privacy but lets light enter your room. Within the room there is a fold out sofa, a dresser, lamp, small table, chair and half of a full size closet. The kitchen and bathroom are closeby and there is a large living room with lots of natural light. If you are an animal lover, you're in luck--there are two darlin' kitties in residence.

After spending about 2 weeks with Mark and Stoph I'm happy to confirm all raving reviews below. Go native among the natives with these 2 Brooklynites and don't forget to ask them about the amazing restaurants around Brooklyn's 5th Avenue, and NY theaters and shows. Good bed, Sweet Cat(s), Clean, and amazing Coffee Machine. Important asset to me: proximity to metro lines. Great view, not lofty but a very Cosy and Happy House!
Mark and Stoph are amazing people and we will definitely be coming back to visit them in the future. They were extremely helpful in giving us advice about the city and treated us just like old friends as soon as we walked in the door. Their apartment is cozy, cute, and comfortable and I loved having their two adorable cats in there too!!! Thanks for a great trip guys!!!!
Absolutely wonderful hosts. Very knowledgeable about the area and the city in general. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to stay in the city.
Mark and Stoph are really sweet and kind people. They made my stay really comfortable and guided me with a lot of things. The house is beautiful and the kitties are very friendly and adorable. I would love to stay with them again. Thanks for making my trip really comfortable and memorable.
Mark and Stoph were completely gracious and accommodating. There were two great kitties to snuggle with, a very comfortable bed, and coffee in the morning! Park Slope is especially well
located. High marks!
Once you have integrated the fact that you will sleep in a room with curtain walls , everything runs fine.
The bed is excellent ( in fact you get the impression of sleeping in a four posted bed ) and you can well recover from hard NYC days. Mark and Stoph are adorable hosts, they make minimum noise when you are in the room. We had great talks with them and shared a couple of drinks . They gave good advices for nearby restaurants and possible visits.
The flat is very clean and you can use kitchen and living room.
Park slope area is great - even fantastic if you are a jogger.
Although it was december we went to the roof top to enjoy the view on Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Good and close metro connections
Rascal and Cinder ( the cats ) are nice even if you are not specifically a cats fan
So just everything just positive
Would recommend Mark and Stoph's place to anybody
Mark and Stoph were excellent hosts on my recent trip to New York City. Their apartment was very clean, comfortable and decorated very nicely. They had great ideas on places to eat and sites to see. I would not hesitate to stay with them again.
A sweet place with a spectacular view! Open and airy view of the Manhattan skyline. The apartment is very clean and no one could be more friendly than Mark and Stoph. They pointed me in all the right directions. Everything you need can be found just a couple of blocks away. I wish I could have stayed longed. I can't wait to go back!
Had a great stay! Very welcoming and helpful with information about the area. We would definitely stay with them again!
I had a wonderful stay with Mark and Stoph!! They were extra engaging, charming, and always helpful. The bed is very comfortable, the cats are adorable, the conversation was always good. The VIEW atop the building was amazing. Park Slope, Brooklyn is a lovely area with so much history and a palpable creative energy. It was a visual treat to walk through stunning Prospect Park on a beautiful Fall morning. The area is full of character brownstones, mature trees with brightly colored leaves, vintage boutiques, quirky cafes, and restaurants. Its a hop and a skip away from the train and a short ride to Manhattan. They could not have been any nicer.
I highly recommend staying with Mark and Stoph! Do it! :)
