Quiet, 5th floor apt. in elevator building with roof access(!) in beautiful, leafy, Brownstone-clad Park Slope--sporting gorgeous views of NYC w/ easy access to 3 subway lines and Prospect Park! Steps away from scores of fabulous cafes and bars…
Our apartment is on the fifth floor of an elevator building in leafy, Brownstone-clad Park Slope, Brooklyn. Due to how high up we are in the building, it sports a beautiful view of NYC. We like to describe the look of the neighborhood as akin to the Upper West Side in Manhattan but on a gentle incline and in a different borough : )
It's quite safe in our opinion and is within spitting distance of dozens of restaurants, bars, cafes and the F, G and R train lines (10-15 minutes from Downtown Manhattan), several gyms and a post office.
It's about 3 blocks from Prospect Park and an easy walk to the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) which hosts international cutting edge performances, the Brooklyn Museum, the Botanical Garden, the brand new Barclays Center, the Brooklyn Public Library, gorgeous Greenwood Cemetery (final resting places of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Leonard Bernstein and Louis Comfort Tiffany) and some really great neighborhoods (Fort Greene, Carroll Gardens, Boerum Hill, etc.).
The huge, accessible roof has a sweeping view of Manhattan (from the tip of downtown to the Chrysler Building) and Brooklyn skylines, the Statue of Liberty/NY Harbor and the Manhattan, Williamsburg and Verranzano Bridges.
The room itself occupies the former dining area of this apartment. It has been completely "curtained off" with fabric that both gives you privacy but lets light enter your room. Within the room there is a fold out sofa, a dresser, lamp, small table, chair and half of a full size closet. The kitchen and bathroom are closeby and there is a large living room with lots of natural light. If you are an animal lover, you're in luck--there are two darlin' kitties in residence.
Mark and Stoph are very warm and positive people. The cats are a pleasure to be around, especially Rascal who is an affectionate creature:)The place is cozy and comfortable. It is very close to the subway and I found the neighborhood to be very safe and friendly!
From the moment we arrived, Mark & Stoph made us feel welcome & at home. We absolutely loved our stay & it was just like a little holiday with friends. Rascal & Cinder greeting us each night at the door made our stay that much more lovely.
The room is great & bed comfortable, & everything (including a much appreciated USA power adapter!) was provided.
We would highly recommend staying in Park Slope - it is a beautiful part of Brooklyn.
Thank you guys :-) xx
For two newcomers to city life, we couldn't have asked for better hosts! Mark and Stoph gave excellent touring/eating recommendations and the location of the apartment was perfect! We couldn't give a higher recommendation than to stay with them for your visit to NY!
Sweet and spectacular is the perfect description for this sweet apartment with this spectacular view! We really enjoyed our stay there especially the good subway connection and the breakfast in the diners just a block away. The bed is super comfortable and the shower has amazing water pressure :D we will definitely come back! Ps use the walking New York cards! Thanks for everything guys!
Mark and Stoph are very kind and friendly people, generous and respectful of privacy. We had some lovely chats and they gave me tips about New York. Their apartment is clean, spacious, with an amazing view and closed to the subway F and R. Bed is comfortable and located in a corner of the living room with closet and chest of drawers. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for a good american experience.
We really enjoyed our stay in the lovely apartment. Although we didn't meet them, both Mark and Stoph were very helpful and communicative over the phone, and willing to help out in any way we needed. The cats were so friendly, Rascal in particular! The location of the apartment is perfect; out of the way of the craziness of Manhattan, in a nice neighbourhood with lots of nice shops and cafes. It was about a 2 minute walk to the nearest subway which was ideal. Overall, we had a really great stay. Thank you for having us!
P.s. We would recommend checking out the view from the rooftop at night! It was pretty cool.
Mark and Stoph are really nice people. The house is very clean and has a comfortable bed.the cats are adorable.especially Rascal. I really had a great time in NY. thanks for everything you provided. :).
