About This Listing
Quiet, 5th floor apt. in elevator building with roof access(!) in beautiful, leafy, Brownstone-clad Park Slope--sporting gorgeous views of NYC w/ easy access to 3 subway lines and Prospect Park! Steps away from scores of fabulous cafes and bars…
Our apartment is on the fifth floor of an elevator building in leafy, Brownstone-clad Park Slope, Brooklyn. Due to how high up we are in the building, it sports a beautiful view of NYC. We like to describe the look of the neighborhood as akin to the Upper West Side in Manhattan but on a gentle incline and in a different borough : )
It's quite safe in our opinion and is within spitting distance of dozens of restaurants, bars, cafes and the F, G and R train lines (10-15 minutes from Downtown Manhattan), several gyms and a post office.
It's about 3 blocks from Prospect Park and an easy walk to the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) which hosts international cutting edge performances, the Brooklyn Museum, the Botanical Garden, the brand new Barclays Center, the Brooklyn Public Library, gorgeous Greenwood Cemetery (final resting places of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Leonard Bernstein and Louis Comfort Tiffany) and some really great neighborhoods (Fort Greene, Carroll Gardens, Boerum Hill, etc.).
The huge, accessible roof has a sweeping view of Manhattan (from the tip of downtown to the Chrysler Building) and Brooklyn skylines, the Statue of Liberty/NY Harbor and the Manhattan, Williamsburg and Verranzano Bridges.
The room itself occupies the former dining area of this apartment. It has been completely "curtained off" with fabric that both gives you privacy but lets light enter your room. Within the room there is a fold out sofa, a dresser, lamp, small table, chair and half of a full size closet. The kitchen and bathroom are closeby and there is a large living room with lots of natural light. If you are an animal lover, you're in luck--there are two darlin' kitties in residence.
One of New York's most beautiful and green neighborhoods!
Mark and Stoph made us feel so welcome in their beautiful apartment. It was our first airbnb experience and we would highly recommend staying with Mark and Stoph to anyone looking for a place to stay in New York. The apartment was just around the corner from heaps of awesome restaurants, grocery stores and laundry services which was really helpful for the afternoons we didn't feel like venturing too far out for dinner. Brooklyn was our favourite burrow in New York and Mark and Stoph were so knowledgable about the area we didn't need to spend much time researching anything. The subway is just two blocks away and the roof top access is great for looking out across New York while having a cup of coffee. We give Mark and Stoph's airbnb 5 stars. :)
My sister surprised me with a NYC getaway trip and she decided to book with Mark and Stoph. I am so glad that she did because our host were super friendly and made us feel extremely welcomed. They even had books and brochures laid out, in case we needed to plan for our daily activities in NYC. They have two cats and the cats stay in their room at night but in the morning, you may find the cats on your bed greeting you or sleeping by your feet- Rascal and Cinder are too cute!! The pictures and descriptions were exactly true to what was written. They really do have a beautiful view and the subway (F train/R train) was really easy to get to. Our stay was extremely enjoyable and we always felt safe. If I come back, I'll be staying here again, for sure! I would highly recommend to stay at their place.
Mark and Stoph are great and they are very good at giving you privacy.
Even though we only saw each other once, they were very present by messages and also very reachable in case you need any advice.
The apartment was a 5 min walk to the subway station with a direct line to Manhattan (about 15 min to downtown area).
I definitely recommend staying there. Plus, you will be greeted by Rascal and Cinder, the most lovable cats from NYC!
What a great place to stay! Mark and Stoph provided both comfort and privacy when needed. A perfect place to stay when in Brooklyn. Highly recommend it!
I had a terrific stay. Both Mark and Stoph were very welcoming and knowledgeable about the surrounding areas. I was able to come and go as I please and it was a very positive experience. It is just a few minutes walk to the subway, in a great part of Brooklyn.
I would wholeheartedly recommend staying here.
Sweet n'spectacular couldn't be a better description! 100% would recommend anyone to stay, Mark, Stoph and the two kitties are great hosts! It is such a lovely neighbourhood, felt completely safe and there's everything you could need right on your doorstep.
Whether you're exploring Brooklyn itself (and you should!) or heading into Manhattan daily, it's a great base for both. It's so handy to get to the subway and really close to prospect park too.
Everything is as described-including that amazing view! Which you can see from the window in the apartment and also from the roof which is worth going up to and taking that in.
Any questions, anything I needed Mark & Stoph were only to happy to help and definitely pick their brains if you're looking for any recommendations or info on places to go/eat/see and how to get there.
The only thing I can think to say is the room is possibly bright for sleeping.....but I sleep with an eyemask so it's not actually something that affected me, but I know it might be a big deal for others.
Had such a great stay, was made feel so welcome and wouldn't hesitate to go back! :)

The best for you, it was a pleasure meeting you. Surely if I return, I'll be knocking on your door:-))
