Relax in comfort and beauty in our 2 bedroom apartment, which opens out onto our beautiful organic gardens. Just beyond the gardens is the peaceful lake, surrounded by forests, with a view of the mountains. This paradise is only 5 miles from town.

The space
We are an all-vegan bed and breakfast -- the only one in Alaska, to our knowledge!

Enjoy a full kitchen, with VitaMix, large refrigerator, gas stove with oven.

We have a queen bed in one of the bedrooms and a double and twin in the second bedroom.

The apartment has everything you need for a short -- or an extended-- stay, including a washer and dryer.

Guest access
Eat your breakfast outdoors at the picnic table, or indoors with a view of the lake and gardens.
Depending upon when you visit, fresh garden vegetables may be available.
We have 2 bicycles for your use.
We also have a canoe and 2 kayaks you may use upon approval.

Other things to note
This is a great place to stay while taking day trips. Hatcher Pass is only 45 minutes from here and provides endless hiking trails. Flight tours from Talkeetna, only 90 minutes from here, can take you to Denali. The Matanuska Glacier is spectacular, just 90 minutes in a different direction.
You can walk on the glacier, or take a white water rafting trip on the river. A zipline is also available near-by.

If you want to explore Anchorage, it's just an hour's drive. The Musk Ox Farm and Reindeer Farm are other places of interest nearby, in the Palmer area.

Summers in Alaska are spectacular, and our long summer daylight allows you to enjoy it even more!

Location

Wasilla, Alaska, United States

We live in a very quiet neighborhood. The main noises you hear will be loons, and float planes taking off and landing on the lake occasionally.
Although we feel secluded, we're only half a mile from the Parks Highway, and 5 minutes from Wasilla. There are restaurants and grocery stores from 2 - 7 miles from here. A good selection of natural foods and organic produce is available in Wasilla, just 5 miles away.

We both love nature and the outdoors and feel so grateful to live on a quiet lake, with woods and mountains surrounding us. We are avid gardeners and love kayaking on the lake all summer. In the winter, we ski on the lake. Delisa grew up in Alaska, arriving in an old school bus with her parents and siblings in 1957 when she was just 6 years old. Her childhood includes kerosene lamps and outhouses, and lots of music. Delisa's parents purchased the land where Lakeside Gardens is located in 1961, and she and her siblings loved swimming in the lake and playing music on the huge raft that they would paddle out into the middle of the lake. Delisa's mother had the house built in 1986-87, with the forethought of including an apartment "for the gardener." Little did she know that the gardener would be her own daughter, who lived there to take care of her mother for the last years of her life. Charlie grew up in Colorado and after a very serendipitous meeting, he and Delisa were married in 1997. Charlie is an avid nature photographer, so he was thrilled to move to Alaska where he could enjoy the unique beauty and wildlife of this great land. Delisa has been vegan for about 25 years, and Charlie became vegan overnight when he married Delisa. He likes to joke that it was a prenuptial agreement! We are co-founders of the Alaska Vegan Society, which meets monthly in Palmer. If you are here the last Saturday of the month, I hope you'll join us for our monthly potluck! Delisa teaches plant-based nutrition and cooking classes locally as well as online. She is passionate about helping bring healing and harmony to our world. People often ask, "Isn't it hard being vegan in Alaska?" The answer is no -- we can purchase everything we need locally. And in the summer, we have an amazing organic garden that grows like crazy during the long summer days. We are thrilled to share our little piece of paradise with you, and can't wait to learn about you as well.
