The Space

If adventure is your compass, then you don't want to miss experiencing outdoor living/sleeping at it's best. This covered log porch styled loft is unique and open. With one queen bed, porch swing and log rocking chairs to relax in.

This can be your layover spot while visiting Cody, WY. We are located approximately 60 miles away from the east entrance to Yellowstone National Park and just 15 miles from the town of Cody that features the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, Buffalo Bill Dam, Old Trail Town, Art galleries, nightly rodeo or fine dining.

This open space features several humming bird feeders that are always buzzing. Also a perfect spot for star gazing. The sound of the river gives the perfect ambiance for a good nights rest.

The area near by is great for sight seeing, hiking, fishing and all the activities that Cody has to offer. On the outskirts of Cody, the Humming Bird Retreat is a quiet get-a -way located approximately 15 miles out of town and one mile off of the main highway on a gravel road.

  • The drive from Cody to the HummingBird was scenic & enjoyable. Linda & the dogs met me as I drove up. The 'Porch' was just as cool & comfortable as described. I walked down to the river which provides background music 24/7. Linda let me keep Blue Ice in her freezer and my cold chicken in her fridge. WiFi & power was available on the Porch & I stayed up later to download & edit wildlife photos I took along the way. While downloading, 2 bucks in velvet appeared in the green between my outdoor bedroom & the river so I was able to photograph them. As expected, I woke early & refreshed. I was able to take photos of another nice buck deer in velvet on the way out. Linda suggested I take the Stagecoach Trail up over Sheep Mountain to connect to the main road to Wapiti & Yellowstone. Great advice as I photographed several nice buck antelope. I took photos of the Porch & Wildlife to immediately forward to my 7 grandsons down in Tampa. They texted back...'Amazing' :)

Thanks for input Mike, no Montana venison, but you can put in your order for Wyoming Elk steak ;) . We have been talking about the outdoor shower too! So we are making plans for this as well. Maybe even a shower house some day! Happy Trails - Linda

  • What drew me to sleeping on a porch in Wyoming were the wonderful reviews. I was a little skeptical as I am in my sixties and unaccustomed to camping or 'glamping". However there are enough bathrooms inside the house so no problem there. It had lightly drizzled that day and a beautiful rainbow spread across the sky. Like others I woke to a beautiful sunrise, hummingbirds at the feeders and two elk bucks stealthily eating the grass nearby. Linda is a wonderful host and I truly enjoyed meeting her and her family. Thank you, Linda, for a unique and magical experience.

  • I'd been driving from Gillette, WY, and I pretty much just needed a place to sleep on my way to Yellowstone. They were very welcoming and I felt right at home.
It's a very romantic place, I must admit that it was a bit sad to be there alone though.
Oh, and it was nice and clean! - so all in all a good experience, but next time I won't come there alone. ;)

  • My boyfriend and I are camping cross country and we absolutely LOVED staying here! After a few rough nights camping, the humming bird retreat was the perfect dose of luxury! Enough to heal our sore backs (with the extra comfy bed) while also enjoying the beautiful views of Wyoming. We could hear the river from our bed and Linda made sure we were nice and warm on the chilly June night. Linda and hubby gave us great traveling pointers and were absolutely great hosts. Would definitely recommend to any traveler wanting a new experience. Also, get ready to fall in love with the decorations, it's straight out of a magazine!

  • Lovely place, great scenery and very comfortable. Came in late, but Linda had everything prepared for us. When we met in the morning, she gave great advice and was very friendly. We hope to stay there again in the near future

  • Magical spot and such cozy "glamping" we were lucky for this opportunity. Linda is kind and helpful, we took her advice to detour to see Chief Joseph scenic hwy which was so worth it! We arrived @ 9:30 and I wish we'd had time to just sit and enjoy... Thanks, Linda!

  • Decided to stay a bit out of town in Cody, Mike and Linda's was the effect spot, on the South Fork route which I had been recommended to do and in a quiet setting with a ricer flowing nearby. The accommodation is on a cosy and homely terrace which has curtains at night, like an outdoor experience with the comforts of inside. There was also a nice seating area where I sat out and did some reading. A good location to get away from it all!

  • Perfect place to stay after a day in Yellowstone. It was a cool night, but the blankets were warm and the bed unbelievably comfortable. Waking up to a beautiful sunrise on the ranch was the perfect way to start the day.

We never got to meet Mike and Linda, but they had no problem with us coming in late.

    Highly recommended.

  • I loved staying on the porch of the Hummingbird retreat. Sleeping out with the stars and watching the sunrise and sunset was incredible- definitely a highlight of my trip and I wish I could have stayed for more nights. Linda and Mike are so friendly and welcoming. I would recommend this to all my friends and family who may go through the Cody/Yellowstone area. Thanks again! X

  • Mike & Linda's place is wonderful. Not very often can you lay in bed listening to the river, admiring the stars & moon. Then wake up to an amazing sunrise. If you're lucky, their adorable dogs will join you! Linda was very gracious and accommodating. I didn't arrive until 9pm and had everything waiting & the lights on. If your travels take you through Cody, this is the place to call home. Great communication & everything was as advertised. Thank you for a great outdoor retreat!
