This unique building was a small chicken barn many years ago where our lovely hens gave us countless dozens of incredible edible eggs for our large family. But those days are long gone, and we converted the space dramatically so that we could share the natural beauty of our farmland with city folks. The nesting boxes have been removed, the interior given a thorough cleaning, washing and sanitizing. We added a full bathroom, kitchenette, twin beds downstairs, a spiral staircase to the loft.

The space
Lovely old poultry barn with completely modern amenities & enough space so you won’t feel cooped up.
We want to make it clear to prospective guests that this is a rustic cabin. The space here is more like luxury camping; but instead of a campfire you have a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, fridge, double bowl sink. You won’t have to walk to an outhouse, because there is a full indoor bathroom with flush toilet, sink and shower stall.
And now a description of the incomparable surroundings of the Henhouse. It is located just a stone’s throw from beautiful Zimmerman Creek. The sound of flowing water can be heard from inside the building and is so soothing, that it will lull you to sleep at night.

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire space inside the Henhouse. They also have access to the exterior and the lawn, which extends to the creek bank, where the fire pit is located.

Other things to note
The space is not heated, temperatures during the Summer months but, particularly September and October can be quite chilly at night. While we provide blankets, guests should be prepared to bring extra blankets or sleeping bags if they feel they need them.

We have abundant wildlife on the farm such as white tailed deer, wild turkeys and red and grey squirrels. We also have domestic animals on pasture such as sheep and dairy cows. Occasionally, Black bears have been seen in the dense woodlands.

We do have snakes but no poisonous varieties. The ones we see are the common garter snake and milk snake, both of which are harmless. We also have friendly chipmunks which are seen frequently outside the henhouse.

The stream is a classified trout steam which also contains smaller fish such as perch and creek chubs. Along the creek muskrats can be found.
Any of our guests who love baseball will be happy to know that we are only 30 miles from Cooperstown, and the Baseball Hall of Fame.
For folks who are “rock hounds” we are only 3 miles from Crystal Grove Campground & Diamond Mine.
GETTING to ST. JOHNSVILLE
From the East: Take I-90 (Thruway) from Albany, and get off at Exit 28 Canajoharie. Then follow signs for Route 5 West to St. Johnsville (9 miles).

FROM the WEST: Take I-90 East from Buffalo. Then get off at Exit 29 Herkimer, and follow signs for Route 5 East ( 18 miles to St. J)
Or alternatively, you can get off Thruway at Exit 29A, Little Falls, and follow signs to Rte 5 East, to St. Johnsville.
