The space

Sick of big cities and stressful sightseeing? This places offers peace and tranquility and a taste of the untouched Italian countryside. This area is not touristy (even though close to Rome) so you will immerse in real Italian culture.
Italycountrystay or Via Piana is a cosy little guest house at the edge of Abruzzi National Park. The rooms of this old country house have been recently restored mixing authentic style and modern comforts. Our rooms are connected to a comunal area with kitchen for everybody. We offer free Wifi, parking space and also a large garden area. The price of 21 Euro per night per person applies to a double room with shared bathroom. For a single room with shared bathroom it is 31 Euro per night. As the airbnb system doesn't allow more complex price systems.
There are plenty of things to do in this area.We provide you with maps for hiking in the Abruzzi National Park, you can go to see the cheesemaking shepherd or go horseriding through the woods and a river.
From Rome it is easily reached with a two hour bus ride. When you arrive by bus in Sora our taxi service will take you to the guesthouse. The price of the fare is ten Euro.
If you come without a car there are some nice options of walks you can do in the area, but be aware that it is often steep here and you must enjoy walking to like your stay here without a car. You can reach the nearby town of Sora by foot within 60. If you come by car you can visit all the great spots in this area. You can also choose to use our private taxi service to visit the area.
During the summer we have lot's of festivals in this area. There is a lot of food, music and dancing.
We would be happy to share the beauty of this area with other people.

Guest access

We have plenty of nice communal spaces around the house. Inside we have a nice dining room with built-in wood burning oven. Then there is the communal kitchen. Outside we have many nice places to sit including two terraces with very scenic mountain view.

Interaction with guests

The communal spaces are shared also by the owner which gives a lot of occasion for encounters and interaction. I am happy to spend time with the guests and often we go for walks together or share meals.

Other things to note

At the guesthouse you are given the opportunity to book dinner. We prepare Italian dishes and try to use mainly local, fresh produce from neighbouring farms. We try to offer healthy, substantial meals.

Anna & Antonello's place is very beautiful. Anna transported to and from the train station, so that was very sweet. The town is pretty rural, so it would be best to have a car to make the most of what's around. There are many things to do, but a lot of them are quite far. On a side note, If you would like to go to Sora (4 km away), Anna offers rides as well as a connection for a great taxi service. There is a public bus, but I found it to be unreliable. Anna provides many possible routes to enjoy with nice descriptions of each. Overall I had a nice stay.

An amazing location. Stunning views from the guest rooms and beautiful walks or drives to neighbouring towns. Our dinner with Anna and Antonello was a real highlight. Highly recommend and bring your walking shoes.

I love getting out into the countryside and experiencing the life of local people. Italy Farm Stay gave me all of this in abundance. Giuseppe, Antonello's father, welcomed me as though I was part of the family. Such a hard working, generous and loving man who shared his world with me at every opportunity. His passion is organic agricultural self sufficiency from olive oil, fruit, vegetables, and meat, to the wine, his favourite tipple, and all is generously shared with you. Paco has been at the farm for a few years, what a character. I felt looked after, entertained, advised and befriended. Without his grasp of the English language I would have felt lost. He shared his love and passion for the country and its history. I would have gladly taken him with me on my trips. Antonella and Anna may not have been there but their communication, advice and directions were invaluable and they had laid on a book of driving trips which I dipped into throughout the week. I couldn't have managed without a satnav though. If you're looking for first class luxury and comfort in your surroundings this is not the place for you, particularly at the beginning of March. Nights are cold. This place clearly comes alive in the summer, but even a cold night wouldn't stop me coming again.

If you're after a true Italian country side feeling this is it!! It's so beautiful and peaceful there. Strolling the roads or dirt roads to see local farmers etc is just what the doctor ordered, literally. After a long, mostly frenetic trip through touristy cities this was the icing on the cake. Anna was sweet and amiable in every respect!

Sometimes, AirBnb delivers truly amazing experiences, where one feels less like a guest, more like family; staying with Anna & Antonello was exactly this. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like old friends, spending dinner in the big "Italian Farmstay" dining room, along with other guests and helpers, enjoying delicious homemade vegetarian dinner and lovely red wine. We actually had car troubles on our way to the property, with our poor Mini developing an exhaust issue; Anna and Giuseppe were incredibly helpful, doing everything they could to help us have the car fixed quickly – which it was! As for the room, we had a cosy ensuite double – the bathroom was clean and spacious, with a lovely shower and a properly comfortable bed (we slept so well). The surroundings are rural, rustic and peaceful – quintessential Italian countryside, with working farmland and quiet villages. It's a wonderful place to stroll and enjoy. I'd recommend staying here in a heartbeat. Our only regret? Not staying longer!

Everything about this place is fantastic: 1) Anna is a great host who is efficient, kind, communicative and offers many amazing activities (visit cheese maker, yoga, hikes, horseback riding, etc.) and she is a great cook 2) the location is super--overlooking a nice town, mountains with fresh air and peace and quiet, only 1.5 by bus from Rome 3) the adjacent Abruzzo National Park is stunning 4) the accommodations are very clean, updated and comfortable. We loved everything about this place and hope to return soon!

Anna & Antonello User ProfileAnna & Antonello is a superhost.

Many years ago I moved to this beautiful country and love it more every day I live here. I started a small project some years ago and opened a guesthouse with four rooms. I love my job as it gives me many different aspects to work on. Together with my landlord I am restoring this old house. It has been abandoned for about forty years so there is a lot of work to do. We really enjoy seeing the place change slowly into a beautiful welcoming house, we bring back life to it.What drives us the most is seeing how people come to stay with us and really love it.
The beauty of this project is meeting new people and connecting with them, sharing moments with them on their vacation.
