My comfortable bedroom offers an economical stay in a quiet DC neighborhood, just a 10-minute walk way from the metro. Reduce your carbon footprint by staying in a sustainable D.C. home. Solar Panels. Gardens. Composting and Recycling are encouraged. Sleep like never before on a Tuft & Needle mattress. Park your car for free and enjoy easy metro & bus access to Capitol Hill, the Mall, & the Smithsonian. Come visit the Nation's Capitol, do business, find housing, or just visit museums.

The space
The room can accommodate 1 or 2 people and is in a spacious green townhome. A shared bathroom is in the hall next to the bedroom. Note that other AirBnb guests stay in the home from time to time in another room. If you wish to travel with more people. You can book the other room.

Sustainable living as a practice is a big part of home. I compost and recycle. My home has rain barrels, vegetable and flower gardens, solar panels, and native trees.

Where you’ll be

Washington, District of Columbia, United States

I live in a new community development located in a gentrifying neighborhood East of the Anacostia river. My neighbors and I live in a close knit suburban community in Washington, D.C. We do not live in the middle of restaurants or bars. In fact, there are no restaurants in the immediate neighborhood.

Guests, however, can quickly access Capitol Hill, the Smithsonian, RFK, and FedEx Field via metro or car to satisfy dining or grocery needs. It takes 10 minutes to walk to the metro. At night, many guests prefer grabbing a Lyft back to the house and can save ride-sharing costs by grabbing a car in the Capitol Hill area when returning to my house. If you're looking to be within walking distance to a bar scene, a club, or a venue in Northwest D.C., then you would likely prefer booking elsewhere. But if you're looking to park you and your car at an affordable stay in a quiet D.C. neighborhood close to Capitol Hill via the metro, then my place is for for you.

I work as a manager and attorney for the U.S. government. My professional background is in FOIA, labor, immigration law, and civil rights. I'm a mom, an urban gardener, and a host. Outside of work, I enjoy biking, working out, and gardening. I also am big into sustainable living. My home has solar panels and rain barrels. I also compost and have a backyard garden from Spring to Fall. Many friends consider me a living pinterest board. I have a great home to offer. Additionally, I enjoy entertaining guests and sharing District Living with visitors. My mantra is from Arthur Ashe: Start where you are. Do what you can. Use what you have. I find that repeating that to yourself makes life manageable and happiness within most anyone's reach.

During your stay

I live in the house as well. If I am not available to meet you, I will leave the keys in a lockbox. I’m happy to interact with guests as little or as much as they want/need and to give recommendations for dining, sightseeing, shopping, etc. I also host other Airbnb guests in the other private bedroom. So the bathroom is shared with any guests who have booked.
