If you are in the Salt Lake Valley to experience the city or are planning to explore the outdoors Utah has to offer, we have a perfect hide out for you. Our house is on a quite and beautiful street located at a 10 min drive to the University, downtown and the Cottonwood Canyon hiking trails. We offer a private bedroom in a beautiful bungalow with a fireplace and an organic vegetable garden. The house has a 1920's charm to it with original woodwork and fixtures and has been decorated with traditional and contemporary artwork. It is in the hip and beautiful Harvard and Yale neighborhood and a short walk from the upbeat & quaint 9th and 9th market place. The room comes with a comfortable queen size bed, dresser and closet. We also have a little library and a backyard which you are welcome to access. Towels, linens, pillows will be provided. Make yourself at home and feel free to use our kitchen to cook some delicious meals from the garden.
There is a washer and dryer in the basement which comes in handy for longer stays. The house is very spacious and perfect for a single enthusiast or a couple. Internet, cable and free parking are included.
Bus stops for four convenient buses that ply around town are located at a 2-5 min walk from us. Also, Salt Lake has many commuter friendly bike paths around town, so ride your bike or feel free to borrow ours. Refer to the Guidebook for some of our favorite local restaurants, cafes and stores that are at a walkable distance. We love the neighborhood and would love to walk you through it on a nice evening.
Me and my husband(Anand) are academics and love research. But we do much more than just serious stuff. We are outdoor enthusiasts and love music and arts. We have two adorable and ubersocial cats, so be prepared for a lot of playful kitty time. However, feel free to close the door on them if you need some alone time. We love meeting people from around the world and will be very happy to meet you and share experiences over coffee or a beer.
See you soon,
Shaili and Anand

Anand and Shaili are a very nice couple. I stayed with them 3 nights but didn't get to interact with them much as I was visiting friends in the city. Shali was also very busy with her thesis and her family visit but Anand was more available for chatting and that was nice. the first evening we all ate dinner at the same time and it was great. they are both very smart people and they have a lovely home decorated beautifully. they also have some food they share with their guests and that was great to have. thank you.
I had a very comfortable stay with Shaili and Anand (and the cats!). They were very welcoming and helpful, which I especially appreciated since it was my first time in Salt Lake. I really felt like I was coming home each evening rather than going back to a strange place. I would definitely stay there again if I were going to be in Salt Lake.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Sugar house bungalow. Shaili and Anand are very nice people, they made me feel almost at home. It was my first time using airbnb and I was not disappointed at all! I would like to stay in touch with Shaili and Anand, and if there is a chance for me to go back to SLC, go back to their house.
I really enjoyed staying at Shaili and Anand's place in Salt Lake! They are everything you could want in a host: friendly, hospitable, and respectful. I was in town for a conference and Shaili made sure I knew how to find the bus to the conference center. They also gave me space to do my work but also made me feel very welcomed to sit and chat with them (which I did and immensely enjoyed).
I was pleased to find that the photos and description of the house were true to life. The room was very clean, cozy, and nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable. If I find myself in Salt Lake again, I would absolutely stay with Shaili and Anand! This is my first experience using Air B&B and they've definitely set the bar high!
Shaili and Anand are fantastic hosts! We felt like we were visiting friends! Their place is gorgeous, and the neighborhood is just wonderful! It's walking distance from the stores/restaurants at 9th and 9th as well as several bus lines. Parking was no problem and the place was centrally accessible from every place we needed to go. We absolutely loved our stay there!
The house is in a very nice & quiet neighborhood, 20 mins from airport and close to restaurants. We stayed there for 3 nights and Shaili was very accommodating when we knocked on her door at 1:30 because our flights got delayed.
It was a much better experience living with them rather than staying in hotel.
Unbelievable. They had a friend drive me from Park City to Salt Lake, let me arrive late, fed me in the morning, and drove me to bus stop. The next night Anand cooked dinner! Amazingly, I may like cats now.
Nice and intelligent people who really make you feel like you're a family friend and not a creep from the Internet.
I very much enjoyed my stay. My room was clean and warm, with a spacious desk (important because I was on a work trip). Shaili was very welcoming. We had great conversations, and she also very much respected my privacy. I kept quite different hours from my hosts (I went to bed early and got up and left the house early), but a heater/fan in my room created a background hum to block out sound from the rest of the house while I slept.
We had a lovely stay with Shaili and Anand! The room was very comfortable and very clean, with a private entrance. It has a nice desk, lots of light, and wifi access so it is a great place to study and work if needed. Our hosts were very gracious in providing coffee, tea, and breakfast foods if we wanted them, and also had a space in their refrigerator for us. Shaili and Anand also offered lots of great tips about the area when we asked, including some great restaurant recommendations. The cats are adorable and fun - very friendly if you like cats, but also easy to close out of the room if you don't.
If you need a comfortable place within walking distance of 9th & 9th, this is a great space with wonderful hosts. Thanks again, Shaili & Anand!
My stay was really, really great. They went out of their way to make things nice, for example, providing homemade ginger almond granola, giving me loads of restaurant suggestions (which all turned out to be fabulous), and allowing me to use their bike, but at the same time, it felt like coming home instead of to a hotel at the end of the day. The space was just how it was described. Easy to get around the city from the house. I would definitely recommend staying here!
