This vacation rental consists of a geodesic dome home, with over 1500 sq ft of bright, open living, situated on more than half an acre in a secluded and quiet location in West Sedona.

All with magnificent views of Cathedral Rock and Thunder Mountain!

FOR THOSE WHO FOLLOW THE ENERGY VORTEXES, the patio of this home is on a direct line between the vortexes at Cathedral Rock and Kachina Woman (Boynton Canyon). And, being a dome home, there is already a great sense of energy within and around the home. Add to that some beautiful large crystal showpieces, and you have an energetically-attuned home just waiting for your arrival! (and, the home is periodically cleansed to ensure only positive energy awaits...)

FOR THOSE WHO LOVE TO GET OUT HIKING, this home is only a hundred yards from the start of some magnificent hikes that take you around airport mesa, through Carroll Canyon, or directly down to Cathedral Rock and Buddha Beach. The trails offer unique views of the Sedona Big Four - Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, Castle Rock, and Courthouse Butte. A detailed trail guide and other local information is provided for your stay.

FOR THOSE WHO LOVE MOUNTAIN BIKING, this location offers superb access to some fantastic trails... some of the best mountain biking in the country!

NOTE - due to restrictions put in place by City of Sedona, a minimum rental agreement for 30 days must be in place... sorry! :-( Please contact us to discuss options. And, the home is in a residential neighborhood, so please be respectful - no loud parties or disturbances will be tolerated. No exceptions!

The Neighborhood

The home is in a quiet residential area - and with 2/3rds of an acre, lots of space between you and the neighbors! (However, that doesn't mean that loud parties or disturbances are welcome - they'll absolutely not be tolerated)

It's also a fabulous place to watch the sunset on Cathedral Rock - or the sunrise on Thunder Mountain, both visible from the patio.

Other Things to Note

Once a booking is confirmed, I send out a detailed list of my favorite restaurants and things to see and do in the area, including itinerary details for a day trip to the Grand Canyon, something for star-gazers and astronomers, and absolutely, some of the best maps and trail guides - whether you're a hiker or a biker, you couldn't pick a better place than Sedona!

  • My Sedona Place was everything we expected and more.
Chris was extremely helpful both through his e-mails and with the restaurant and sightseeing brochures he provides at the house.
Mornings on the terrace with our coffee, and evenings after the sun went down relaxing with a glass of wine were especially memorable. The house was clean and well-stocked with all the comforts of home, including lots of towels, plenty of hot water, and very comfortable beds.
We are not hikers, but, using the Sedona house as a base, we spent a very busy week exploring the region. Our trips included:
The dome car train from Williams to the Grand Canyon
    The Painted Desert
    The Petrified Forest
    Canyon De Chelly
    Meteor Crater
A picnic in the Apache National Forest
    Wine tasting in Cornville
    Montezuma Castle
    Montezuma Well
The Copper Mining town of Jerome
    The Copper Museum in Clarkdale
An over-night stay at Monument Valley including a 4-wheel 4-hour sunset drive tour with a great Navajo guide
And a very scary trek over the steep, mountainous, rocky, no-guard-rail, Schnebly Hill in our rented Jeep Cherokee
We encourage everyone to visit Sedona and take advantage of the hospitality of Chris and his Home Sweet Dome.

  • Great kitchen/BBQ outside to cook meals while in Sedona (we weren't particularly impressed by the food in the area). Beds were comfortable and house was clean. Please do follow up with the host prior to your arrival (probably a good rule of thumb in general) as Liz didn't have us in her books so we couldn't check in until 9pm. It was an honest mistake but we were exhausted from the flight and drive and this could have been avoided if I would have followed up. House is located on a nice and quiet street but there isn't much of a view from the home. Overall a great stay in a magical Sedona.

    Response from Chris:

Thanks for your review! And of course, apologies for the mistake and having you wait - Liz and I exchange emails regularly and your name has been on the list for a few times so not sure how it was missed, but we will definitely try harder! :) Guests are also provided with Liz's number and asked to contact her prior to arrival, so we'll be sure to include these instructions in future emails as well. Overall, glad you had a great stay!

  • We had a great stay at My Sedona Place; we stayed for over a week for a family wedding in Sedona. The location is close enough to route 89A for easy/convenient travel but yet secluded enough not to hear traffic. We had 2 infants traveling with us; the rooms were big enough to set-up 2 travel pack and play cribs. Chris was very helpful in our pre-travel planning and offered lots of assistance. Great hiking trails are a short distances away. We would recommend Chris' place for a group of 6.

  • My Sedona Place was a perfect oasis. The unique house and its energy was recharging, relaxing, and just what we needed. It was perfectly located close to everything and tucked away from the main street, so it was very quiet and a great place to watch the stars. There is a great collection of books and ample information on hikes, etc. I read the yellow vortex book during my stay, and really enjoyed it. Make sure to check out the vortex tours (earth wisdom jeeps) and Picasso's pizza! We wish we could have stayed longer :)

  • Awesome house....perfect for a long weekend, well stocked kitchen for home cooking when ya don't want to out, bright space, and acoustically great for playing some songs on my Martin guitar...

  • This was my first experience with airbnb and it couldn't have been better. Chris Vilcsak was a perfect host: immediate reactions to mail messages and absolutely complete information as to the house, how to handle all the little secrets any house has, how to get there, where to go, where to eat, you name it. It couldn't be faulted! The listing was exactly as expected, down to the very special architecture of the house. I loved it! And Sedona? Well it's still as wonderful as ever, but you have to share it with a lot more people than I was used to. But if you go where the cars can't go everything is perfect again!

    Response from Chris:

Paul and his group were wonderful guests - we'd be happy to have them stay again and would gladly and whole-heartedly recommend them!

  • Chris was very easy to communicate with and responded to my questions very quickly. The property manager Liz was easy to get in touch with as we were driving to Sedona and she stopped by during our stay to take the trash to the curb and we had a nice chat.

We had a wonderful time at My Sedona Place and didn't have any problems with the house whatsoever. The house is quite nice and gets a good amount of natural light. The tile floor is not as severe as it appears in the pictures.

There is a Safeway grocery store just down the street and easy access to downtown Sedona and Red Rock state park. The place comes with some passes for Red Rock, and some other passes. Be sure to look through those when you arrive.

The "pull out cot" is actually a pretty nice fold out bed. My sister joined us halfway through our visit and slept on the cot without any complaints.

The acoustics are a bit odd, owing to the unique shape of the interior. If someone were speaking from the mezzanine it was impossible to tell where they were; it sounded like they were everywhere.

If you want to play videos you'll want to bring something with an HDMI cable, or Blu Rays or DVDs. There is cable TV otherwise. The wireless internet worked great.

All in all, a great place to stay! Thanks Chris!

  • Getting to experience the dome home was a treat! The location was perfectly accessibly both to town and the outdoors with great walking trails right out the backdoor in a spacious neighborhood. The house was cozy, comfortable and a great setting for a team retreat where we enjoyed using the well stocked kitchen. Liz & Chris were kind & accommodating to several specific requests. We highly recommend this fun little corner of the world on the vortex!

  • We had a great stay at My Sedona house, we look forward to a return visit in the future.

  • I rented this place with a friend for a week of mountain biking, and we could not have enjoyed it more. It's comfortable, attractively furnished and clean, not to mention unusual. It's quiet at night, with a great view of starry skies, yet just a few minutes to town. And it's a great base from which to explore the trails of Sedona -- we did a few rides right from the house, and many more rides/hikes are a short drive away. Chris and Liz were helpful and very easy to work with. We'll be back!

Have you ever thought about where we come from - where the carbon and the other elements in our body come from? When you realize that they're the remnants of exploded stars from billions of years ago, and they will once again become part of something else in billions of years - well, it puts our existence here into perspective. Let's just say my components have traveled far further and have lives far longer than I myself will expect to... but, what a ride I'm giving them! Besides, who wants to leave this planet w/a body that still has the potential for miles and miles and years? Places I've loved include: * Edmonton (yes cold in the winter but the skies are clear and it's a dry cold, and the summers are so kick-ass we're still cooling down for months) - I mean, where else besides the Arctic do you get summer sun until 11 PM and an early morning sunrise at 5:30 that will blow your mind? * Nepal - Kathmandu has some of the worst air quality and yet some of the most incredible sites you'll ever see! Trekking in the Himalayas will always be a fabulous memory... * Peru - and of course, Cusco and experiencing live local music in a nightclub hidden off a back alley full of Cusquenos at 4 AM on Peruvian Independence Day, and being the only foreigner there, and then revisiting it with my sons a few years later... and then the mountains and Inca sites and Machu Picchu and and and... * Sedona, AZ - yes, as commercial as it can get in some areas, but also one of the most outstanding spiritual places on the planet, as long as you open yourself to the right energy... so enamored, in fact, that I bought a place there. * Bodhgaya, India, where Buddha was enlightened... meditating on the roof of the Tibetan monestery at 4 AM listening to the chanting from the temple and watching/listening to the egrets in a tree across the park, as the sun slowly illuminated the sky and the awareness of a new day filtered into the local consciousness... (a completely different 4 AM but 4 AM nonetheless...:-) Things I love include: * my kids - they are such a source of joy, and pride, and happiness, and lessons... :-) * hypnotherapy - I trained for and then started New Journeys Hypnotherapy, because I realized that it was exactly what I was meant to do... help others reach their full potential! * fresh zuchini and tomato, lightly stir-fried, and then let it sit w/grated cheese on the top... especially when it's fresh garden (or my own!) veg that I'm cooking! * mountain climbing - not that insane shit where you need to use ropes etc, but the style (scrambling/bouldering) where you use your feet, hands, and head, and still manage to stay (relatively) safe... perhaps it's why I love the mountains so much... * have 55,000+ followers on My Daily Step on(website hidden).. a project I truly enjoy...
