About this listing
This is a terrific base for visitors to Melbourne, especially those who are staying for an extended period. You can reach Melbourne's best attractions quickly, but also enjoy the quiet comforts of home. It's compact, and perfect for mature travelers.
The apartment is situated on a quiet street. It is one of 12 apartments in a quiet and friendly block. Please be mindful that noise carries easily in this neighbourhood, especially if the windows are open. It is essential that visitors respect the privacy of other tenants in the building.
The apartment is fully furnished, and will suit a single visitor, a couple, or even a small family. It is easy to maintain, well lit (thanks to large windows facing north, south and east), and commands a fantastic view east towards Mt Dandenong. We are located on the second floor, so there are some stairs to climb, and the building does not have an elevator.
Amenities include a dishwasher, washing machine, television, microwave oven, iron & ironing board, and a WiFi modem.
Interaction with guests
We live only a short distance away, and are happy to help with anything that can make your stay more comfortable. But we also like to ensure you have complete privacy during your stay, and we won't bother you unless absolutely necessary. You can call or email us if you have any questions about your stay in Richmond.

The apartment is only minutes from the Bridge Rd shopping and entertainment precinct. There you will find a great fish and chipper in Melbourne, the Fish Market (272 Bridge Rd).
For those who love Asian food, Victoria Street and its vibrant 'Little Vietnam' is only a brisk walk away. Our picks are Quan 88 (located at 88 Victoria St) and Pho Hung Vuong 2 (150 Victoria St). Both serve great Vietnamese food at affordable prices.
Sports-lovers are in for a treat too, with the Melbourne Cricket Ground (cricket, Australian Rules football, sports museum), AAMI Stadium (home to three football codes), Rod Laver Arena (tennis) and more located in the direction of the city.
Bridge Rd and Chapel St (South Yarra) are well-known fashion strips. Swan St is also teeming with places to shop and eat. We recommend Agapi (Greek food) and Richmond Oysters (superb!).
Public transport is fantastic in this neighbourhood; it is a part of Melbourne where you can comfortably live without a car. On Bridge Rd, trams 48 and 75 take you into the city in 15 minutes via the MCG, or out to Hawthorn, Camberwell and other eastern suburbs. The No. 70 takes you to the city, via Rod Laver Arena (home to the Australian Open every January). The 78/79 tram (on Church St) goes north to Victoria Street, and south to South Yarra. Richmond and East Richmond stations are only a 15 minute-walk away.
Other things to note
The kitchen is modern and well stocked with all essential items, but we do not have an oven. It is sufficient for most short-term visitors who wish to cook.
There is only one bed, so the apartment is generally suitable only for one or two guests.
We provide linen, towels, and other 'basic' amenities (cleaning products for floors, windows, kitchen, shower etc, detergent and laundry powder). If you are staying for only a short term, this should be sufficient for your needs. If you stay longer, you can easily buy more of these products at the Coles supermarket located only five minutes away (on Church St).
We do not have unlimited download capacity with the modem, but the amount available should be ample for most users. If you exceed the monthly limit, the speed of the modem will slow dramatically. So please try to limit your use to email and basic web searches. Streaming movies and TV programs will quickly use up the available capacity, so we suggest you avoid the modem for these purposes. If you expect to use the internet a lot during your visit, you may wish to purchase a separate pre-paid service.
I'm a lecturer in international relations; and have a serious case of travel bug; NYC is a favoured destination, and our next dream destination is the Middle East -- Turkey, Israel, Lebanon (anywhere with good food, basically).
