Monique was most welcoming. We arrived in the little village not long before sunset and she met us in the town square so she could tell us where to go. Than she gave us a tour of our new little charm filled home. Kindly she had stocked the ice box with enough wonderful food to keep us from starvation for a couple of days.
The balcony is picturesque. Wisteria, Jasmine and other flowering vines climb up the walls and border the roof line that overlook Monique's garden. Views surround of terracotta roofs and the church's steeple and bells. There is a big table where we ate all our meals on and enjoyed till late in the evening.
Monique and her husband Pierre are charming and were most helpful and kind. This location is wonderful as it is a bit off the beaten path but close enough to many other villages one wishes to see while there making for nice day trips.
A consideration for some: The toilet is on the main level and the bedroom is upstairs via an enclosed spiral staircase.
Overall it was wonderful! Thank you Monique!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Boulbon. Monique and Pierre were very warm and welcoming. She made sure we had some groceries as the market was closed the day we arrived. We loved the veranda which was very private and the garden was beautiful. Monique was available for questions and helpful with our plans. We had the pleasure of accompanying them to a local festival for the windmill, which was very fun. Boulbon is a very good central location for day trips in the west of Provence. It is an authentic and very friendly old, old village with a lively cafe, and a beautiful tree lined square. With a market, boulangerie, charcuterie and your own kitchen you can make your own meals. If you like quaint, historical and quiet accommodations, the apartment is wonderful as are Monique and Pierre.
A fantastic, special place. A perfect home base from which to explore Provence. Monique and her husband Pierre provided us with a unique, welcoming experience we will always remember.
The house is a comfortable, authentic Provencal home, nestled on a hill overlooked by an 11th-Century castle. It's even more beautiful than the pictures. An upper floor balcony provides a great place to enjoy a meal or appreciate the beauty of your surroundings.
As wonderful as the home was, the most special part of our stay in Boulbon was the time we shared with Monique and Pierre. They are extremely warm, and provided us with some great tips for exploring and appreciating Provence. We had no problems during our entire time, but I'm sure if we did they would have attended to them immediately.
If we ever have the chance to return to Provence (and after this trip, we certainly hope to), we'll definitely be returning to "la maison jaune!"
Monique's accommodation was just as described and suited us perfectly. She went to a lot of a trouble to make our stay very comfortable, providing many little extras such as fresh fruit, cooking ingredients, wine, butter and jam. Although there was no washing machine in the apartment, Monique kindly washed and dried our clothes for us. The village is very peaceful with access to a lovely, quiet bush walk in the hills. We loved staying here. Thank you Monique.
