Interaction with Guests
Guests enjoy total privacy although I am nearby should you need or want anything. Note that I do live in this apartment - it's not a "vacation property".
It's super safe, not deserted but not crowded. In nice weather you can walk anywhere - ten minutes to Chelsea, East Village, etc. Curry Hill is a block to the east, with great Indian food and groceries... Eataly is a block to the west, with everything under the sun... that plus a handful of great gourmet restaurants nearby, it's an especially great neighborhood for foodies! Madison Park, also a block away, always has interesting art and some nice peaceful green.
The 6 train and the N/R are right nearby, so you have the rare treat of being able to get to the west side pretty easily. Also, express buses run up and down Park and Madison Avenues.
House rules, neighborhood guides etc are all in the apartment. These include wireless access codes, appliance instructions, arrival/departure instructions etc.
Fantastic apartment in central Manhattan. Well presented and just like the photos. The piano is in tune too!
What an amazing experience! Rachel was a wonderful host and her apartment is absolutely to die for! Wonderfully appointed and very comfortable - the pictures do not lie! A great location in the city, it was convenient to everything we wanted to do and so close to so many great restaurants and shops. We had absolutely no hassles or surprises. There were no noisy neighbors - in fact we barely even saw anyone coming or going. We look forward to staying there again in the future!
Loved staying in this wonderfully located apartment. It has been upgraded with high end appliances including washer and dryer. The apartment is large and airy and very comfortable. The wasn't anything I felt was lacking. Rachel is a great hostess and was always available for any question. We are looking forward to staying there again. If you are a cat person, you'll love Gogo. He made us feel totally at home.
Amazing apartment in a building with a fascinating history! Rachel was an excellent host and great communicator. Her apartment was spotless, in an excellent location with easy access to public transport, and a welcome retreat at the end of long days out on the town. GoGo was extremely low maintenance - and made for such a lovely welcoming committee at the end of each day. As others have mentioned, it definitely can be noisy - that's part of being in a city - nothing that can't be managed by closing the window. There are earplugs provided for those who need them ... Overall a fabulous spot in a great part of town!
Exactly as described, we couldn't find fault with it. Rachel is kind and welcoming, you can tell she is a New York expert and she is willing to share her suggestions for your trip. Gogo the cat is lovely company and very low maintenance. The apartment is in a great location, you can reach many landmarks on foot and the subway is close by if needed. The Park Avenue traffic is fairly noisy but this is to be expected, it didn't disturb us but might be too much for lighter sleepers. I will definitely try to stay here again next time I visit New York.
Rachel's place is really amazing. Huge for NYC, and the bathroom is truly exceptional. As a musician, I loved the opportunity to open the window to Park Ave on a sunny late-afternoon and play a bit in the amazing space. She also has a wonderful wireless stereo to help set moods of all types. And Gogo is every bit as-advertised; a true sweetheart who loves people.
The place is loud (floors, building, and street below), so be prepared with your own earplugs (or the ones she's kind enough to provide). I also wish both bedroom windows had a blackout shade rather than just one, but for most people it should be fine. If light bothers you that badly, you'll probably bring your own sleep mask anyway. Other than the noise of Park Ave, the location is amazing. Tons to see and do within just a few blocks. This was a great value, Rachel is incredibly sweet and accommodating, don't hesitate to book.
