The Space

If you stay here, you can walk everywhere or ride a bike instead...

This vacation studio, in the garden behind our home, is part of a historic, quiet neighborhood, yet it's right in the middle of all the action! You will be within a few blocks of many of Austin's best restaurants, cafes, film, theatre, music venues, and the crown jewel parks of Austin: Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail, Zilker Park and Barton Springs Pool.
See our AirBNB Guidebook for details.

Perfectly located for both the ACL Music Festival and SXSW. The neighborhood is hip, funky, friendly, and classic Austin.

The 10' x 20' room has a queen size bed (sleeps 2) + a very large L-shaped couch, where another person or 2 kids can stay in a pinch. There is wireless internet, a small refrigerator, coffee and tea makers, microwave, and outdoor bbq.

You have your own patio and garden, for relaxing. There is also an outdoor ping-pong table, under a grove of pear trees.

We are a small family, living in the front house, and are great fans of vacationing in Austin! We can provide maps, excellent tips for music, feasting, biking, swimming, and generally enjoying Austin.

You can access Austin's public bus system, use a car2go, walk or rent bikes (our preference) ! Bike rental is a few blocks away.

Walking or biking, you will quickly get to all the best that central Austin has to offer.

We have a great blog for our guest studio, with more photos and descriptions of nearby attractions. We can share that website address with you AFTER you make a reservation thru Airbnb.

  • This Canadian loved the sounds of the birds in the morning. Stylish and funky neighbourhood close to everything. Super-friendly hosts were knowledgable and generous when needed, relaxed and laissez-faire otherwise. Highly recommended.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Margo and Gregory's studio. They gave us great guidance on where to eat and rent bikes, and Gregory made a point to come out and chat every morning and evening. They also let us borrow one of their bikes, so we only had to rent one with a bike trailer for our child. The place was small but very clean, and we much appreciated the tea and snacks. It's also in a perfect location.
We would love to come back here! Austin was a blast, and Margo and Gregory's hospitality made our stay that much better.

  • This is what I think of when I think of Austin: a place full of creative energy near Zilker Park, downtown, walking distance to restaurants, etc. This place is easy to get to/fro with parking on the street. The bed fits two adults comfortably; a separate area for bathroom; and there's even room for a couch; lots of windows for nature light and its situated in the back of the property so you get to enjoy the garden right outside the sliding doors for morning coffee or afternoon reading and the garden is shared with the main house where the hosts live. The hosts were friendly and easy to work with and they do not intrude on your privacy. If you want that Austin experience, this is it.

  • The perfect place for us to stay on our visit to Austin! Very comfortable space, great little neighborhood, and convenient location to downtown. We met Margo on our arrival and felt very welcome.

  • Margo and Gregory have a near perfect setup. The studio is detached with its own entrance, a very comfortable space for sleeping, relaxing with a book or just to escape the sun for a bit. Location is ideal! An easy walk to every neighborhood, with main road access points to cross the river. Zilker has many beautiful homes with creative architecture, so go explore. The kitchen is minimal with just the necessities, but you should be eating out at one of Austin's killer restaurants anyway! M&G are wonderful hosts, very friendly, communicative and helpful. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

  • This space was great - had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. Margo and Greg have a nice little library of books in the studio to flip through. Location is everything! Don't forget to walk to Juiceland for a refreshing drink.

  • Our stay at Margo and Gregory's was fantastic. We were out and about all day for SXSW and their place was the perfect haven to come back to when we needed a rest.
The place is an easy walk or quick bus ride from town.
Unfortunately we didn't meet Margo until the last day, however Gregory was great at providing us tips on how the get around the city and places nearby to check out for food and drinks.
We would definitely book with Margo and Gregory again if we are lucky enough to return to Austin in the future.

  • Margo and Gregory's studio was perhaps the highlight of my SXSW adventure in Austin. The studio was a welcome quiet sanctuary away from a hectic downtown. It's tucked away in their backyard on a suburban street, so it's easy to leave and enter without bothering anyone. And they've really designed and furnished the studio well to make it feel as comfortable as home. Despite the concrete floors, the warm rugs, library of books, thoughtful lighting, and quality bedding make the place a delightful getaway. The only thing better was how generous they were. Gregory lent me his bicycle the whole stay and even gave me a ride (and company for coffee) downtown on a bad weather day. They're welcoming, interesting people and I would definitely stay with them again.

  • This was my first airbnb experience and it was very positive. Great location, easy to find, colorful neighborhood that really captures Austin's quirkiness. For tourists it is centrally located near the park and lots of hot spots. comfortable space, i found the large bed very firm, so i preferred sleeping on the couch which i found very comfy. My host had left me snacks and tea/coffee fixings. I enjoyed the CD player. quiet, clean and very private. Would be happy to return.

  • This was our first time to Austin. And Margo's small cottage was the perfect space. Centrally located, quiet, private, clean, comfortable....we had a great visit.
