If words could be in the form of pictures....you would all understand the magnitude of how wonderful Ben and Laura are! My fiance and I have been there three times now- we have averaged every four months and we seriously plan on averaging every four months for as long as they do airbnb! We love it! This time we showed up to a GIANT painted "Congratulations Chloe and Tim" sign...we are recently engaged and were treated like family! We made pizzas on the wood oven outside and celebrated with our hosts and the other airbnb guests. I am not describing a crazy party, but rather the most ideal camp fire situation....we had all the necessities and comfort of home due to the amazing kitchen and bathroom facilities; however, we got to celebrate our engagement outdoors with the two sweetest strangers I have ever met! Every time we come to the ranchette, Ben has built something new and spectacular. You never know what new beautiful architecture you will find or what new loving pet might come hang out with you at the campfire :) We have never been treated with such hospitality, kindness and generosity....the ranchette is a must see, but more importantly- the hosts are a must know!
Laura and Ben have been sooooo nice with us! We had problems with our camping items, but they found a wonderful solution for us and they refused us to pay extra charges. Thank you again for everything, your place is perfect!
Nice property and Ben was a welcoming and kind host. We really enjoyed sitting next to the fire and meeting some of the other guests staying there. It was off the beaten path in a beautiful part of the county. Overall, a good trip.
The part of the property where the guests stay is pretty close to a roadway. That, combined with some roosters on the property, made for some moderate noise. They have some complimentary ear plugs in the wash room which was a nice touch.
Ben and Laura, were amazing hosts! My husband and I brought our own tent and camping equipment. The restroom and shower house were clean and well stocked with everything you might "forget" to pack, including earplugs! We loved sitting by the fire pit at night as Ben and Laura shared with their guests the rich history of the area as well as a little something about themselves!
We are telling our friends about this little oasis tucked away in Arroyo Grande, California! Thanks again, Ben and Laura for being such gracious hosts!
Wonderful hosts, really cool vibe on the farm, nice location - yeah, easy place to recommend. I put my tent up in the apple orchard and slept like a baby. The roosters do make some noise but I kinda liked it. There are ear plugs if you want. The fire ring is a nice touch and there's plenty of wood to burn in it. I sat around the fire with the other guests who were staying there and we had some wine and beer and swapped stories into the night.
We arrived at the property and easily found a lovely place in the small fruit tree orchard to pitch our tent. The next morning when we met Ben, he gave us an extensive tour of the land and all his and Laura's magical projects, places and animals. A great place to call home while you explore the area.
This property was perfect for my needs. I just needed a place to pitch my tent for the night and shower that was affordable. This went way beyond my expectations. They have a wonderful property that they have put so much love and work into. Laura and her husband were very welcoming on my arrival and more than happy to show me around. The indoor/outdoor shower house was perfect in the morning and there was tea, coffee, and a few snacks for me in the morning. I woke up to fog, but that soon broke and was welcomed with a sunny view of their wonderful yard, animals, fruit trees, and art adorning the property. This was a great experience and if I'm ever in the area again I would love to stay there again!
It's official- everyone reading this will have to fight my boyfriend and I to stay there- because we want to live at the Ranchette!! I wrote a detailed review on Page #2 of their reviews- so please refer back to that review as well; however, I can't help but write more after our second trip in only two months. That's right, my boyfriend and I missed the Ranchette, and namely the energy we got from Ben and Laura so much, we returned with friends. My boyfriend and I began to get nervous as the trip approached, as we had four dear friends joining us and all we had done was bragged for months about our last romantic getaway to the Ranchette. We couldn't stop raving about Laura and Ben- we started thinking maybe we were just weird and maybe we were exaggerating their marvelousness. We WERE NOT. All of my friends confirmed that we could not have overstated the beauty, uniqueness and tranquility of the hosts and their space. We spent two nights exploring the area, but mostly wanting to return to the property to enjoy the sunsets, fire pit, homemade tri-tip, all the farm animals, swing set and croquet, and mostly- Laura and Ben. We will return every year, as often as possible, as long as they are still hosting. None of my friends had used airbnb before and now they are hooked (but not sure they will ever find another spot quite like this). We could not recommend the beautiful ranchette and her perfect hosts more!
Wow! This is my first time using airbnb and I'd have to say its one of the best hospitality stays I've ever had. Ben and Laura are amazing people. They go out of their way to make sure you're taken care of. Their property is beautiful. I'll be sure to come back!
I camped in Laura'a garden with my girlfriend and it was brilliant.
If you're driving along the coast then its a great place to stop off between Big Sur and Santa Barbara. The garden is amazing and full of Laura's husband's hand made buildings, including the water tower, bathroom and his outdoor kitchen which includes his own wine cellar. The toilet and shower are really comfortable which makes the camping experience far better than your average campsite.
Laura was an excellent communicator via email and when we arrived her husband came out to greet us (despite it being 10 at night!)
If you visit be sure to go to the drive in cinema in San Luis Obispo. Its a great experience and only 20 mins away.
Thanks again Laura
