The space
Camellia Cottage is a registered historic home centrally located in the historic district of Fredericksburg, which has been named one of the best small towns in America. We agree: with historical attractions, proximity to DC, parks, outdoor adventures, and coffee shops and restaurants galore, what is not to like?? Located on a lot owned by Revolutionary War hero, General Hugh Mercer, she has been immaculately restored to feature modern amenities. She is decorated in a relaxing, contemporary style. The Cottage was featured on the Historic Fredericksburg Foundation’s 2015 and 2020 Candlelight tour of homes. The dinning space and living room are in one large room and feature numerous windows, and a gas fireplace. French doors beckon you to go outside to the courtyard, where you can enjoy an evening glass of wine or dinner, or soak in the hot tub. The kitchen features modern appliances and a sunny breakfast dining nook. A large room upstairs includes a sofa (turns into a comfy sleeper bed), smart TV, + a library and a sitting area to read and reflect. A small bedroom upstairs has a queen sized bed and is located in a quiet corner of the house. FIOS high speed, wireless internet is available throughout the property.

Where you’ll be

Fredericksburg, Virginia, United States

Fredericksburg’s identity and character are directly related to its rich history. Captain John Smith, while exploring the Chesapeake Bay region, reached this area in 1608. Across the Rappahannock River on Ferry Farm, a boy named George Washington grew to manhood. People describe Fredericksburg as an attractive place to live and do business, using phrases like quality of life, small-town atmosphere, and sense of place. Fredericksburg’s Historic District remains the community’s social, political, and cultural core and continues to define its identity. It is thriving with restaurants, gastropubs, small shops, art studios, and ongoing festivals. Please stop by the visitor center on 706 Caroline Street and watch the video on the history of the area, get a local and VA map, and brochures of various sites to visit in the area. They are also helpful in answering any questions you may have.
