Very near from Center of Sarlat, historic middel age town, with a lot of ancient houses and castles, you will be enjoyed to visit too some of prehistoric museums, and Lascaux.
The boats on Dordogne will offer a great visit .
We found Lea's place easily us in Google Maps walking from the city centre with our bikes. It is uphill all the way. Lea welcomed us warmly and the bed was comfortable. Lea does not provide breakfast but the kitchen is available to prepare by meals but there are lots of cafés in the town centre for breakfast. We enjoyed our stay.
We feel the need to be honest in our review so as to prepare future travelers for what to expect when staying here.
Lea was very friendly! She spoke very good English and was very welcoming towards us. She explained amenities we could use such as the kitchen. Unlike previous reviewers have said, clean towels were provided for bathing (we just had to ask for them). Our bedroom was very clean.
This place is run more or less like a hostel. When you get in, you get a print out with rules on it about quiet hours, using the bathroom at night, etc. There are 4-5 bedrooms upstairs that get rented out on Airbnb and probably other sites. There is one shower (upstairs) and one toilet (downstairs) shared between all of the guests.
When we were staying there, there were at least 2 other rooms on our floor that were occupied by other travelers. That meant there were about 5-6 people there sharing 1 toilet and 1 shower. The facilities were about as clean as you can expect a toilet to be being shared by this many people.
Based on previous reviews, my wife and I were not expecting this kind of environment. Other private room Airbnbs we've stayed in are usually somebody's home or apartment and you're staying as their only guest. That was the kind of experience we were expecting to have. We were surprised (and so seemed the other travelers) when we were sharing facilities with a bunch of people and tiptoeing around so as not to disturb the other guests.
I do not wish to leave an overly negative review. As I stated previously Lea was very very friendly and tried to make us feel at home. I just feel that if we knew when booking that this was the kind of environment to expect, we would have been better prepared for it. So just be aware of what to expect, and if it's not the kind of environment you want then you should probably stay elsewhere (as we would have).
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR DRIVERS: Do not follow your GPS if it tells you to take Rue du Tunnel. This route is NOT suitable for cars and you'll likely end up very scratched up. We continued south on the main road (Rue Gabriel Tarde) and took Rue du Breuil. It was a much safer more comfortable drive in our rental car.
Lea is so nice. Her house is just 10 mins walk from the magnificent city centre. And my room was so clean and tidy.
This adres was very basic and oldfashioned. There were other guests in the other two rooms. Everybody shared one simple bathroom. No towels available. The house was noisy. It was like sleeping with your grandma. Lea was very friendly.
Chambre très bien située, très calme, 5 min à pied du centre! Aucun problème pour garer la voiture dans la rue devant la Maison.
Hote tres discrète. Accès à la cuisine et au frigo possible.
