The Space

Located at the head of Otago Harbour, Dunedin is a beautiful historic city surrounded by rugged landscapes.

Our 1920's Californian style villa is a lovely family home, which has been modernised but kept in character. It is the perfect location for you to base yourself, while you explore Dunedin and its surrounding area.

Entrance to the home is via a large wrap around conservatory with two sets of French doors taking you inside to a large open plan, sunny living area incorporating slate tile flooring, polished flooring, and bay style window seating. The double glazed doors create good indoor/outdoor flow to the garden.

Double bi-fold doors take you from the conservatory, through to the spacious kitchen/dining area, featuring rimu kitchen joinery, dishwasher, water filter, upright stove, multifunction oven, ceramic top cooking, laminated benchtops, external ventilation, good cupboard/storage and vinyl/tile flooring.
Off the dining area is a restful living room featuring wood panelling, bay window and a pellet fire.

The hallway to the bedrooms features wood panelling and wooden archway.

The three double bedrooms are generous in size, two with built in wardrobes. The master bedroom features William Morris wallpaper and curtains, a beautiful original plaster ceiling, a fireplace with tiled hearth and electric fire, and windows on two sides.

The holiday themed family bathroom features tiled flooring, shower/bath, wall heater, heated towel rail, a rimu feature ceiling with extractor fan, rimu vanity and basin, with a mirror and demister. Locally crafted wall tiles and bright primary colours complete the sense of being present to a seaside scene.

All rooms offer private garden views. Two additional rooms can be used flexibly as single bedrooms/study areas.

Other features include plenty of good books to read, a collection of DVD's and Video tapes as well as some family games for rainy days.

A laundry room off the conservatory houses a tub, Bosch washer and separate dryer and an upright freezer.

The generous garden which will be maintained for longer term rentals, has two areas of established lawn, one with rotary clothes-line, terraced garden areas which include, fruit trees, natives, raised beds, rhododendrons, camellias and is entirely fenced other than the lower roadside area. At the front entrance is a garage.

If you are arriving by car, off street parking is also available. Wireless Internet is provided for your use. The local bus to town stops just metres from our gate!

Mike and I have enjoyed welcoming people to our home from all over the world as well as from New Zealand. The home is now offered in its entirety, for short term or longer rentals, as we move to another city.

The Neighborhood

Our home is at the beginning of the Otago Peninsula. We are close to the Edgar Sports Centre and about ten minutes drive from the cbd, the stadium and the University.

There is much to see and do in and around Dunedin. While you are here, you might like to visit Dunedin's museum which hosts a tropical rainforest, or take time to visit Toitu Early Settlers museum and the Art Gallery. If you are into surfing, the St Clair beach is for you. A nice outing, for rainy days with the family, is a visit to the Cadbury Factory in town. Otago Peninsula, with the only land based Royal Albatross colony is a wonderful experience whether by land or sea and is a fantastic place to see wildlife such as seals, penguins and sea lions and numerous coastal birds in a beautiful and wild landscape.

We are just half an hour from the Albatross Colony which is at the other end of the peninsula.
