Mike and I have enjoyed welcoming people to our home from all over the world as well as from New Zealand. The home is now offered in its entirety, for short term or longer rentals, as we move to another city.
Our home is at the beginning of the Otago Peninsula. We are close to the Edgar Sports Centre and about ten minutes drive from the cbd, the stadium and the University.
There is much to see and do in and around Dunedin. While you are here, you might like to visit Dunedin's museum which hosts a tropical rainforest, or take time to visit Toitu Early Settlers museum and the Art Gallery. If you are into surfing, the St Clair beach is for you. A nice outing, for rainy days with the family, is a visit to the Cadbury Factory in town. Otago Peninsula, with the only land based Royal Albatross colony is a wonderful experience whether by land or sea and is a fantastic place to see wildlife such as seals, penguins and sea lions and numerous coastal birds in a beautiful and wild landscape.
We are just half an hour from the Albatross Colony which is at the other end of the peninsula.

We had a little difficulty finding the house as Scott Street appears to be in different sections and even though we saw the sign the road was so narrow it looked like a driveway. We were met by Maria's niece Ruth, who made us welcome and showed us around Maria's beautiful home. We were very comfortable and because of the good weather, were able to take advantage of the conservatory. It was very well equipped apart from there being only three desert spoons! It was a lovely home to return to after our enjoyable excursions. We also enjoyed the windfall apples! Many thanks Maria for allowing us to stay.
Lovely well appointed home in a pretty suburb. Has everything you need and more! Easy to deal with from the off
Maria provided detailed info by email and phone and the house was even better than we expected. It proved an ideal base for my daughter's graduation ceremony and was less than ten minutes by car from the Octagon. The mix of old style villa and huge modern sunroom was fantastic, especially since the sun shone! A large garden and a trampoline were bonuses, and we were only a few minutes from the harbour by foot. Great value and we would certainly return. Peter M, Wellington
We loved everything about our stay at Maria and Mike's in Waverley. The communication pre-stay was great too which made it really simple to plan our visit as we were a family coming together from three different countries. Fully self contained, catering to a large group, warm and welcoming. Felt like walking into a family home and settling in. Summer would be awesome too, so we may have to visit again.
an amazing place. one of the most beautiful house we have seen. It is built with lots of love. Lots of detailing all over the place. Very nice yard in front and side for kids to play. Also decently close to the lake
Also very well stocked with all small necessities you need for daily purpose. Can sleep up to 7 people.
Only small catch is it has only one bathroom, though Maria mentioned they are thinking of building another one.
Unfortunaly we had problems when the key to enter the house was not at the place we were told it would be. We had to go to city centre to find a place with internet conexion to send a message or a phone booth to call the owner. It took us more that two hours to get the key and we incurred on unexpected expenses for the calls and wait at a hotel lobby for a reply. When we finally arrived notice that the home was exactly as described. Very big and comfy and with everything we need for our stay. We were in contact with the host via e-mail and she did a follow up for the bumpy start that we had.
