Apartment Pedestrian Zone-La Spezia

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Via Sapri, La Spezia, Liguria 19121, Italy

The Space

Flat situated in the historical zone in downtown La Spezia. The habour is 100mt. far from the house. The house is equipped with wi-fi access, tv, there's (email hidden). 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom a kitchen space where you'll be able to cook your own meals and the roof, where you'll find couple chairs and a beach umbrella!
The flat is right next to the owners house that are gonna be available whenever you want.

The neighbourhood is the only one in the city without cars access and is really easy to walk around and reach the harbour and the train station. There's also a bus stop 3 mins walking (where the closest street is) that takes you to Lerici or Portovenere for couple euros.
The train ride to the 5 terre is between 10-20 minutes.
All around the apartment there are plenty of pizza places , restaurants, bar.. without having to cross any street!

I suppose my apartment is unique for the chance to walk everywhere around (email hidden), and for having a pretty big chill spot as the roof, that is as big as the apartment, and is pretty much reached by the sun all day long.

  • The apartment was well located and a good base to explore La Spezia and surrounds. However, a few points to take note of:

The apartment is on the 4th level with only stair access. This was not mentioned in the description so caught us unexpectedly when we arrived at the end of the day tired and with heavy luggage.

The kitchen is somewhat limited for utensils which makes it difficult when cooking. There was no knife or cutting board to prepare meals with so food preparation was done using a dinner plate and table knife - quite frustrating when making meals. There were no glasses either so a bottle of wine had to be poured into either plastic cups or ceramic mugs.

When we arrived, we were provided password for wi fi access but as I found out 8 hours later, you actually ad to change DNS settings to get internet connection. It would have been nice to have had instructions left accordingly as I urgently needed internet access on my arrival.

There was also a smell coming from the bathroom which the owners claim are from the building or pipes. Again, advice of this in the advertisement would have been nice so an informed decision could have been made prior to booking.

Otherwise, the location of the apartment was good so we could enjoy the area and La Spezia as always is a great place to stay. I just hope the hosts can address the matters I have pointed out for the sake of future guests.

    Response from Leopoldo:

Unfortunately this time (around New years) no family member was able to welcome Matt and the cleaning lady had to.
I got a hold of him from out of the country as soon as I saw his mail and immediately fixed the wi-fi problem.
About the 4th floor without an elevator my bad for not writing it down, however it's written in lots of reviews and the elevator is not marked in the features.
Finally I'm gonna provide glasses and a cutting board for the near future, thanks for your help and for staying at my place.

  • We loved this little apartment and would definitely stay here again! It was clean and cosy and the heating was great. The kitchen has everything you need and even a few extras like salt and olive oil. Leopoldo’s parents were so lovely and spent ages trying to get the wifi working on our laptops when it wasn’t working. His Mum also recommended a fantastic restaurant (La Pia) and gelataria which was some of the nicest food we had in Italy. It is such a great base to do the Cinque Terra and much cheaper than staying in the little towns along the way. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • we were happy with the apartment's location, condition and amenities. the place is cosy but modern and clean with a big well appointed bathroom, a living room and a bedroom - a real apartment layout. a very vibrant part of town with shops and restaurants, on a pedestrian only street. top floor and a deck with the view. leopoldo was out of town, but his parents took excellent care of us, nice friendly folks. thank you for a good experience.

  • Leopoldo's apartment was comfortable and well equipped. His dad was always available and cheerful even when we arrived late at night. A small warning; the road leading up to the apartment is cobblestone hence rolling luggage may be a little noisy and bumpy. But the neighbourhood doesn't seem to mind us. But the apartment is on the 4th floor. That's carrying your bags up a lot of stairs. The water may smell a little in the toilet which i think is due to old pipes? I'm not sure but close the doors when you're done and it's fine. Water in the shower and sinks are ok. The apartment is near a club or a bar so it may get a little noisy at night but being on the top floor, the sound is not so bad. But if you're into the nightlife, you'll love the proximity. Maps and tourist information is well laid out by Leopoldo's dad. He even left us some simple breakfast buns and tea. My wife and I loved our stay here and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend. A good base to explore the Cinque Terre. And the town is just lovely. We felt so welcomed.

  • Overall our stay in La Spezia was enjoyable.

We never met Leopold but someone from his family met us. It is a solid walk up all the stairs with bags!

The apartment is alot smaller than in the pictures, and the fridge is tiny! The electric stoves were fine.

The wifi was really fast which was great.

The family is 'next door' is an understatement. They are in the other half of the apartment which is only separated by one door which you do not get the key to...

Slight lack of privacy but in a pretty good location.

Thanks very much for our stay

  • I really advise anyone wanting to visit La Spezia or Cinque Terre National Park to stay at Leopoldo's place. The apartment is very cosy (and with a nice terrace to enjoy during the summer time), the bed is comfortable, and the apartment is well located to explore La Spezia's center and harbour, and provides a perfect base to make a day-trip in Cinque Terre!

  • Leopoldo wasn't there, but his parents (who live at the house) were incredibly sweet and helpful. We felt very comfortable there and would certainly return!

  • Leopoldo's apartment is pretty conveniently located in La Spezia - it's a good ten minute walk from the station, but flat (though over cobblestones a lot of the way, which ca be a pain with pull suitcases). The apartment itself is quite large and comfortable, and has good cooking facilities if you need them. The bed was comfortable, there was some street noise but not after eleven or before six or so, and Leopoldo's parents (a locked door away in their own apartment) were helpful when I needed assistance. The apartment's in a pedestrianised area with a lot of restaurants and some bars, so there are plenty of food and drink choices. It was exactly what I wanted, and I'd happily stay there again.

  • Beautiful apartment, very clean. We were greeted by Leopoldo's father who lives in the adjacent apartment. He was so nice and very accommodating. There was so much information available to us regarding the public transportation schedules and maps of the city. The location was very safe. We were close to trains (walking distance) to Cinque Terre. There was no elevator so if you have heavy luggage it may be a problem for you.

  • The apartment is centrally located in the pedestrian zone of La Spezia. Our stay was wonderful, the apartment nice, clean and quiet. Also the walking distance to the train station is not too long - ideal if you want to explore the Cinque Terre. There are lots of good restaurants and bars around the building.

About
Hi, I'm an italian guy who love to see new places and discover the world. I've been in lots of places for my young age but I still haven't seen the far east and the Oceania continent, which is where I'll head soon. I enjoy traveling mostly during summer so I don't have to bring lots of stuff and I don't have to worry about the weather. Everytime I speak to somebody on my trips I try to speak the local language and I'm always keen to understand something new, a language too.
