Our neighborhood, the Hale Ohia Tract, is Volcano's residential historic district. This high elevation area, with a cool mountain climate, was historically a vacation retreat for the managers of the Sugar Plantations. Our house was the Hutchinson Sugar Mill retreat, and the Maid's Quarters was indeed where the servants stayed.
The Maid's Quarters is within walking distance of all village shops, restaurants and the post office. You can also walk from here into the National Park via the secret back entrance.
