We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Oma's place. It was easy to find using (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps and in a great location. Upon arriving Todd walked over to greet us and gave us several good recommendations on what to do in the area. The location can't be beat if you want to spend a couple days in Volcano National Park. Only 1 mile away from the entrance it took us 3 minutes to drive there. The cottage itself is cozy and well maintained. The kitchen is well stocked with anything you need to make basic meals. We were four adults and found it very comfortable and secluded. On our first full day we woke up early and went to the Sunday farmer's market, which Todd recommended. It's small but with a great selection of local tropical fruits and vegetables as well as some hot food. We loaded up on strawberry papayas, passion fruit, and rambutan. Then we headed into the park for some guided tours. At lunch time we just drove the 3 min back to the cottage, made lunch, took naps and then returned to the park at 2:30 for the Above and Below tour at Kiluea Iki lookout. All super convenient. After hiking the Kiluea Iki trail we returned to the cottage for showers and a change of clothes and walked to dinner at Ohelo Cafe, which was delicious. After dinner it was dark enough to return to the Jagger lookout point and watch a molten pool of lava bubble and burst on the horizon. And that was just our first day, no wonder we were exhausted. Jagger lookout is also one of the best places to watch the sunrise on the Big Island if you're jet lagged and waking up at 5 AM like I was.

We LOVED staying at Todd's place, it was the perfect location and such a lovely, peaceful home. We felt very welcome there immediately. The beds were so comfortable, and falling asleep to the sounds of nature was blissful. Todd is extremely nice and helpful, he gave us great suggestions of things to do, and was really friendly. We all wished we could have stayed forever! Also the decoration of the home is amazing, there are so many special touches. Beautiful place!!!

One Hawaii word to express my sentiment would be Mahalo ! Todd's place was a gem and we are glad we found it and he accepted us. It was a pure delight to be in a rainforest hideaway which was so isolated ,yet so close to the volcanoes national park and also to necessary amenities and the freeway . We had a feeling, we got closer to nature , living in this delightful place. Todd was very helpful ,when it came to finding the place and also very warm and friendly and helped us find several great locations around the volcanoes . His place had everything we needed and we are extremely thankful that our vacation got off to such an amazing start . Thank you again and if ever we come back, would love to come again to stay there. I highly recommend !!!

We loved this place! Couldn't be more convenient to Volcanoes National Park, also is walkable to a few local shops and restaurants. The house is very comfortable and nestled in the lush trees and vegetation - breezy, cool, and wonderful for sleeping after a long day of exploring the park or elsewhere. The house has lots of character and charm, including a chest full of toys and children's books which kept our 3-year-old daughter very busy! Also, secluded and safely off the main road so she was able to poke around outside without any worries. Todd was very helpful and stopped by shortly after we arrived to introduce himself, provide some local tips, and otherwise make us feel welcome. He lives a couple houses away and was easily available when I needed to run over to grab extra beach towels for a day in Puna.

This house is beautiful and secluded, offering up the simple joys of life on the Big Island! The fireplace comes in handy given the cool nights and mornings. Todd is very pleasant and will give you details about the area and thoughts on things to do around the island. If you're planning on spending some time at Volcano National Park, I would highly recommend a stay here. Be aware that travel times to most sites around the island will take you at least an hour, but that's pretty much the case from anywhere on the island, so don't let that deter you from staying at Todd's airbnb. The house was stocked with toys that our children enjoyed, along with the bunk beds. The kitchen had everything we needed to make our meals, but be prepared to hand wash dishes. Also, there's no clothes washer/dryer, so bring plenty of clothes. There is a clothes line outside to air out your beachwear. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay!

Todd was an excellent host. Check-in was a breeze. Everything as expected and in a great location for activity in and around VNP. He also introduced himself the morning after we checked in just to ensure everything was good with us. Very nice and we'd definitely consider coming back if we came to the Big Island to visit VNP again.
