The upstairs Studio Apartment is independent of the main house, with forest & garden views from the one bedroom. A comfy and warm feel is the atmosphere that will make you feel at home. The room has one full size bed and one single bed. A fridge, microwave, small toaster oven, coffee maker and all needed kitchen utensils. It has complete bath / shower with hot water.
The gardens are nice all over this area, including our home. Drive way entrance & private parking with a gate to the main road, the location is a plus, quite and peaceful, very easy to get to all the attractions in Monteverde, the town of Santa Elena is only 1 (one ) mile away, easy walk. On the road to The Biological Reserve of Santa Elena, very beautiful area.
Weekly & monthly rentals on various rental units.
Monteverdeis a magical place for Wildlife hiking in the cloud forest is unique. This area is home to three very important reserves in Costa Rica, the biological Reserve of Santa Elena, the reserve of Monteverde and the Eternal Children's Rain Forest, they all make up to over 30,000 hectares of protected primary forest in the Tilaran mountain range.

The apartment was huge! King sized bed with extra blankets, big fridge, multiple parking spaces in case other guests had cars as (website hidden) worked well even though it wasn't really needed. Had trouble with the hot water at first but Oscar remedied that quickly.
As wonderful as the apartment was, Oscar was the best part. He was extremely helpful and had great communication. He even called our excursions for us to ensure they had the right location and booked the appropriate tours. He took a lot of the stress and headaches out of it. Highly recommend!
Oscar and his lovely wife welcomed us warmly to their home.
It was a privilege to stay in the studio which was incredible - the pictures don't do it justice.
We didn't have a car and arrived by suttlebus. Our driver couldn't find the place despite Oscars excellent directions but Oscar was on hand via telephone to guide the driver to the house.
The house and studio are nestled into an amazing chunk of countryside just 15 minutes walk away from St Elena town and on the road to the adventure park.
When we arrived, oscar and his wife were there to greet us. When we asked for recommendations, Oscar not only have them to us but booked everything for us straight away and organised that we get picked up and dropped off as part of the deals.
We spend two nights in the studio and wished we could have stayed longer as we felt like part of the family.
A very happy couple living a very content 'Pura vida' life.
Highly highly recommended.
We really enjoyed the large studio and beautiful view. The place is located just outside the city center and is about 1/3rd of the way up to Santa Elena's Cloud Forest reserve (which is pretty close by car).
Oscar was a great host. His apartment (like most Costa Rican places) was initially difficult for us to locate but Oscar met us in the town center and after 2 minutes of driving quickly led us back to his place. Once we knew where it was we had a very easy time navigating through the area. He has also lived in the US and speaks English very well which makes communication very easy if you struggle with Spanish.
Oscar was a great host and even met us in town when we arrived. He also set up a great horse back riding experience. The land is beautiful and peaceful. Thanks Oscar!
Oscars studio was our so, so comfortable introduction to our Costa Rican adventures. The studio apartment is large and airy, with views of a lovely mountain paradise. Oscar and his family welcomed us upon our arrival, and were very friendly whenever we encountered them, but also gave us our privacy.
The property is located a short distance up the road from Santa Elena on the route to Selvatura Park (zip lines etc) and the Santa Elena cloud forest preserve, within a small bowl-shaped valley. Horses graze on the hill nearby, and we saw numerous birds including two resplendent quetzals within minutes of our arrival.
The drive to Santa Elena takes less than 10 minutes, so you can pop into town for groceries or for a restaurant meal. Proximity to Selvatura park and Santa Elena preserve make it easy to arrive before tourist buses arrive. The road is passable with 2WD in the dry season (probably also rainy season, but we did not experience that).
The studio is spacious and well equipped, with large fridge, microwave, and coffee maker (with complimentary coffee), two beds (king - just right, and single - harder), two easy chairs, a rocking chair, and large TV (we didn't use it). Wifi is reliable and fast.
Large windows on two sides let in plenty of light and fresh air. On one side, you look out onto green hillside pasture land, and on the other into forest treetops. If you are coming from the coast, you may encounter lower temperatures here (we had 37C highs at the coast in March, but only about 25C here, with cool breezy nights).
For most of the day and night the surrounding valley is very quiet, but at dawn and dusk during our 3-night stay there was a small flurry of motorbikes and other vehicles, perhaps to/from Selvatura and other parks up the road. The night will serenade you with the bird song and insect celebrations.
Oscar, thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us.
Oscar and Larry are great! Larry was very responsive over airbnb, providing information and answering questions. Oscar was a lovely host, booking activities for us and giving us advice while we were in beautiful Monteverde.
The studio apartment is quite spacious, with two beds (one huge and the other a single). The view of the hill from the front door was lovely to wake up to. The apartment was also very clean and easy-to-use. There is a small kitchenette near the bathroom.
It was a little tricky driving there after dark, so try to get a good map ((website hidden)maps is not super accurate with time estimates and the smaller roads) as well as detailed directions before your trip!
Well-located for going up to activities at Selvatura; better if you have a car/4x4 (we did) for going into Santa Elena, it would be quite a walk otherwise, and pretty steep! Would be good for a small family as it's very spacious indeed, with one very big bed and one single bed. Kitchenette area is adequate for basic self-catering (breakfast is not included, but there's a coffee maker with complementary coffee/filters/sugar etc) - there's a new big fridge/freezer that isn't pictured, but there isn't a cooker, only microwave. It gets unexpectedly cold and windy at night - there are extra blankets provided but make sure you have earplugs as the wind is very noisy (maybe less so in the ground floor unit?). Also a good idea to keep a torch or candles handy as power cuts seem pretty common, I think in the entire Santa Elena area.
The studio is a good option if you prefer not to be in Santa Elena itself, and especially I think if you have a child (not our case, but thinking of others!)

Retired in Monteverde. Our home in on site with 10 acres of farm land. It is so beautiful to live here and to enjoy the outdoors, we are very fortunate to have this opportunity in life and to also be able to share with others the beauty of Monteverde! For us it has always been so easy to help our friends that travel to Costa Rica to visit, we have helped on arranging travel in other areas of the country and to work out transportation or help in any way that we can with our local knowledge. We look forward to showing you our hospitality and share the wealth of this rich area in biodiversity.
