Very cool, eclectic and personal, lateral loft space taking up the first floor of an industrial turn of the 20th century workshop in Shoreditch / Hoxton, three minutes walk to Hoxton Square, five minutes walk to Old Street underground station (Northern Line) and twelve minutes to Liverpool Street main line and underground. There is a Barclays bike stand 50m from the building. Within three minutes walk are fantastic bars and restaurants.
The markets, bar and restaurants at Columbia Road, Brick Lane, Spitalfields and Broadway Market are all a short distance away. All of the Olympic sites and the West End / Oxford Street are accessible from the excellent local connections (20 minute bus journey / 15 in a cab to Oxford Street).
The flat is essentially one large room, with a three quarter height kitchen divider separating the living space from the bedroom, and from the bedroom, a door leading to a separate bathroom with bath and shower. The space has enormous windows on three sides – fitted with blackout roller blinds for when needed.
It is fully furnished with design originals including a super comfy sofa and a dining table that seats eight easily. The main space has freeview / DVD / blu-ray / full hifi and an HD projector which accepts inputs from most laptops and very fast wifi (50-70meg). The large loading doors at the end of the space can be opened to let the outside in. There is also an informal space on the New York style fire escape leading up to the entrance where one can take the sun and have a coffee on a nice day. Great mood lighting.
Kitchen equipped with a gas hob, an electric oven, a dishwasher and fully stocked with cooking utensils and crockery. Central heating keeps the space toasty in winter despite the large crittal windows.
There is a laundry area with a washer / dryer and an old fashioned clothes airer over the bath. The bathroom is functional and spotlessly clean.
Towels and bed linen all white and of the best quality (400 thread frette sheets) and the bed has a king size (150cm) tempur mattress.
At additional cost, I can arrange a sofa bed / double futon so the space can accommodate 3-4 people in total. Smokers may be accommodated, but please let me know in advance when you book if you will be smoking in the flat.
There is a fantastic coffee shop 15 metres away, perfect for breakfast and a late opening dry cleaners two shops down from that. The nearest pub is just at the back of the building (but we don’t hear the noise) and they serve excellent pizza until late. There is also a late opening Tesco mini supermarket at the other end of the road and an organic grocery four minutes walk in the other direction. I’ve lived in the area for fifteen years and happy to suggest bars, restaurants, art events, parties etc. depending on what you are looking for.
The space has neighbours above and below so loud music and parties after midnight are not welcome please and would need to be discussed before booking.
Interaction with Guests
I usually check in every guest myself and live in the block when I am in London
All welcome if respectful. No parties after midnight please without having been agreed prior to booking. No loud music after midnight please - the sound system rocks but only until midnight! Three locks to get in. One for the gate downstairs and then a mortice and a yale for the front door. When you go out you just close the front door and turn the mortice lock. Easy! There are three other floors in the building, very friendly neighbours. If you smoke, open the doors to air the room - it soon clears - that the beauty of wood floors and leather furniture - the smoke does not stay, which is good for non-smokers like me!
We had a wonderful time in London at rafa's flat. It was close to the subway and a nice walk (20/25 min) from all the touristy things we wanted to see. The bed was super comfy and everything about the apartment was cozy, eclectic and fun. Rafa was very helpful in giving us recommendations for what to do and where to eat. We would definitely stay here again :)
Rafas loft is a truely an amazing space. Very equipped and clean. We loved every second spent there. Possibly the most quirkiest and unique place I have ever stayed.
Unfortunately we didn't meet Rafa but he did provided us with all the relevant information that we needed for our stay. His communication was great.
I would absolutely recomend this loft and I'd love to stay there again. This loft is awesome.
I stayed in Rafa's incredible Shoreditch loft during a recent business trip to London and can't say enough about how great the experience was. The property is incredibly unique and Rafa is a superb host. He gave me personal recommendations of great restaurants nearby, provided a personal tour of the loft so I felt totally comfortable and even checked in via text during the week just to make sure we were having a nice stay. He was very responsive throughout and provided wonderful personal hospitality. The location is ideal and close to all the greatness of Shoreditch. I would stay with Rafa again and again and be very happy!
I've visited London six times now and Rafa's flat is easily the best place I've stayed on any of my trips. The apartment is both hip and relaxing -- it's exactly like it appears to be in the photos -- and the Hoxton neighborhood is a great home base for exploring London. You won't regret staying here.
Rafa is an amazing host, very informative and friendly. I stayed at this place for nearly a month, the loft is spacious and located in one of the most fun neighborhood. I'd definitely book again.
Another home-away-from-home in London. Why? Just a hop-skip from all that is worth tasting and exploring on Shoreditch Highstreet and Brick Lane and 2 min. from Old Street Station, this large, light-filled eclectic studio is filled with personal histories and all conveniences for a comfortable stay. Great wi-fi, an XXL projector screen for those rainy days, a wide variety of books to browse and a great mattress. Rafa is a timely, communicable and overall formidable host, looking after all the finer details. Will be back :)
