About this listing
A room in a Florentine family, in a little bed and breakfast (we have only three rooms), which is our home, and since 2005 also bed and breakfast. This "Green room" has a private bathroom; a rich breakfast, and all taxes, are included.
Bed and Breakfast "Leonardo da Vinci" is a receptive family accommodation in Florence, near to Accademia Museum and Piazza San Marco. Our neighborhood is around Piazza Savonarola, a nineteen - first twentieth century establishment; our building was built around 1880 and it has his ancient furniture. In our family we have always attached importance to the eating, and so with the room, you'll have a real rich breakfast, with coffee, milk, tea, orange squash, yoghurt, fresh fruits, jam, bread, brioches, eggs... On guest demand, we can also prepare a tuscan dinner, with recipes that are in the family tradition since ever, as our family cames from a village in Florence countryside (they were farmers); some dishes are bread soup (zuppa di pane), liver small crust (crostini di fegatini), Roast "dead" rabbit (coniglio arrosto morto), tomato soup (pappa al pomodoro). On request I can give some cooking lessons, with choice of the menu. If interested, here the prices: dinner euro 35 per person; dinner with cooking lesson euro 50 per person. Each lesson includes three recipes. During dinner, Tuscan wine is included. This double room "green bedroom" (camera verde), has a large bed and private bathroom, with towels, bathrobe, hair-dryer and toilet soap. Tv and free wifi are available. We can help you to book Uffizi and other museums, and also to suggest itineraries and things to do in Florence and surroundings.
Price includes all taxes, City of Florence tourism tax too.
Please notice that the room is a double room and it can accomodate only two persons; we can't accept extra people inside.
The breakfast room is at our guests disposal; we often prepare tea or coffee during the afternoon if asked from our guests, tea or coffee which we serve in the same breakfast room.
Interaction with Guests
As me Carla and my husband live inside the bed and breakfast, which is also our home, and my sons Elisabetta and Alberto are often here, we all like to speak with our guests, and this usually starts before the stay, from the email that we exchange! For us, it's important to have a contact with our guests, as they live for some days with us inside our home, exactly as we do, so for us it's important they feel themselves at ease as we are. In fact, we realised that often our guests, as well as a place to stay in Florence, they like to have a speak and to chat with us, which we like too as them, in short the atmosphere here is very different from that of a simple hotel.
We are placed just outside the "Boulevards" of Florence, which are called here the "Viali", this meaning just outside the historical centre of the city, said "Centro storico". It's an area built during the nineteenth century, and the style of buildings are the typical Florentine palaces of this century. In practice, the historical center and the monuments are very close, from here in ten minutes walking you arrive in Piazza San Marco and the Accademia Gallery; in the same time, the area where we live has a real neighborhood life (vita di quartiere), with small grocery stores, bakeries, renowned pastry shops, bars and cafes, pizzerias and restaurants frequented by the resident Florentine population, ours is not a neighborough that can be called "touristic", which is not, it's a residential area with its city life. So being so close to the center, without being part of it, it's considered a great quality of this area, at the same time, there are the amenities of an area well lived by the local population.
Our B and B has a bus stop at 250 ft, less than 100 meter far; at this stop, you can take bus n 11, 17 and 10 (which run frequently) to reach the city center, and Florence central train station, which is Firenze Santa Maria Novella; the same, if you arrive at Florence central train station, bus number 17, or 11, will bring you in 10 minutes to the near bus stop.
From Florence airport, there is a shuttle service that will bring you at Florence train station Santa Maria Novella (6 euro the one way ticket); but to reach Florence from the Florence airport, we suggest anyway a taxi, which has the "fixed rate" of 20 euro (night fare is 23 euro, holidays 22, and there is a supplement of 1 euro per each luggage), but, even with possible luggage supplement, it can be more confortable and you don't have to change in Florence train station.
We don't have a park for cars; but we have an agreement with a near (0.2 miles, 350 meters) garage, where, to park our guests' car, it will cost 15 euro for the 24 hours.
That said, many of our guests, when they are here, they prefer to reach the city center by foot, exactly as us, the Florentine people living in the neighborhood!
The room is a double room and it can accomodate only two persons; we can't accept extra people inside.
