A room in a Florentine family, in a little bed and breakfast (we have only three rooms), which is our home, and since 2005 also bed and breakfast. This "Green room" has a private bathroom; a rich breakfast, and all taxes, are included.

The Space

Bed and Breakfast "Leonardo da Vinci" is a receptive family accommodation in Florence, near to Accademia Museum and Piazza San Marco. Our neighborhood is around Piazza Savonarola, a nineteen - first twentieth century establishment; our building was built around 1880 and it has his ancient furniture. In our family we have always attached importance to the eating, and so with the room, you'll have a real rich breakfast, with coffee, milk, tea, orange squash, yoghurt, fresh fruits, jam, bread, brioches, eggs... On guest demand, we can also prepare a tuscan dinner, with recipes that are in the family tradition since ever, as our family cames from a village in Florence countryside (they were farmers); some dishes are bread soup (zuppa di pane), liver small crust (crostini di fegatini), Roast "dead" rabbit (coniglio arrosto morto), tomato soup (pappa al pomodoro). On request I can give some cooking lessons, with choice of the menu. If interested, here the prices: dinner euro 35 per person; dinner with cooking lesson euro 50 per person. Each lesson includes three recipes. During dinner, Tuscan wine is included. This double room "green bedroom" (camera verde), has a large bed and private bathroom, with towels, bathrobe, hair-dryer and toilet soap. Tv and free wifi are available. We can help you to book Uffizi and other museums, and also to suggest itineraries and things to do in Florence and surroundings.
Price includes all taxes, City of Florence tourism tax too.
Please notice that the room is a double room and it can accomodate only two persons; we can't accept extra people inside.

Guest Access

The breakfast room is at our guests disposal; we often prepare tea or coffee during the afternoon if asked from our guests, tea or coffee which we serve in the same breakfast room.

Interaction with Guests

As me Carla and my husband live inside the bed and breakfast, which is also our home, and my sons Elisabetta and Alberto are often here, we all like to speak with our guests, and this usually starts before the stay, from the email that we exchange! For us, it's important to have a contact with our guests, as they live for some days with us inside our home, exactly as we do, so for us it's important they feel themselves at ease as we are. In fact, we realised that often our guests, as well as a place to stay in Florence, they like to have a speak and to chat with us, which we like too as them, in short the atmosphere here is very different from that of a simple hotel.

The Neighborhood

We are placed just outside the "Boulevards" of Florence, which are called here the "Viali", this meaning just outside the historical centre of the city, said "Centro storico". It's an area built during the nineteenth century, and the style of buildings are the typical Florentine palaces of this century. In practice, the historical center and the monuments are very close, from here in ten minutes walking you arrive in Piazza San Marco and the Accademia Gallery; in the same time, the area where we live has a real neighborhood life (vita di quartiere), with small grocery stores, bakeries, renowned pastry shops, bars and cafes, pizzerias and restaurants frequented by the resident Florentine population, ours is not a neighborough that can be called "touristic", which is not, it's a residential area with its city life. So being so close to the center, without being part of it, it's considered a great quality of this area, at the same time, there are the amenities of an area well lived by the local population.

  • Carla was lovely and welcoming. Nice place only 15 minutes walk from the center of Florence. Breakfast was good. Would stay again.

  • Stayed with Carla for 3 nights late June 2014. The 200+ positive reviews online are more than fair and very accurate. Great location for the cities major sites, but it's Carla's personal touch that makes her BNB stand out. Would stay again.

  • My wife and I stayed at the Leonardo da Vinci B&B a couple of weeks ago. Carla and her family were very welcoming and helpful for our quick trip to Florence. Thank you so much Carla for making our time at the B&B so enjoyable.

  • We greatly enjoyed staying with Carla and her family and it was a shame we had to leave! The B&B is very well located in Florence and only a short walking distance to everything. The room was wonderfully appointed and very comfortable. Carla and her family were so welcoming and together we made/ate/drank dinner one night. This was truly a valuable experience and we highly recommend this option to everyone who loves real Italian cooking. Staying with Carla was one of the highlights of our 6 week Europe journey. Thank you Carla, we hope to return again in the near future!

  • I've enjoyed my 2nd stay at Carla's in 2 years. She and her adult children, Alberto & Elisabetta are INCREDIBLE hosts. You will feel like you've gained an Italian family, especially if you take advantage of their Tuscany dinner or cooking experience. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who wants to EXPERIENCE Tuscany, not just visit museums and leather shopping. You will learn dishes that you can bring home to share with your friends and family, enjoy their Italian stories about history and culture (non-Hollywood version), besides being stuffed! The included breakfast is an incredible spread. The room is clean and bed comfortable. Learn a few Italian words while you're there as they speak English well.

  • We had a fantastic stay at Carla's B&B in Florence! The room has all the facilities needed and is located near the city centre (10 min walk). We came by bike and could take our bikes safely in the room. We highly recommend taking the cooking course, Carla told us all about the secrets to cook a real family Tuscan dinner! And after that we had a great dinner with Carla and her son and daughter, Alberto and Elisabetta, this made us feel really welcome in Florence. This stay was a wonderfull experience of Italian hospitality!

  • Carla's B&B was one of the highlights of my trip to Italy. My girlfriend and I traveled for two weeks and the night we spent with Carla, her daughter and son was one of our favorite memories. We feel like I have an Italian family in Florence and would highly recommend her B&B.

The B&B is located an easy 10 minute walk from the center of Florence. It is in a safe and clean neighborhood and the rooms were beautifully decorated, clean and exactly pictured in the photos.

If you are looking to experience Italian cooking and taste at its best, I highly recommend having dinner with Carla and her family. Their generous spread, delicious wine and amazingly scrumptious food all added up to one of my favorite dinners in Italy. The company was good, conversation interesting and food to remember. If in doubt of what to order, try her guinea fowl slow cooked in spices and olives.

  • Carla and her family were a joy to stay with. Our room was quiet, clean and comfortable. The apartment is within walking distance of just about everywhere you'd want to go. The best experience overall was having a cooking lesson and dinner with Carla and her family. They shared family recipes, stories, and helpful tips on Italian culture and cuisine, but most of all they shared their love of family, hospitality and Italia. We look forward to staying with Carla and her family again very soon and recommend her B&B to anyone who wants a more authentic Firenze experience.
