Maxine is a very generous and helpful lady who gave us lots of information and suggestions about San Diego.
As we were walkers, the house is really close to most of the attractions, like littly Italy, uss midway , the pier to Coronado as well as the trolley station.
The restaurants in little Italy are perfect!!!!!!must try!!
The house is clean and tidy with comfortable bedroom and the bathroom is just adjacent to it.
Since it is close to the airport, the noice of aircrafts is inevitable.
But it definitely is a good place to stay as the area is safe and the homeless are harmless.
Loved staying here. It was close to everything. Loved walking to the local brewery! Maxine was wonderful and her home is welcoming and very comfy bed. Very quite neighborhood (except for airplanes!) Loved watching the planes land and watch the sunset on porch! Would love to stay again!
Maxine made us feel welcome in her home. However, the room description as a suite with a private entrance and bath is somewhat misleading. The private entrance is the back door of the home. You must walk through a small sitting area and the kitchen to reach your room. in addition, the bath was not in the room, but next to it, accessible to and in view of anyone who happens to be in that area of the house.
The home location was as described, in walking distance from many of the attractions of San Diego. The proximity to the airport was an issue since the house is on the flight path for landing aircraft. These aircraft passed directly overhead at a very low altitude.
The sitting area was nice with two chairs. However, the TV could only be viewed from the bed. There is plenty of drawer and closet space for clothes.
Again, Maxine made us feel welcome and made good suggestions to us in regards to places to go and things to see. the accommodations were not what we expected. We left one day early.
We have just returned from a wonderful winter vacation in San Diego---and Maxine and her top flight accommodations were certainly a big part of our enjoyment.
We are walkers, and the location was ideal walking to many of San Diego's historical areas. When we needed the trolley or the Coaster train that was also in walking distance.
As I had read before booking, Maxine is a veritable San Diego history book---every morning over many cups of her delicious coffee we learned more about San Diego, restoration of the early SD homes and what's in future planning.
Our bedroom/sitting room was comfortable, very clean and had lovely antique pieces. The large, private bath was adjacent to our room.
We intend to return to 2169 Brant St next winter!! Jane and Tom Connors, Milwaukee, WI
About the Host, Maxine
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and have lived in San Diego since the late eighties. I am retired from the Real Estate industry and know this city very well. I am an urbanite so I enjoy city travel very much, including visiting museums, theaters, city parks, dining, and spas. I look forward to sharing my favorite local spots in America's Finest City with you. I have always enjoyed hosting travellers from all parts of the world for short or long term rentals. Staying at a bed & breakfast is my favorite type of accomodation. As your host, I will provide "old San Diego stories" for your entertainment during High Tea, if you wish!
High Tea is served daily from 5:30pm-7:00pm during your stay.
