  • Maxine was really helpful and accommodating not to mention absolutely lovely!
She picked us up from the train station and gave us a small tour around San Diego city upon arrival. She was very knowledgeable of the area and it's history and up to date with current things to see and do. Her house was beautiful and the room neat, clean and well appointed. All the amenities that are necessary were there and more.
We would definitely stay with Maxine again and can highly recommend staying here if you visit San Diego. Thanks Maxine!

  • We loved our stay at Maxine's beautiful home in San Diego. Maxine was a wonderful host who goes above and beyond for her guests. We really appreciated her tips and suggestions for things to see and do in San Diego and we loved waking up to fresh coffee and treats every morning! Maxine was also kind enough to take us to the airport on our final morning.

  • Maxine was a wonderful host, always helpful in her advice for visiting, eating etc in San Diego.
She has been very kind with us and answered our doubts, helped us to solve problems, and were present to pick us at the shuttle when we arrived and left.
Her house is a one-century old house, located just 5 minutes walking from Litlle Italy y 10 min walking from Balboa Park: it is a DREAM!
The decoration is great, comfortable, the porch is very nice and the kitchen is great as well. As the other guests, we enjoyed the big and comfortable private bathroom next to our bedroom.
The bedroom is spacy, with a lot of furniture if you wish to use it. Coffee & tea are delicious!

I was a little preocupied as for the localization next to the airport, but in the night there is nearly no air traffic. It is very surprising the first time you hear a plane above you, but you get used to it, and most of the day we are outside in San Diego, so it is not a big deal.

Maxine is a great person to know in San Diego, She has an amazing presence, knows the city for a lot of time, and really made a difference in our trip. Thank you for your hospitality! I wish I ll come back and go to her place again.

  • Maxine is such a nice host. She picked me up at the Airport and gave me very good Information about San Diego and possibilities to go for dinner. The house is nice and the best bed I ever slept in. Unfortunately I got headache in her house and the noise of the planes flying in to San Diego were not good for my headache too, so I moved to another place. Anyway, we stayed in contact and had dinner twice during my stay and I feel like having a new friend in my life.

  • This is a fabulous place to stay – very easy to walk to Little Italy and a just a bit further to Gaslamp Quarter. Maxine was a wonderful host who picked me up from the airport and gave me a very interesting and informative tour of San Diego. It is clear that she is passionate about her city and wants to share this passion and knowledge with her guests as much as possible. The planes flying overhead on their landing path was fascinating to me as I love watching planes up close. The aircraft noise inside the house was minimal. The room, bathroom and kitchen amenities were all first class.

I cannot speak highly enough of Maxine going well beyond what I would have expected in this my first ever experience booking with Airbnb, and arriving there after 10 nights in hotels in 2 other US cities. I arrived quite ill with ‘flu and was in urgent need of a doctor for antibiotics. After dropping my bag at her house Maxine drove me straight to a medical centre she knew and waited patiently as I received treatment. She subsequently drove me to a drugstore for my prescription. I was so grateful to her and thankful that I was not in a hotel having to struggle to find a doctor.

The morning I left Maxine drove me to the Amtrak station for which I was most grateful.

I would thoroughly recommend Maxine’s house to anyone looking for the right place in San Diego and should I ever return to San Diego I would not hesitate to stay here again.

About
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and have lived in San Diego since the late eighties. I am retired from the Real Estate industry and know this city very well. I am an urbanite so I enjoy city travel very much, including visiting museums, theaters, city parks, dining, and spas. I look forward to sharing my favorite local spots in America's Finest City with you. I have always enjoyed hosting travellers from all parts of the world for short or long term rentals. Staying at a bed & breakfast is my favorite type of accomodation. As your host, I will provide "old San Diego stories" for your entertainment during High Tea, if you wish! High Tea is served daily from 5:30pm-7:00pm during your stay.
