We have just returned from a wonderful winter vacation in San Diego---and Maxine and her top flight accommodations were certainly a big part of our enjoyment.
We are walkers, and the location was ideal walking to many of San Diego's historical areas. When we needed the trolley or the Coaster train that was also in walking distance.
As I had read before booking, Maxine is a veritable San Diego history book---every morning over many cups of her delicious coffee we learned more about San Diego, restoration of the early SD homes and what's in future planning.
Our bedroom/sitting room was comfortable, very clean and had lovely antique pieces. The large, private bath was adjacent to our room.
We intend to return to 2169 Brant St next winter!! Jane and Tom Connors, Milwaukee, WI
Maxine was a very thoughtful and generous host. The rooms were clean and very comfortable and we felt at home right away. Everything we needed was provided and Maxine was very attentive to our needs.
Maxine is the perfect host, a warm welcome,
a warm say goodbye. The environment: first class. Neighbourhood very pleasant. The atmosphere is uncomplicated, clear, and with style. I just can say 'what a Lady'!
Maxine is a lovely lady and her home was warm and comfortable. Maxine gave us the low-down on the local eateries in Little Italy and answered all our questions on local attractions. Her home is perfectly located to easily access downtown, Balboa Park, the Midway and other attractions along the water front. A short drive allowed us to access Point Loma, the beach, and family in north county. I highly recommend Maxine's home for your next visit to San Diego.
Maxine was very welcoming and oriented us to the house and it's amenities. Although we did not use the kitchen, Maxine made coffee for us each morning. We appreciated all her information about her neighborhood, in which the house is in walking distance of Ballast Point, a great craft brewery as well as a wonderful place for breakfast, Nob Hob Hill. little Italy is very nearby with lots of great Italian food! The only drawback is the noise of the airport, but there is the advantage of being nearby if you are flying in or out of San Diego. Be careful how you turn your car wheels when you park, as we got a big parking ticket! The room we stayed in was spacious and the bed comfortable. We would recommend this place to others.
Maxine instantly makes you feel at home; she is helpful, warm, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, upbeat. Her home oozes charm with its antiques. The bedroom and bathroom were a very nice size and very clean, and the bathroom was stocked with everything you could possibly need. She has some fascinating historical stories about the neighboring houses.
Little Italy was 5 blocks away with a host of restaurants and cafes. And despite the noise of the airplanes, you have an incredible view of the runway with planes landing and taking off. (Earplugs may come in handy for runway-viewing. We had our car and parking was not a problem.
I was especially appreciative of Maxine letting me bring my little dog. (I do not allow my dog on furniture, nor did I leave the dog alone at the house.)
Maxine was an excellent host. She even picked us up at the airport---it didn't feel like a host, it felt like family! What a great way to start your trip to an unfamiliar city and place. We enjoyed our space, the location was great---very accessible by foot and we got to see so much while there. Maxine is very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and have lived in San Diego since the late eighties. I am retired from the Real Estate industry and know this city very well. I am an urbanite so I enjoy city travel very much, including visiting museums, theaters, city parks, dining, and spas. I look forward to sharing my favorite local spots in America's Finest City with you. I have always enjoyed hosting travellers from all parts of the world for short or long term rentals. Staying at a bed & breakfast is my favorite type of accomodation. As your host, I will provide "old San Diego stories" for your entertainment during High Tea, if you wish!
High Tea is served daily from 5:30pm-7:00pm during your stay.
