Maxine is a fantastic Host. She had wonderful recommendations and knows her city well. Centrally located to EVERYTHING and the bed is super comfy too! Thanks Maxine.
Maxine was very accommodating, personable, and welcoming. She is quite the historian and that was appreciated. Staying in her home made for a very memorable trip. The bedroom was ample and the bed very comfortable. No complaints whatsoever. We hope to return later this year!!
Highly recommend this "gem" in San Diego!
It was by far the best place I have stayed using Airbnb.
-Great home: loved the location (easy walk to Little Italy, Downtown Seattle, Balboa Park, public transportation), we walked everywhere during our trip and had no problems making it to all the hot spots
Warm and cozy house, with private entrance, loved the size of the bedroom and bathroom was amazing!
-Great host: can't say enough about Maxine. She is kind and thoughtful, was willing to transport us to and from the airport, even left delicious chocolate covered strawberries in our room for Valentines Day! She was always willing to give us advice on hot spots around the area, had warm coffee and a smile waiting for us each morning.
The noise of the planes wasn't bad at all, it was actually really interesting to be so close to the airport and watch the planes fly by the house. Loved the location, loved the home, loved the host!
If we head to San Diego again, this will be the place that we stay!
Maxine's home is wonderful and so is she! The location is the best, very easy to get anywhere in San Diego. Maxine is very helpful in making suggestions of what to see and do and where you may want to eat. The room is very comfortable, with a back entrance if you choose to go in that way or you may enter through the kitchen. The bathroom is in the hallway right outside the room, use is just for you. It is very nice, and it has a nice shower. We took our !4 year old 60 pound dog with us and Maxine was very gracious and let her stay in the room all day while we were at a conference for 3 days! She checked in on her at least 4 times a day for us which meant the world to us. There is a secured backyard access from the room for the dog to be out in. The airplanes noise did not bother us at all, even though they fly directly over the house seemingly low enough to almost reach out and touch. We walked to Little Italy and to Balboa Park from Maxine's easily. We are so grateful to have stayed with Maxine as this made our trip to San Diego for 4 nights the best ever!!
Maxine was a really sweet host and made me feel very welcome. I appreciate that a lot :) I love the coffee she made in the morning and also the smell of the house. It made me relaxed and felt like a spa! I was comfortable staying there. The bed was cozy and big and the bathroom was as good as a high class hotel room. It's all clean. I slept so well every night when I stayed there. This place was totally worth the price. If I get to have a chance to go to San Diego again, Maxine's place would definitely be my first choice!! Thank you so much Maxine :)
We had a great experience staying at Maxine's place! I went for the weekend to San Diego with my gf and we both had a pleasant stay at Maxine's. Maxine's home is located in a great area of town that is very close to the waterfront and to the Gaslamp district (15 minute walk to both). We rented a car, but its really not needed if you stay here. Maxine was super friendly! She recommended some excellent restaurants, gave me some tips on things to do, and made us coffee in the morning. The room we stayed in is very spacious and you have your own private bathroom. There is a television, wifi and large closet space. The place is super close to the San Diego airport. We made it to the airport in the morning in about 15 minutes. It was also very cool that you get to see the planes go by Maxine's house and land at the airport. Initially I thought that the planes going over the home every few minutes would be annoying at night, but honestly they didn't bother us at all (plane traffic is much lighter after 10pm). I highly recommend staying here!
Great stay with Maxine and her beautiful house. The room had everything we needed and Maxine was around to chat and provide suggestions for your visit to SD if you want it.
Maxine was a great host! My labmate and I went to San Diego for a conference. Our flight delayed 30 minutes on the first day and it took us 1 hour to get a cab. She had to wait for us till 12:30am! On the last day, she gave us a ride to the airport! That was so sweet! :)
Love Maxine's house, it's a beautiful and lovely house, very comfortable and clean, pretty good view both night and day. Close to airport, transportation is convenient, walking distance to Trolley, Maritime Museum, Little Italy, Balboa Park, etc., Maxine is a very nice and thoughtful host, our flight from Hawaii to San Diego was delayed, and landed at San Diego at around 12:30am in the morning, and she stayed awake waiting to receiving us, she also gave me a ride to the airport when I left San Diego, much appreciated. Would definitely love to stay at Maxine's house again if getting the chance to visit San Diego in the future.
I loved my stay with Maxine!
