Let me begin by saying that Tom and his parents are very lovely people. I had just gotten off of a 9 hour flight with screaming babies. I was exhausted and spent. They gave me space, turned up the heat when I asked and gave me an extra blanket. Great hospitality and customer serv…

I had no cell service while in Canada and was struggling to remember the key code for the lockbox. I called Tom, he immediately answered, and gave me the help I needed.

Clean, free parking, the location is next to a huge supermarket (2 min walk distance), own private washroom right next to the bedroom (although the bathroom is upstairs)

This was by far the most enjoyable and rewarding AirBnb experience for me. The family were very outgoing and went over and beyond to provide an enjoyable home stay experience. They were always available to talk to and help. I will truly recommend this place to someone either look…

It is not a “private bath” as written in the description. It is just a toilet (which is sometimes used by house owners as well). For taking a shower, the Airbnb guest should use the shared one upstairs. Access to the shared spaces/utilities (living room/Cable TV/kitchen) is limi…

Response from Tom:
Hello Ibrahim: Apologies for your experience, and thank you for your valuable feedback. We'll be cognizant about the voice level going forward, and we'll actively make our effort so that our future guests are made to feel more welcome to share the living accommodation, and communicate more clearly about the expectation of the using the living room space and bathroom. For the record all guests are welcome to use the living room area. If your expectation is to be able to have that area all to yourself, please point me to the listing details where that's posted, and I'll amend that right away. For the record my parents spoke very favorably of you, in fact my mom really liked having you around. They are not native English speakers so when they speak to each other they do speak Chinese. Switching languages is part of being bilingual and that is not an implication that they are speaking poorly of you. I'll also speak with my parents on being more considerate when talking about politics or religion, it is not their intention to get into touchy subjects, but that's on us nevertheless. In terms of going into your room, I was not aware of that and I'll make sure to talk to them as well. My mom sometimes just likes tidying up rooms, however it's still inexcusable since your privacy is important and that should not be violated, and your permission should have been obtained before entering your room for cleaning. When my mom asks how your day is she is not really checking up on you, but she's just trying start a conversation, as she's a naturally gregarious person. I'm not sure how that's trying to keep a schedule on you however I can see it being interpreted the wrong way. We did not restrict your usage of the stove. We spoke to you about you unintentionally leaving the stove on. That is not a concern with the equipment, it's more a concern with the general safety of the building. The stove left on is a huge fire hazard, which puts the safety at risk for the not only the lives of the occupants, but the lives in the entire building as well. In terms of price to value, we really are just going by the market. Toronto has a pretty high rental price in general, and the value alignment is something you'd find on par with what you can find in the general vicinity. All in all, we'll reflect on your feedback into making our future guests' stay more enjoyable. I wish you the best in your endeavor in the city.
