About this listing
This beautiful and convenient studio is the perfect place to unwind after a day in Central Park or at the American Museum of Natural History. In the heart of the Upper West Side you will get to experience an authentic Manhattan vacation.
The apartment is spacious and clean, and ideal for a couple. However, it can accommodate up to four people using the sleeper sofa in the living room space. Enjoy distinct sleeping and living quarters, a fully functional kitchen, and a clean, and newly renovated bathroom. Plus there is lots of space to hang your clothes while you are in town. Please note that I have purchased a new, larger couch since these photos were taken. It is equally as comfy and has more space as well as a sleeper bed!
Relax on the comfy couch or bed and catch a flick using Netflix or the DVD player on my 42'' TV.

This apartment was a great home base for us during our most recent visit back to NYC. It's in a great location, and Jillian was amazing from start to finish. She was great at communicating with us, and had breakfast waiting for us when we arrived. The apartment was cozy and clean. We'll be back!
I used to live in NYC and came back for a few days with my wife and baby. Jillian's place offered a good value in the neighborhood we wanted to be in, so we booked it up.
There are many positives to this listing - nice location, good coffee places around, easy access to the subway, only one floor to walk up, good bathroom.
But there are a few issues too. Specifically, lack of cleanliness, mediocre accuracy of pictures, and quite a bit of clutter.
More than one reviewer has written about the lack of cleanliness. If it's just one person noting this, you can chalk that up to an isolated poor cleaning job. But I think the reality is the place just wasn't cleaned before our arrival (at least not professionally) and perhaps isn't cleaned regularly in preparation for Airbnb stays. I mopped with a wet swiffer I found in the closet twice and the floor was still dirty after this. There was also quite a bit of dust throughout the unit. Finally, the toilet was not as clean as I would expect because the parts that attach the toilet seat to the toilet bowl are broken and thus difficult to maintain.
The pictures depict a somewhat roomy studio, but the apartment is in reality small. I'd estimate it to be 18X15 in the main room, 8X4 kitchen, 6X4 bathroom. These dimension would probably be fine, but there is a good deal of clutter that doesn't show in the pictures. Specifically, a large table at the foot of bed and dog cage underneath it. Also, the closets are packed full. There are a few hangers and a little hanging space for you in the closet, but really nowhere for you to put your suitcases or stuff beyond that.
We did appreciate Jillian's communicativeness and thoughtfulness. She left some fruit, coffee and croissants for us, which was very nice.
All in all, I think Jillian is a promising host. We enjoyed our stay, and with a few improvements this would be a great option for a one or two people looking for a great location on the UWS.
Thank you Adam for your thoughtful feedback. In terms of the dog cage, changes in my apartment since the original photos were taken (changed piece of furniture), these have all already been indicated in the description. I ask that all potential guests please read the description in full, as I have clearly indicated that all guests should expect these in my apartment. Please note, that the apartment, as is always the case, was cleaned very thoroughly before arrival, and was scrubbed down and dusted repeatedly. With this being a very old building (built during the civil war), there is some appearance of dirt (including the toilet) that is actually not there, but is remnant of past leasers and paint jobs that have been done before proper cleaning. Additionally, with lots of smog in the city, it usually happens that the floors get a bit dirty within hours, as was likely the case here. The floors were thoroughly swept and mopped multiple times before arrival, and they always are. Of course, guests are always welcome to do exactly as Adam chose to do. Thank you again for your feedback.
We didn't had the chance to meet Jillian in person but all the communication with her went very smoothly. We were welcomed by a friend of Jillian, and she explained us everything perfectly! The big plus about Jillian the apartment is the location. The view from the window is fantastic. Furthermore Jillian left us great information about restaurants in the neighborhood. The apartment could have been more cleaner and looks not quite the same as showed on the website but we had a perfect stay. And Jillian is a very reliable host.
Jillian was a great host. Very helpful, welcoming, and friendly. Her apartment is cozy and, for us, had the perfect location. We love the Upper West Side, and her place is smack dab in the middle of it.
To be clear, her studio isn't large by any standard, but hey, this is New York! Get out of the apartment and into the city.
Highly recommended, and would stay there again.
The apartment is in a great area, lots to do and see close by. We were very comfortable and felt good about the building security. Jillian is very responsive and accomodating, we would definately stay here again next time we come to NYC. Fun surprise flea market at the school next door on Sunday! :)
Jillian's studio was exactly as advertised. It was very clean and comfortable and perfectly located for a NYC vacation. I came the week of Thanksgiving and was delighted to watch the inflation of the giant balloons for the Macy's parade from the windows of the studio.
Jillian was responsive and attentive to details. She left baked goods and fruit for breakfast as well as coffee and tea. Her kitchen is small but very functional for light meals. The bed was very comfortable and despite some street noise, I had no trouble falling asleep.
I recommend Jillian and her studio to anyone wanting a nice place to stay in a wonderful area.
A great place!
We spent 4 wonderful days. Very close to the central park. The house is quiet and safe. The apartment is clean and comfortable. I recommend to all! Thank you Jillian and Kelcey!
About the Host, Jillian
Hey everyone! Welcome to my home in NYC!
I'm a twenty-something non-profit fundraising professional who is living my childhood dream in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I moved here a few years ago after college, and after holding leases in several different neighborhoods, I discovered that the Upper West Side is my absolute favorite place to live, so I moved to what I think is the best corner in Manhattan.
I love to read, travel (Airbnb makes that easier!), eat great food, cook, see fabulous theatre and dance, and lose myself on streets of NY. My favorite thing about living in NY is being in the heart of everything. It's great to have a lovely and comfortable apartment to come home to, but the city is my home just as much as my apartment is because there's always something new and exciting to discover.
If you want to experience NY the way I do, get on the subway and hop off when you feel the urge, and then let your feet guide you on your journey. You really never know what you'll run into. That is what I love about this city--there are always new treasures to find.
NYC is the love of my life, and I want to share that with you.
