John was there to welcome us when we arrived. The barn was spacious and was perfect for our family gathering. The extensive first floor space was ideal for meals, games and chatting. The views of the lake are beautiful. We were fortunate to be there when the acres of daffodils were in bloom. The kitchen was well-equipped and the bedrooms were comfortable.
We had a great weekend at the barn. John met us at the house for a quick tour of the property. We were very impressed by the view and the amount of space, both indoors and out. The house was accurately depicted in the photographs. We loved using the big stove for cooking and had plenty of room to serve big meals. The yard was huge and great for some pick-up sports games. We will definitely be looking to stay here again in the future.
We had such a wonderful time at the barn!!! The space is HUGE and beautiful - the perfect place for a big gathering of family or friends. There are so many cool spaces to hang out. John was always very quick to reply to any questions, and very helpful - we didn't need help with the house but we knew he was right there if he did. The town is lovely too - it's hard to decide whether to spend time in the cute town, the beautiful yard or the great house! It is a bit rustic - the yard can get muddy, and we saw some ladybugs in the house. If you're looking for something standard and hotel-ish, this isn't it. But it is very clean and sunny and nice. If you're looking for somewhere to go with a big group, this is the place!
What a cool place. The barn is incredible and had so much space for 10 of us. Jim was very attentive to our needs from making sure we had enough firewood to making sure the driveway was plowed after a snowfall.
Great location, clean, and really, how many times do you get to stay in a converted barn that used to house transcendental meditation? We'd definitely stay again!
The barn was exactly what the group was looking for. Kitchen was complete with most the necessary tools to whip up delicious meals for the two nights. The farm was located near a beautiful lake which the group walked around. The house was comfortable and John was helpful and quick to respond. The only negative was that it took awhile for hot water when showering. Thank you john.
John was very welcoming. He met us upon arrival and oriented us to the place that became our "2014 Christmas Barn." Having 6 bedrooms plus the massive living space on the main floor of the barn made it possible for the family and guests to be together, and to spread out and have some space when needed. With the fireplace, our decorated Christmas tree in the corner, and flexibility of space and furniture, it worked beautifully for us. The facility itself could use some updating - which is why I rated it at "great." Our experience there, however, was "fantastic."
John and family were wonderful hosts. The property can't be beat, especially for New Yorkers with kids who don't have a lot of space. There are endless things to do, both inside and outside. The kids never got bored- there's a nice fireplace, a piano and a huge common room "dance floor." And outside there are endless possibilities for fun. The hikes to the lake were beautiful and doable, even for 3-year-olds; the trip with "Farmer John" to feed his cows was a HUGE hit. We'd definitely go back.

About the Host, John
I grew up on this farm, spent 30 years on Wall Street, and moved back here full time in 2006. In addition to managing this property (and 7 other longer term rentals), I'm a full time farmer with 160 grass fed cows, some pigs, and some chickens on the farm.
