The Space

Situated in a quiet pocket minutes from the bustle and buzz of Byres Road, your new home in Glasgow is an absolute delight. Furnished to a high standard, yet comfy and warm, I've made this top floor flat into a most welcoming home.

Glasgow's Botanic Gardens are so close that I think of them as the front yard. The flat's back yard is a wonderful tree-lined oasis of quiet and guests are free to use this space to relax in whenever they want.

Glasgow University is close-by and can be seen from the South facing side of the apartment.

A self-service continental breakfast is included, and Vegetarian and Vegan options are available. Porridge is available on request and is made the secret 'Highland' way Granny taught me as a boy!

The immediate neighbourhood is quiet, though some fine cafés are located literally a hop, skip and jump away on Queen Margaret Drive.

Byres Road, and all it's wonderful attractions, is a 5 minute dander from the flat. This area offers some of the best restaurants, cafés, pubs and shops that Glasgow offers, with Ashton Lane especially proving perennially popular.

Public transport links are fantastic with both Hillhead and Kelvinbridge underground stations, and a wealth of bus connections, only a matter of minutes away. For Drivers, Great Western Road is seconds from the door and it offers quick access to the main motorways and roads in and out of the city.

  • David greeted us with a friendly smile and was always willing to share his extensive knowledge of his home town. He has created a very peaceful oasis, maintaining historical integrity with all the modern amenities, awesome bathroom!
The location is in a very quiet neighborhood, but also central to the wonderful West End, and an added bonus for me being practically next door to the Botanical Garden!

  • David is a great host. We have stayed in his tastefully furnished, beautiful flat for 1 week. From the first minute we felt very welcome in his flat. The place is well connected to public transportation so we would definitely recommend it to anyone who would like to stay in a quiet area but also be in the city centre quickly. David gave us very good recommendations for stunning sights, good restaurants and cultural experiences in the area. We can recommend to stay there without any hesitations.

  • It may sound like I’m just repeating what previous guests at David’s have already said, but it is true: David’s apartment is beautiful (just look at the pictures!), the West End (email hidden)ly, green area and, of course, David is a wonderful host who will give you as many great tips on Glasgow (and on where to go for a fantastic day trip) as you like. I arrived a bit earlier than expected (sorry about that!) and he’d just come back from an overseas trip himself, but he was still very welcoming and made me feel right at home. I couldn’t do & try everything he recommended so I’m going to “have to” return to Scotland some day – and I am looking forward to it. So thank you, David, and I hope little Adam & Martha are hale and hearty!

  • Davids apartment was the perfect base for us during our short stay in the city. His lovely home in the leafy west-end gives visitors a flavor of Glasgow's unique character. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly with interesting chat to be had with David and the other guests. The flat is well kept with nicely furnished bedrooms and a comfy bed. Highly recommended, thank you for having us David!

  • I had a great time at David's apartment for the four days that I spent in Glasgow. It's a clean, spacious, and beautiful space that has everything you need. It's also in a great location and close to a lot of great restaurants, cafes, and sights. It was also close enough to a lot of great things to see that I walked everywhere while I was there (city centre, Kelvingrove, Necropolis, U of Edinburgh, etc).

David is a a great host and is very friendly and easy to get along with.

Highly recommend this place and David as your next AirBnB host!

  • This was our first time with airbnb and our decision to stay with David could not have been better. He was an absolute delight to be around and we felt welcomed in his incredibly lovely apartment from the very moment we arrived - we almost didn't want to leave! As this was our first time in Glasgow, he gave us some useful initial information about where we should go.

Should we ever come back to Glasgow, David will be the first person we will contact!

    Thank you for everything!

  • David was the best!! From the first moment I arrived at his lovely flat, I felt completely at home! He was so friendly & welcoming! I really enjoyed just sitting and chatting with him over tea. He lives in a great part of the city, too! Really lovely area to walk around. I would definitely recommend staying with him if you are ever in Glasgow-- I am sure I will again :) Thank you, thank you!!

  • Outside of my decision to come to Glasgow, choosing to stay with David was the best decision I have made this entire trip. Such a fantastic introduction to Glasgow!

David is warm, friendly and generous, and his home is too - comfortable and very close to transport, shops and great dining spots, the Botanic Gardens and one of my now favourite spots in Glasgow, Byres Road. David is always up for a chat and is incredibly helpful.

    Highly recommended!

I have travelled extensively in Scotland and overseas, and still travel frequently for work and pleasure. I spent a few years living and working in Canada and Australia, and so these two countries will always have a special place in my heart. Some of my other most memorable trips include - Iceland, Mauritius, Borneo, Jordan and India. Currently the wonderfully vibrant city of Istanbul comes at the top of my favourite cities list, with New York, Helsinki, Lisbon and Budapest currently fighting it out for second place! I love nothing more than meeting new people, from whichever country they may hail. and look forward to making some new friends and acquaintances through Airbnb. Hailing from the Highlands, I'm bilingual, and a very proud 'Gael' or Scottish Gaelic speaker. I am also a native English speaker. I'm passionate about my country and am lucky to know her very well - having lived and worked in the North, South, East and West. I'm always happy to share my knowledge of Scotland with my guests. I am in love with music, especially new stuff that I haven't heard - any suggestions? Long term firm favourites of mine are Led Zeppelin, Prince and Pink Floyd, but right now I'm very much enjoying Mercan Dede's modern twist on traditional Turkish music and a taxi driver's Bedouin CD I copied hurriedly in the back of his taxi in Agadir.
