About this listing
Santa Mandala Artist Homestay is an architectural masterpiece hidden in jungles where you can spend unforgettable moments. Every room of our eight villas is designed uniquely pleasing eyes with many mystical decor!
Santa Mandala hangs on a cliff offering a mind-blowing view at jungles and full-bodied river far down below.
The setting has many terraces for yoga practices, rooms and caves for meditation, as well as a specially created acoustically outstanding cave for sound meditation or singing.
For your convenience we can organise private yoga sessions.
There is an open plan shared kitchen, with complimentary tea and coffee, where you can cook yummy foods. Sure the views can boost your creativity, just let it happen!
We can organise food delivery from local restaurants as well.
Get fit with our 30 metre stairs - the entry to the homestay lies through the jungle. If you have heavy bags, please go down and feel free to ask for some assistance.
We are located in 5mins north of Ubud and its shops and eateries.
We will be happy to assist in organising a scooter or car rental, as well as a taxi hire.
For a small fee we can make an airport transfer (please enquire via email) or make a meal.
Our cute pets - little kitten, pup and a monkey will surely keep you entertained.
Welcome to our world of eclectic beauty - the merging point of human and nature creativity!
Ubud tourism focuses on culture, yoga and nature. In contrast to the main tourist area in southern Bali, the Ubud area has forests, rivers, cooler temperatures and less congestion although traffic has increased dramatically in the 21st century. A number of smaller "boutique"-style hotels are located in and around Ubud, which commonly offer spa treatments or treks up Ubud's mountains.
I'm sorry to say but staying at Mandala Villas was a bit of disappointment. We didn't really feel that welcome and it was as if we'd gatecrashed someone's party.
We stayed three nights and endured a movie night and two late night jam sessions throughout our stay. Our last night was someone's birthday where music was played ALL night until about 6am! We even had someone try to get in our room at one point.
The party goers were mostly friends of the villa who were staying elsewhere and no courtesy was given to us, the actual paying guests. As the shared kitchen was always full of visitors on a night, we didn't really feel comfortable making our own food as it felt like we were intruding.
Our room was located below the kitchen so we could hear the clatter of every cup and plate, the loud chatter of party goers and any furniture being moved across the floor.
That said, it is a nice, unique, spacious room but we only managed one hot shower before the boiler broke (there is another shower on site). Also, our window would not close so we were left with a gaping hole big enough for Andre The Giant to climb through. There are large openings above the windows anyway so be sure to bring mosquito repellent as we were eaten alive!
Location-wise, it's an hours walk or a 10 minute drive to Ubud. There are a couple of warungs and some villa hotels to eat at within 10 minutes walk of Santa Mandala should you want to eat out. It's also worth mentioning the stairs down to the villas can be quite gruelling if you have heavy luggage.
Santa Mandala isn't for everyone (us included) but if you want somewhere to practice poi, paint and jam all night then I'm sure you'll love it.
It's a shame as the villa's setting and views are beautiful and very peaceful...until someone starts jamming that is.
We are sorry to hear about Your experience, that You faced on "Santa Mandala". But not to have experiences like this, we would ask You to tell about everything that bothers You, so we can provide best service for you to have enjoyable and pleasant staying on villa. Yes, there are stairs, leading to "Santa Mandala", that prevents heart problems of out villa's guests Смайлик «smile» It's true, that it was Birthday of our manager and it was music jam, this is not an usual event, it was extraordinary and we're sorry that you haven't enjoyed it - out other guests joined it and got a lot of positive feelings.
Seguro volveremos!! ;)
Do not expect hotel facilities from this place - because it is a private villa in the forest. So you may have insects in your room and water outage. It's located quite away from Ubud: walking distance is 1 hour, but you always can order a trasport. Hotel staff (Pavel) is too relaxed guy, seemed to me not very friendly. However he always assist us with our questions. But, finally, it's a magic villa in beautiful forest and I enjoyed my stay.
Необыкновенно красивое и сказочное место! Я счастлива что побывала там, хоть и всего на пару ночей... Надеюсь, что у меня будет возможность ещё раз туда приехать!
We had a booking in this place for a 3-day stay in Ubud. As we changed our itinerary i decided to give a call and ask to shift our dates. There was no problem with this.
We arrived a day later and found this villa to be one of the most outstanding we've even been to. This Gaudish style mansion built on the cliff with spectacular views will definitely impress you.
The location is quite a way from the central area but perfect for us since we had a bike.
This villa is managed by 2 russian guys we found quite hospitable and friendly. They sorted everything for us including bike rental, transfer, sights information and all the other small requests.
We got more than we expected.
