Home 4 a Day was much more than we even imagined. The room was beautifully decorated and felt like an oasis! Freda and Lou were so sweet, and informative - not only about the room, but the area, plus dining recommendations. Freda kept in touch up to the time of our vacation making sure we had no questions and gave us great information! The home-baked food was delicious - we couldn't wait to see what was waiting for us when returned from a long day at the beach. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to be close enough to the beach, but far enough away for some quiet time near the marina.
great place - very very clean and even more comfortable - location is great - hosts are great - we would always come back and stay here when in Panama City Fl - thanks for a great stay
Executive Summary: Home 4 A Day is a fantastic place to stay for business or romance.
Business Details: I evaluate five items when traveling for business; Internet access, workspace, ease of entry, bed comfort, and bathroom availability. Home for a day scored five of five points for a perfect score. The WiFi connection was strong and easily configured based upon instructions in the guestbook. A large glass table in the seating area provided plenty of outlets for work, or it was possible to take the notebook computer to the outdoor patio for a relaxing work environment. The space is entirely separate from the owner's space making it easy to come and go in response to the demands of the classroom installation job I was working. The bed is a king-sized Temperpedic mattress richly appointed with betting to suit the jewel and earth terms of the overall decorating scheme. The bathroom is contained within the unit ensuring unimpeded access to it at all times. Finally Freda provided fresh baked goods each morning and a fully stocked fridge with cheeses, yogurts, fruit juice, sodas, and a complete coffee service.
Romance Details: Freda has created one of the most intimate and richly appointed spaces I've seen during 10 years traveling to bed and breakfasts throughout the United States and Europe. The color scheme relies on ruby jewel tones and earthtones to create a opulent environment reminiscent of the Orientalist period of the 18th century. It appears every detail has been thought of beginning with the moment of reception when a half-dozen homemade cookies were arrayed on the bed, a bottle of wine was in the wine stand, and a bucket of ice was provided. High notes of the structure include the two-person shower, the Jacuzzi tub, and the lovely bed. Numerous people in the past have written in the guestbook about their honeymoon experiences in this fine place and I could not imagine them being better served.
Location: Freda and Lou provide two bicycles for your use during the stay, placing you with an easy reach of all of the amenities of the St. Andrews beach area. You're about a few blocks from the Oyster House or Uncle Ernie’s, both of which are fantastic seafood restaurants. In addition coffee shops, antique stores, and other restaurants abound within a 1 mile radius. You are a short five minute drive from the bridge to Panama City Beach or 10 minutes from Tyndall Air Force Base. The job I was performing for FSU Panama City was less than five minutes away by car.
Recap: This B&B is less expensive than almost any beach hotel, and only $20-$30 more expensive than staying at the La Quinta in Panama City. It provides more value than any other possibility in this area based upon its inherent beauty, business friendly accoutrements, and the friendly welcoming assistance of the hosts.
