About this listing
We have transformed what was once a storage shed into a "tiny home". The RRTH overloooks the river and all the amenities in a 200sqft lofted cottage.
**I had a close friend in need of short-term housing, and had to cancel several reservations**
The RRTH sits on the rivers edge in the quiet community of Devola. Devola is just North of Marietta - a 5 minute drive to the historic district.
The space comes equipped with all your kitchen needs, a queen mattress in the loft, a futon that sleeps 1, and a full bath. We've provided you with coffee to get your mornings off to a good start.
The RRTH has a small deck (4x10) on the back overlooking the river, dam, and island which appears in the summer. Our quirky retreat has settled slightly over time, has some repurposed decor, and AC/Heat when needed. Open the windows for a nice draft and enjoy bird watching (eagles can be spotted during certain times of the year), kayak and boaters, and occasionally the Valley Gym Sternwheeler will pass by.
We hope you enjoy our little home!
You'll have access to our tiny house, off-street parking, fire pit, dock, and our quiet community of Devola. (Please make accommodations for the fire pit and dock in advance only)
You can rent kayaks downtown and can easily launch from our dock or the dam on a guided tour. We have bikes you can rent too. Devola is great for walking, bike riding, and has a park with new playground equipment just a few minute walk down the road.
I'll coordinate with you on key pickup and will only meet you at the RRTH if you request. I typically let guests check-in and out on there own.
Interaction with guests
By request only. I will make arrangements with you in advance to access the cottage. I will only stop by if you request.
Devola is a safe and quiet community. Great for walking, bike riding, and water activities. Local restaurants include Dough Boys Pizza and House of Wines. Devols Dam is a fun attraction in the summer for fishing, swimming, boating, kayaking, and exploring the river banks.
Devola has been mostly a retiree community until recent years as more people have built custom homes and more young families moved in. It is one of the highly sought after communities in the Marietta area.
Rent a bike from us - his and hers- by advance requests only. $25 per bike per day or ask about our weekend rental. These are standard road bikes and NOT mountain bikes. For a challenge - try going up Strecker Lane and Silvan Way! Try biking down Fernclift for views of the Muskingum River and use the Devola Multi-Use trail located just north on 821.
Kayak rental available through Marietta Adventure Company. Call them in advance.
Other things to note
I live a mile from the cottage. If you need anything please text/call.
• Check-in time is 3PM.
• No parties or events
• No smoking
1) Place all trash in bags and tie shut. Leave it in waste basket.
2) Turn off all lights and leave AC/Heat unit on low when leaving. Unplug all unused appliances in the kitchen. Leave the key in the same spot you found it.
3) Please set all used towels/hand towels on bathroom floor.
4) Don't worry about making the bed! We'll Strip the bed and wash it after your stay.
5) See photos for two parking spot options.
I prefer you park in the flat concrete lot over night and longer blocks of time. Do not park directly in front of the A-frame, please!
6) Please only use 1 kitchen appliance at a time. Unplug 1 and plug in another. Same goes for using hair dryers, irons, etc. This will help from tripping the breaker and inconveniencing your stay.
8) open the loft window and main window for a nice draft as sometimes the loft can get warm on hot summer days.
From Dec 01, 2016 - Feb 28, 2017 the minimum stay is 1 night.
Born and raised in Marietta. My wife, Elizabeth, and I enjoy staying active and being outside. We are excited to share our tiny home with you in the quiet community of Devola.
