Old 6 floors tall apartment house located on a charming corner of W 181st street and Cabrini Blvd in Washington Heights. Great location for a walk (two parks each less then 10 min away from the house), for going out (several restaurants and cozy bars are right around the corner) and commuting (2 min. from A express train will take you in 20 min to the center of the city-Columbus circle and central park, Lincoln center, Carnegie hall, etc.). There are also many small shops-food, hardware, clothes, etc...
I have a very sweet roommate, who is very respectful and friendly, but often she is not even around. You would share a bathroom and kitchen with her. Two parts of the apartment are very far apart with a long hallway. In my part you will find the study with a magnificent grand piano (Steinway B), so if you play piano-it will make your stay even more enjoyable:) Wii-Fi Internet access is provided, but there is no cable, no TV and no land-line phone. Very comfy full size bad and closet space for your clothes to hang in is located in the other room. High ceilings and big windows allow a lot of light during the day. There is an AC unit in the study, but it cools both rooms when the door to the hallway is closed.
other subway near by: 1 train (red line), 10 min away. Easy access to Riverside Park with public tennis courts and a great bike route, and Fort Tryon park with Cloisters museum (part of the MET museum).
This house is very friendly and common sense courtesy should be enough.
My own request is to have NO DRINK OR FOOD put on the PIANO, and no sharp or heavy objects (basically-you may use the top of the lid to place some papers, documents, books).
If you know how to play piano-be my guest and enjoy playing it for your pleasure:)
Had a very pleasant stay at Luba's and some awesome conversations as well. The apt is large, lots of right and fresh air. Got me some clean towels, coffee, and breakfast there. She's inviting and made me feel very much welcomed. I'll definitely recommend to stay at are place while in NYC
The location of the apt cannot be more convenient about two blocks away from the A express and C local trains, the 1 local is also only a couple of blocks further down on 181st.
There is a ton of other places just steps away. The location of the apt in Washington height has great views of the George Washington bridge. Didn't get to check out the Cloisters or go the Fort Tyrone Park, but there is plenty to discover for the adventure while visiting.
