Want to enjoy the real parisian life ? This charming, sunny and calm apartment can be yours !
The apartment has 3 windows, the main one heading South with a clear view, so it always very sunny.
It is located on the 3rd and last floor (or 4th American floor).
My 22 years-old sister has been living there and decorated it to her taste.
You will find a living room with a sofa-bed (for 2) and a mattress (for 1), huge storage space, a coffee table and stools.
The kitchen has a fridge with 2 electric hotplates, dishes and all you need to cook.
The bathroom is equiped with a shower, lavatory with a mirror and WC.
Wireless high-speed Internet connection access is available.
The neighborhood is "bobo" (bourgeois bohemian), hip and cultural. It is safe and friendly.
You are at a walking distance from the Pere Lachaise cimetery and you will find very cool bars in the neighborhood.
In the street, "bobos" enjoy "De l'amitié café" and "Les mondes bohèmes"
In the paralel street, "Le Piston Pélican" is famous for its beers and live concerts, and the "Abribus café" for its sunny terace in the afternoon.
A few streets away from the apartment, you can eat or have cocktails at the hipster "Mama Shelter" designed by Starck. Right in front is the mythical "Flèche d'or", a former railway station converted into a music bar, now attracting a young and alternative crowd with indie rock concerts and house/electro DJ nights.
On weekends, there are 2 open-air markets full with locals, just a minute away from the apartment : next to the Metro Alexandre Dumas on Saturdays and the Place de la Reunion roundabout on Sundays. I especially love the one on Sundays because there is a very mixed crowd, it is lively and you can get cheap quality products (fruits and vegetables, cheese, fish and meat, etc.) as well as hear local musicians playing for the crowd around the fontain or having a café at the sunny terace.
My recommendations for restaurants are the "Chatomat", "Le vingtième art", "A la vierge de la réunion", "Mama Shelter" and "Les anges gardiens", but there are many more to try !
You have a nice art gallery presenting the artwork of local artists (the arrondissement is the one with most artists in Paris !), lots of supermarkets around if you need to shop, awesome boulangeries and pâtisseries, organic food-shops, caves à vins to buy nice organic wines or have a drink on the spot, very cool bookshops, like the famous "Le merle moqueur" and "Le comptoir des mots", and 2 fitness centers.
The area is very well connected with 3 different metro lines that take you quickly to the city center and all major site-seeing areas.
The apartment is at a walking distance from Nation, where you will find the RER A and Metro 1, 2, 6 and 9. You are also 200m away from the Avron station (line 2) and 400m from Buzenval station (line 9).
There are also "Velib" (shared bikes) stations near the apartment.

I apologize to Stephanie for not getting this review out sooner. I had the opportunity to stay in this apt for 9 months. I really enjoyed the experience and feel very fortunate for all of Stephanie's communication and willingness to help if and when problems arose. I felt that the best thing about this apartment is its location. Set right in the heart of the 20th, not far from Nation but also about a 20 minute walk from Bastille. Really fantastic! I enjoyed the fact that an apartment of this size has 3 windows (all new and sealed), quite a rarity in Paris. Also being on the top floor afforded a bit of breeze so in the summer it was cool. The electric heating in the apt was very good, and stayed in so I never was cold.
I did run into some problems with the internet, and Stephanie was great about helping to solve the problem, although it did take a while for things to be resolved, no fault of her own! Just the norm of dealing with things like that in France. I did feel as welll that the state of the actual building is pretty run down and occasionally I lost electricity or water for short period of times. Never longer than a few hours, but it was due to work being done elsewhere in and around the building.
I did very much enjoy meeting and feel so lucky to have met Stephanie, I really feel she was always looking out for my best interest and always reachable. I would totally recommend this rental if you are a single for a longer period of time or a couple. Be aware the sleeping couch is one that lies directly on the floor, not a clic clac or pull out. There is a single matress provided which proved very useful. If you have to oppurtunity to stay here you will definately experience a less touristy area of Paris, with a wonderful mixture of people, markets, shopping and restaurants. I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to stay again in the future!
Many thanks again to Stephanie!!
Stéphanie's place is really nice and excellent value for money. It's only a few minutes to Nation which takes you in no time to all major sites in Paris (line 1 and RER A). You can also take line 2 which goes to Père Lachaise, Montmartre and Pigalle. The place itself is basic but as you're in Paris, you'll probably not be spending too much time in your flat. We'd stayed for two months and enjoyed our time there.
Stephanie let her studio to me for the two months i stayed in Paris. It's a good place to live in a decent neighbourhood: not too posh, a little run-down, but in a good way. Just a regular cosy parisien neighbourhood. Everything you need within 100 meters including bars, restaurants, supermarkets, you name it. I paid renth monthwise and it was really not too expensive, just standard Parisien rate.
Stephanie is a loveable madame and i really came to like her on the few instances we met. Actually we met the first time halfway through my stay since she was on vacation when i arrived. We managed the key delivery via locker box and she just let me move in without actually knowing me in person. That she lay all this trust in me, a "random stranger" in the beginning really speaks for her trustfulness which is just one of the many good features of her exceptionally nice character.
Five stars, highly recommended (Place and Person).
