The Space

My pictures say VERIFIED under Airbnb logo, which means Airbnb sent staff to photo my place, so it is GUARANTEED! Come visit NYC with your own bedroom in one of the most picturesque and historic neighborhoods in New York! Your room is in my bright, beautiful spacious 2 bedroom/1 bath. Crown moulding in every room. Beautiful hardwood floors. Private Garden. Washer/Dryer in the apt! Convenience store right across the street!
On the 1st floor (above the Ground Floor, up one flight of stairs) in Manhattan, nestled right next to Central Park and St. Nicholas Park. The apt. faces the garden, NOT the street, so it is QUIET! Sunlight lights up the apartment. Your room has a full (a double, NOT twin!), comfortable, firm bed with a soft memory foam mattress topper, BRAND NEW Serta hypoallergenic down-alternative pillows with memory foam core, a waterproof and bed-bug free mattress protector, A/C & heat to keep you cool/warm, a 5 drawer dresser, and a closet to hang your clothes. Plus an alarm clock if you need. ALSO WiFi & TV with cable & iPod dock with speakers & radio!

Spotless white marble bathroom newly renovated. Large, clean fluffy towels waiting for you. Beautiful big tub. The water pressure is nice & strong, & shower gets steamy hot if you wish! Hairdryer provided for you! In the bottom of black drawer.

There is a lovely French restaurant called Maison Harlem right next to the apt that is great for mussels, risotto, coq au vin, drinks, etc. It is right across the street from the subway station that is the stop for the apt.

Private garden in the back of the building that is so relaxing and well-manicured. Very peaceful for being in Manhattan! :)

There is FREE on-street parking! :) Please familiarize yourself with the signs regarding street cleaning regulations when you get there.

The A & D Express train is right next to the apt., whisking you Downtown to 59th St/ Columbus Circle in 10 mins. & 42nd St. in 12mins!
The B & C Local train are also in the same station, making all local stops. The 1 train is two avenues away, giving you access to anywhere in Manhattan within minutes. Four streets away from the apartment are tons of stores, including Chase Bank, Bank of America, Capital One, drugstores, American Apparel, MAC, Foot Locker, Marshall's, Old Navy, T-Mobile, Nine West, Aerosoles, Champ's Sports, & Dunkin' Donuts.

I will be home during your stay. This will be a shared-space situation (the privacy part of the listing means that you'll have a private bedroom with lockable doors), but a fun, inexpensive one nonetheless.

Now continue reading for some tips on NYC- :)
I have lived in Manhattan for many years, I am glad to help you with any questions or tips!

When arriving from the airport, DO NOT go with the guys standing inside & outside the airport saying- "Cab. Taxi" These are NOT LEGIT cabs, but are gypsy cabs, meaning they don't have their license or a meter so you will get OVERCHARGED! Look for the Taxi stand right outside the airport, where the yellow cabs are. Yellow cab takes cash or credit card. Or book with Carmel! Online or phone (best rates for reserving cars, if coming from JFK, it's the way to go!)

Some recommendations-
NYC is just a grid, so it's pretty easy. The higher the number the STREETS go, the more NORTH you are going. The lower the number the streets go, the more SOUTH. The AVENUES go from right to left (I remember this bc Jewish people read the Torah right to left).
The LOWER the AVENUE the more EAST you are going, & the HIGHER the AVENUE, the more WEST you are going :)
The subway has signs above the platform & you just have to read to make sure you are going in the right direction.
To do sightseeing in Times Square/42nd St., for example, from the apartment, you want to take the DOWNTOWN train, the A or D Express train, so look for DOWNTOWN & the correct letter of the train on the sign on the platform. To come back to the apartment, you want to go UPTOWN.

I look forward to hosting you in amazing NYC! :)

  • My first trip to US and first Airbnb experience. The place is very convenient to metro. More importantly Amber was super helpful as a host. Thank you Amber

  • I had a great first airbnb experience staying with Amber in her cute NYC place! Amber is a very thoughtful host with a lovely place. I enjoyed our time talking & sharing. Amber helped me arrange a car to the airport, treated me to dinner, & let me do laundry. I would definitely stay with Amber again any time I'm in NYC.

  • I had a wonderful stay at this UWS listing. Amber was a wonderful host and went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable with the accommodations. The apt. was spotlessly clean and well furnished. The location which is just a couple of minutes walk to the subway was perfect for me. I can definitely recommend Amber's place to anyone looking for a quiet and comfortable place to stay.

  • Everything was perfect in Amber's apartment, even though I was late with my booking. The apartment is close to Central park and almost 15 min by subway from Pennstation. Amber is a very kind and well organized. The apartment is clean and spatious. Everything you may need for a wonderful stay in New York!

  • This was my 2nd stay at Amber's and it was perfect. The apartment was clean and ready for my arrival. Check in/out was easy. Amber is a gracious and responsible host. She is easy to contact and went out of her way to accommodate my last minute change in schedule, which I appreciate.

  • Everything was organized perfectly, even though I was extremely late with my booking. The neighbourhood is fine and it's very easy to get downtown from there. The apartment leaves nothing to be desired for and Amber is a perfect and very kind host.

  • I had a wonderful stay at Amber's! She accommodated my last minute request for a booking and my tight schedule for check-in and check-out, for which I am grateful for. She has a lovely apartment with a private room for guests. It is just 2 blocks from the express trains. The apartment was tidy, the bed was comfortable...I have only good things to say about my experience. I would stay again.

  • This was my first airbnb experience and it was great. I found the apartment just as Amber has advertised and was encouraged to make myself at home. The apartment is situated just outside the very busy city area and close enough to walk and run in Central Park. It's also a great walk from the apartment to downtown like Times Square etc which I did fairly often. Amber is great and very easy to talk to and gives you your privacy. Loved my stay and will definitely use her spot again if I'm able to get to NY again.
