About the neighborhood.
The location is SW of Rome, half way in the route City-Airport (Fiumicino), it's a residential, quiet and green area, although the apartment is 5 minutes away (walking) from Via del Trullo, a main street where you can find small shops, a nice local typical market with all you may need (grocery, butcher, fishfood and more), a discount supermarket, a "normal" supermarket and (taking a bus) a little shopping mall. If you want a big mall you'll have to take the Urban Train, but I doubt this will be interesting for you... :-)

How to move in Rome from Via Tempio di Dia?
Although it reaches almost every small corner of the city, the surface transportation in Rome is very complex and sometimes could result quite slow, therefore it is adviceable to only use it to commute to the nearest Metro (underground) or Urban Train station. Of course if there is none nearby, Buses are anyway a good option although must be considered a longer trip.
Rome offers integrated solutions for the transport tickets, therefore when you buy a ticket you can also use it for the Metro or the Urban Train, and these are some options:
• BIT - INTEGRATED TIME TICKET (€ 1,50) – valid 100 minutes from first validation –unlimited journeys on the whole City network (one journey only on Metro/Train)
• BIG - INTEGRATED DAILY TICKET (€ 6,00) – valid 24 hours from first validation –unlimited journeys
• BTI - INTEGRATED TOURIST TICKET (€ 16,50) - valid 3 days from first validation –unlimited journeys
• CIS - INTEGRATED WEEKLY TICKET (€ 24,00) - valid 1 week from first validation –unlimited journeys

Where can I use these tickets?
On all public transport within Rome:
- on buses, trams, trolleybuses and Cotral coaches
- on the metro lines A and B
- on (website hidden) regional trains: Rome-Lido, Viterbo, Pantano
- on Trenitalia regional trains (travelling second class)

Where can I buy these tickets?
At any Tobacco shop, Bus kiosk, Train and Metro Station. The nearest shop to this apartment is at 300mt, on Via del Trullo.

Note1: Kids under 10-years-old travel free if accompanied by an adult with the regular ticket.
Note2: There are also monthly tickets and other formulas, enquire within at the Stations/Kiosks/Shops.

  • Cheap&Chic was our first experience with AIRBNB. We have experienced the location and the owner as very friendly, clean and as we were home. Our first day breakfast was within the price, the appartment was perfect for our family of 5 and Stefano the owner is great. He drove us around in the area, SMS't me after 2 days whether everithing was allright and when we left. In the house everything you wish is there; dishwasher, washingmachine, refrigirator, etc. Our beds were perfectly arranged and we had more than enough towels. The house is just in the middels between the airport (half an hour) and the city (half an hour) in a quied area. The residential area has a small shopping street (more than 20 shops) and several restaurants.
We can warmly advice and recomment this house. You can always contact us to know more

  • I stayed at Stefano's place with 8 of my friends during new years. He provided me with maps and info about Rome through email. That was very helpfull. He picked us up at the trainstation and showed us the appartment. Everything we needed was there. Kitchen, towels, washing machine, bbq, enough beds and sheets and even a nice welcome gift :)
The place was great and one time stefano and his wife cooked us a very very nice Italian dinner.

The only thing i can say is that if you want to go out a lot in Rome it takes you about 1 hour to get from the center to the appartment because you have to take the night bus.

There is a busstop 5 min from the apartment. The only downside about that is that there is no busschedule in Rome. So sometimes we waited longer than 30 min for the bus to arrive and it takes you a little bit longer to get to the center.
But once you get in the bus, you will be in the center within 30 min. So not to long.

It's a great and cheap place if you want to escape the city rush and if you have enough time on your hands the bustimes wouldnt be a problem.

  • We had a excellent time in this apartment. Stefano our host was extremely helpfull and even picked is up from the rain station and offered lots of help and information on places to see and visit in Rome. He supplied us with fresh food for breakfast and the apartment was huge and extremely comfortable! We were Able to wash our clothes and prepare our Meals. We were walking distance to shops supermarkets etc and close to public transport so could get into center of Rome easily. Stefano had loads of maps and info left in apartment for us and provided train and bs information too which was a great help!

    Response from Stefano:

  • I stayed in Stefano's place with my family when we went to Rome. Stefano is such a great person!! He write me emails with all the instructions we need to arrive to his place. We agreed to meet in a subway station, when we arrived there his father Pietro was waiting for us, another great person!! He took us to the place and showed us the places nearby such as supermarket and bus stop. He was a very lovely person! The house is great, it was more than big enough for us! We found some fruit and food for us which was a very nice gesture!! He also left many maps with information, itineraries and everything we need to visit Rome.
The house is not very near of the city center, even though there are many ways of transportation nearby. There is a bus stop less than 5 min walk, also there is an station of the regional train like 10 min walk or you can take the bus and then the subway to go to the center of Rome.
We are very happy to have stayed there and meet such as wonderful persons.

    Response from Stefano:

these are very kind words, Yennifer, thanks a lot!
and very happy that you've enjoyed your beautiful roman trip (I like to think that a little part of that was because of the house you lived in... :-)
hope to meet you again, if not by me again, then maybe by your place... ciao!
