Casita in 1947 Hyde Park backyard, with bathroom, private entrance. Access to kitchen, dining, living room, and laundry in main house, which has beautiful hardwood and tile floors.
NOTE: Tenants are moving out on the 1st of May, and I don't have a picture with the planned furnishings. I can guarantee a television (no cable), a full-sized futon-bed, a dresser with mirror, and some bedside tables. I also have an air mattress for a third person.
My roommate and I are friendly science Ph.D. students. We also have six chickens (no roosters, and three are itty bitty chicks), whose names are Captain Peckhard (pronounced Picard), Buffy Orpington the Vampire Slayer, Alot of Chickens, Hen Solo, Cluck Norris, and Eggenvector. They do not bite. They do lay eggs, and if you want to throw a few extra dollars our way, you can have fresh eggs for breakfast!
The neighborhood is an eclectic mix of mid-century construction pier-and-beam homes, with coffee shops, bars, and bike shops hidden here and there -- all just steps from our front door.
We are half a block from two major bus lines (#7 to downtown/UT and #10), and two blocks to a third (#350).
Our place is up-and-coming. We're working on turning the backyard into an urban veggie garden, with rain-barrels and composting, and eventually an aquaponics (fish + hydroponic garden) setup and beehives. The kitchen cabinets are also missing a few doors and some paint, but everything functions. Due to the ongoing work and uncertain furnishings, we're pricing low for this outstanding location. Also, we're extremely friendly.
One of us is gluten-intolerant, so we have gluten-free, dairy-free cookware available for those with special dietary needs.

John was an excellent host. He had the guesthouse ready on time. It was clean and comfortable. I was his first guest, so there were some minor problems that he had not anticipated. But he was very responsive to my suggestions. I travel to Austin a couple times a year and intend to stay with him as often as he will have me.
