  • We stayed at Vida Sivestre for 10 nights with our 4 year old daughter and will stay here again the next time we visit Tulum. The grounds are lush and beautifully landscaped, we loved the vibe and the open and thoughtful design of the villas (we both are architects) as well as proximity to the ocean. We had a very comfortable king size bed and amazing view of the coconut palms in the yard from our bed.
This is not a resort and you'll have a lot of privacy in and around your villa.
The entire complex is solar powered, and electricity went out every night in the early AM, so I recommend to bring a flash light.

The pool is relatively small, but great for kids and large enough to cool off comfortably. During out stay, only 2 of the other villas were occupied and we had the pool to ourselves most of the time. There's a few great restaurants in walking distance and it's an easy 12-15 minute drive to town.

Sonia is a fantastic host, she was always available, made great recommendations for restaurants and was very responsive before and during our trip.

  • the villa was fantastic - 2 floors, 2 bathrooms, right across the street from the beach in a gated, private lot. sonia was accomodating and had good recommendations. oscar and the dog were accessible as well when we needed anything.

    pro-tip:
if you're heading to tulum get pesos from a bank atm. we spent a lot of american dollars and probably didn't get the best conversion when paying at restaurants and whatnot.

  • This place is absolutely beautiful; the design of the house is light and airy - and even though there is no A/C (a common thing in tulum) the house breathes on its on with all the windows and open spaces. Sonia is a perfect host - out of the way but easy to access during the day.
You are only a short walk to Dos Ceibas - a few steps across the road. This is a great beach hotel - simple breakfast, lunch, and dinner and a relaxed beach setting that feels more local than touristy.

    some notes:
-Sonia has bikes available on the property for guests to use
-There are beach towels + towels provided with the space
-No shampoo or bath products are provided
    -Maid comes once a day

  • Ridiculously romantic place. Easy access to the beach and next door to Mama Muu's (get the namesake drink and stop by for the grilled pineapple at the end of your night). Electricity here is precious (just like anywhere else) so people who need a hair dryer should look elsewhere or plan on going without.

  • Tulum is beautiful and so is villa silvestre. We had a lovely stay. Only downside is that the shower and taps have seawater. Otherwise very happy with our stay.

  • The home here is really fantastic. Vida Silvestre is towards the southern end of the main strip, we considered a number of the "normal" resorts but liked the idea of a place with better amenities (nicer bedrooms, bathrooms (2), separate kitchen/dining areas, wifi, etc). We were extremely happy with the villa and thought it much better and spacious most of what we saw on the strip. The unit was extremely clean (daily cleaning), and the beach access at Dos Ceibas was super easy. The beaches in this area are very relaxed and not at all busy. VS is actually more of a "hands off" resort than a normal AirBnB rental. Sonia was very helpful.

There is very convenient parking and we used a car to often go into town for dinner. It was much cheaper than shuttles to and from the airport.

  • Vida Silvestre is a very special place. The villa was beautifully designed and well constructed. We felt so close to nature -- it was like a luxury treehouse in the jungle. The villa was comfortable, clean, and well maintained.

The grounds of the compound were beautiful and felt very exclusive with only 5 villas on the site. Plus, the beach was a short walk across the street and accessible through Dos Ciebas where we were welcome to use their beach chairs and could get drinks and snacks on the beach.

Vida Silvestre is at the more quiet end of the strip of hotels along the beach. But there were many good restaurants within a 10-minute walk and taxis were easy to get if you did not feel like walking.

Sonia was a great host. She was responsive to all of my emails prior to the trip and made arrival and departure at the villa very easy.

100 puntos!.

  • I highly recommend Villa Silvestre, great location, great facilities. Had a wonderful time, the beach at Dos Ceibos across the street is great, They are super friendly and nice and you feel very welcome.

  • Where to begin? Vida Silvestre was absolutely perfect. We spent 8 nights in February, and the only downside was not being able to stay twice as long. As lovely as the photos are, the reality is even better. And Sonia is a warm, welcoming and helpful host.

The little houses are well-equipped and very comfortable. Access to the beach is just across the street, but so close that you can hear the waves breaking as you lie in bed. Having a swimming pool to cool off was wonderful, and we found we had it to ourselves most of the time.

It was great to have a little kitchen where we could make our own breakfast and lunches, though it should be noted that there are no grocery stores within walking distance of the property. In fact, Vida Silvestre is quite a distance from the (lovely) Tulum Pueblo. Taxis to town are plentiful, though, and the distance makes Vida Silvestre feel like a remote and peaceful haven.

During our visit to the Yucatan, we stayed right in town in Playa del Carmen, at an all-inclusive in Cancun, and at Vida Silvestre. Vida Silvestre was by far the best of the three. If you are looking for a completely relaxed, natural, holiday with access to quiet beaches and great restaurants, this is the place for you.

On another note... when you are in Tulum Pueblo, pay a visit to Pollo Bronco. They have the best chicken anywhere, ever!
