The Space

Why pay for a hotel? Stay in my one-bedroom apartment while I'm away!

It's located in the safe, friendly and lively Boerum Hill/Cobble Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn smack in the middle of two streets known for cute boutiques, trendy restaurants and bars, cafes, bookstores, cinemas and specialty food shops.

I love the neighborhood and it's part of my job to know as much about NYC as possible – feel free to reach out with questions on where to go, what to do, and what to see :)

NOTE: please do not submit a booking request without contacting me first. It's my home so I like to touch base with everyone before confirming a reservation :)

  • my review will not differ from all the other positive reviews. sheila was timely and professional and funny in responses to our questions.
love the neighborhood. i don't think i'll ever stay in a hotel again. Airbnb
where were you guys 20 years ago?
if you want an accommodating hostess, great Brooklyn location, great coffee shops and restaurants nearby, you found your place.
also jfk via air train and subway is a piece of cake and will save you about $40 (i hope that's ok to add) Sheila's notes about neighborhood are superb.
    sorry we never met you.

    Response from Sheila:

    Hi Paloma –

I'm glad you enjoyed the place! In regards to the smoke smell, one of my recent guests made the same comment...I think it's coming from the building in general, and I personally don't notice it, but I've actually just set up appointments to have the couch/rugs/bedding professionally cleaned, and the walls will be cleaned and steamed. That should help eradicate any lingering smells!

    Thanks again,
    Sheila

  • Very cute place in a great neighborhood, with lots of stores and restaurants within a very short walk. The subway was also very close, and easy to get into Manhattan. Sheila went above and beyond to make us feel at home.

We did feel that the mattress is ready to be replaced - it sagged on one side, so my husband and I took turns who had to sleep on that side. Also, it is on the third floor, so be prepared for the stairs.

Overall, this was a great experience.

    Response from Sheila:

Thanks Suzanne! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Also, I'm in the middle of a lot of improvements and the mattress is being replaced with a brand-new queen-size. All those changes will be complete for guests coming from June 15th onward :)

  • We had a great stay at Sheilas apartment. Thank you Sheila, espacially for your tips!!
The neighborhood is great with all the small bars, restaurants and shops.
Everything went well with the keys and the apartment was very clean.
A really good choice to stay in New York.

  • That was so great! The location is perfect, so close to the subway and trains, neighboorhood is just amazing with cute and good restaurants, and food to take out too. The apartment is super clean, and everything is well organized. Sheila send us an e-mail with a lot of informations to help us having a great time. It was quiet and sometimes, we forgot that the city that never sleeps is so close (15minutes max). That was our first time in NYC, but not the last for sure, thanks to Sheila!

  • SHEILA SAVED OUR HOLIDAY! My wife and I needed a last minute place to stay during our Christmas visit to Brooklyn. After a frantic Airbnb search and barrage of email requests (from me), Sheila responded within an hour and was able to accommodate us next morning!

Sheila's apartment is exactly what we needed...cozy, clean, warm and located just blocks from shops, restaurants, bars & transportation. Perfect for a young couple like us. The photos of the apartment and very accurate, although some of the minor furniture accessories have since been upgraded.

Sheila's communication was outstanding, and provided us with a level of comfort that we were working with a responsible and thoughtful host. Once our reservation was confirmed, we received a welcoming email with all of the details we needed to make our stay homey, and our check-in/ check-out process seamless. In addition, Sheila provided an extensive list of restaurant/ bar recommendations and some information about the neighborhood to get us oriented.

Overall, this is a FIVE STAR apartment and a FIVE STAR host! Thank you Sheila and the Airbnb Team!!

  • This was my first time trying airbnb & I had an awesome experience! Sheila is a fabulous host! She sent very detailed check-in instructions along with loads of tips and places to check out in the neighborhood! She was available for quick questions about the neighborhood and most helpful.

The apartment was spotlessly clean and so chic - well decorated and very comfortable. I have lived in many NYC apartments - they are usually unbearably hot in winter- hers was perfect!

Great neighborhood - Barneys - my mecca happened to be around the corner as well as Trader Joes! Lots of great little boutiques and centrally located in Brooklyn. Close to everything!

    I highly recommend!

  • We had a great experience overall staying at Sheila's place. Her place is in a great neighborhood in Brooklyn with a ton of cool restaurants, bars, and coffee shops right around the corner. Very easy access to subways to get to Manhattan, and an easy walk to the Brooklyn Bridge. The place is cozy and comfortable, and Sheila is a great host who is very responsive, she was kind enough to meet us in the morning when we got in off of a red eye, and let us drop off our bags, so we could go walk around and get some brunch without lugging our bags around everywhere.

  • communication w/ Sheila was easy. Instructions were good and there was no problem with access to the apt or what to do about various questions (ie garbage, getting in or out, etc) once we were there.

About
I'm a passionately curious, travel-addicted, food-obsessed freelance marketer/strategist/communicator. I'm also a pretty good friend and family member! These days I'm traveling a lot, so chances are good that my place will be free when you need it, or that I'll be sending you a message about yours! Next up is Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Panama...and then... When I do go somewhere new, I like to live as much like a local as possible - eat at the off-the-beaten track places, discover unknown gems and 'live' in a cool neighborhood for a bit. I love that this site makes it that much easier!
